Victor Hugo Salon

I’ve been going to Victor for three years and LOVE getting my hair done by him and his crew. All the staff is friendly and extremely talented. I recently moved to California and am having such a hard time finding someone to do my hair now. Missing Victors salon so thought I’d give it a review.
Note– appointments are long. This doesn’t bother me because I only ever book on weekends and like it as a whole shindig like they make it. They treat your hair like art so you won’t be in and out but I’ve always viewed it as a good thing. By far my favorite place I’ve been to for hair to date!

Would give Victor a ZERO star if I could. They over processed my hair for hours and assured me it would be protected. They compromised my hair and I lost over 15 inches. They admitted their mistake and tried to care for my hair to make it better with additional treatments, but they failed and it broke off. They apparently gave up and told me I was on my own and that my hair was now in better shape. It wasn’t.
In addition, apparently Victor was cutting my hair for THREE years with an expired license (expired in 2012 and renewed in 2015) and no facility license.
When I emailed and asked for a refund and told them they needed to settle with me they accused me of extortion and copied a lawyer. I reported it all to the state. Stay far away from this place.

Oh my gosh. What an awful experience! I had an appointment scheduled for a cut and color. When I asked for the book to pick out a color, I was informed by Victor himself that I was not scheduled for a color and I should make an appointment for next month (he was going on vacation or something) because that day was just to nice of a day to be inside. Now on to the haircut. It started out nice. The shampoo was done by one of his assistants and was wonderful. Then Victor began to cut my hair and the initial snip made my hair collar bone length. I had asked for it to be about 4″ longer than that after the entire haircut was all said and done. He asked if that legnth was ok and I was like, well we can’t glue it back on can we. After he’s done with the majority of the haircut, he says thats he wants my hair dry so he can finish it up. I proceed to sit in the chair for an hour and the next time I see him he’s walking in the front door with coffee for his employees. Are you kidding me? Then he sees me and realizes that he forgot about me and tries to quickly finish up my haircut. In the process he picks up a chunk of hair right above my ear and cuts it terribly short and I looked in the mirror and the look on his face said that he messed up. So 3 hours and $ 80 later I walk out of the salon with an awful haircut that is nothing close to what I asked for and 1.5″ of roots. I will never return.

$ 195.00 for a cut & color! I waited 15 minutes past appointment time; knew I should have left as I watched my assigned hairdresser putting little LuLu curls on a client with a tiny curling iron. I chose a color from the swatches… Came out 3 – 4 shades darker, plus had purple undertones! The «blond» highlights processed with the foil half down from the roots so I have bleach lines halfway down my head. Cut was decent– but the charge was $ 80 for the cut. This place is a pseudo sophisticated salon that turns out to be super cuts quality. Save your money.

This place is fabulous! The customer service is outstanding! I went in with a specific haircut that I wanted and they went above and beyond. They recommended highlights with my cut. At first I was a bit nervous as I have never highlighted my dark brown hair, but I decided to go with it because I could tell they knew what they were doing. I LOVE my cut and color! Victor, Neptune, Dillon and Jamie did an amazing job. Not only did I get a great cut, color and style, but I had a great time while I was there! I will be a customer for life now! Thank you Victor and Team! You are the BEST!

I’ve been going to Victor Hugo (previously Volero) for about 3 years now and have to say I’m extremely impressed with the high level of service, friendliness, and expertise of the staff. I truly feel pampered when I’m there and not just by my stylist ReBecca Roth. I always have my hair colored and get a cut every other time. I let Becca decide on color and cuts because she has great ideas and has an eye for what will look good on me. She is all about helping you look your best and bringing out your beauty. I’ve seen her with other customers when I’ve arrived early for an appointment and am amazed at how she makes each person feel special. Personal treatment from an incredibly gifted hair designer!

I have been going to Victor Hugo Salon for just over 2 years now and I’m always extremely happy with my haircut and color and also the entire experience while I’m there. Everyone is very friendly and the salon décor is inviting. My hair stylist, ReBecca Roth, has helped me completely transform my look. She helped me fix my home-​coloring disaster to remove different color pigments with a special treatment and helped me choose a new permanent color. My hair is now healthier and I think the new color she helped me choose looks great! I highly recommend ReBecca Roth — she gives every customer special attention.
I also really like the service that Victor Hugo Salon provides. It’s not just a haircut. You start with a shampoo and short head massage, then you can sip some warm tea and relax while your hair is cut. I always leave the salon feeling great!

Portland is a funky place. They are definitely are not privy to chains here, and i am a girl who does not like paying more than $ 15 for a haircut. i tried to look up a supercuts in the area to no avail. In btw apt viewings and a lunch appointment, i looked up the closest hair salon to me for a quick trim. The proprietor (victor i think) asked me how close i was– he would be willing to take me right away without appt. So within 5 min, i was with an iced tea, getting a haircut, and my hair shampooed. They even took out my feather extensions for me. I even got my eyebrows threaded, and was out within the hour just in time for my lunch appointment.
friendly, easy and hassle free.
P. S. women’s haircuts are $ 45. that is the cheapest i found thus far in the area of salons. Also, Volero is also an art gallery. there are wall murals and paintings everywhere.

Emanuel absolutely rocks my cut and color. He always gets it just right! Seriously, he is the best. Short, long, edgy, or classic, he can do it all. I also love the apprentice Danielle. She is so helpful, and cute and friendly. =)
