Dinner was ok. The best thing was the kids meal steak was cooked well and tasted good. My Brazilian skillet was very tasty but I could have ate four of them because the portion was so small. The next night we tried to walk in with a party of ten to get a drink before our reservations at another restaurant. The manager said we couldn’t bring the kids to the bar. I understand but it’s a big open bar which is where we ate the night before with the kids. We weren’t going to sit the kids at the bar and buy them shots we just wanted to stand near the bar and get a drink. He suggested we just sit at a table. We said there was ten of us and he rolled his eyes. We walked out across the street to players. Players owners were awesome. Go to players.

We were sat immediately when we came in, although when we left there was quite a group waiting for tables. Filled burger cravings with their build-your-own option(they have it for pizza too). I liked that they had little tickets to fill out as opposed to trying to explain our options to our slightly flighty and forgetful waitress(we never got our waters). Burgers were cooked as we requested, topping options were awesome, and we definitely got our fix here. Fairly reasonable pricing for two people. Two burgers(one with a few extra $ toppings) and two beers for around $ 40.

We have eaten here several times and it’s quality has slipped significantly. The new menu is uninspiring and the food is simplistic and bland. On Valentine’s Day they were out of most of their specialty cocktails at 6PM. They made a mistake on two of our party’s order(6 in the party). One was a chicken salad where they omitted the chicken. When we pointed out the mistake, they just brought the plain chicken out on the side rather than making the dish properly. The salad itself was basically iceberg lettuce and carrot shavings.

After a long very cold day in Lake Placid — the grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup def hit the spot. Service was great & the drinks were delicious too

I have been here three times and I am really not sure why we keep coming back! Trip 1: We came here with a group of friends. It took a good 40 minutes for us to get our food. The burger that my friend ordered as «well done» was still mooing. The staff was nowhere to be found. I had an empty drink for 20 minutes. The prices are pretty high too, and it was SONOISEY. We sat at a table by the window, and it was snowing, so it was a nice way to have dinner, but the place was not up to par. Trip 2: My fiancé and I sat on the bar side I guess? He ordered a burger and emphasized the way he wanted it to be cooked. I ordered a salad which was VERY wilted. The waitress messed up our drink order and was rude to us. She also brought me a warp at first, which I did not order. We ordered an appetizer, that came with our food, which again took forever to get. After we were done eating, plates cleared, we sat there for a good 15 minutes. I finally got up and went to the bar asking for our waitress and our check. She came over and we wanted to pay with credit card. She again was nowhere to be found. Again, I went up to the bar to pay. I left her no tip. Trip 3: This was the only place opened on a Sunday evening when we went up there. It was FREEZING in there and we were nowhere near the windows. It took 15 minutes for a staff member to come over to us after being seated. They were out of several items, wings being one of them. I ordered a salad(again) and my fiancé ordered some hot dog. He was not pleased with the taste, and although my salad was not wilted this time, it did not really do anything for me. I could be wrong, but I felt like the menu changed and there was really nothing on the menu anymore. There was a large group of rowdy teenagers which was annoying to be by, and I almost asked to be moved. Three strikes and your out, dancing bear.

They sat us as soon as we walked in. Had a beautiful view of the Main street and the snow falling outside. Unfortunately, that was the last of it. We sat there there for over 25 minutes without any recognition. It made no sense because there plenty of waiters and waitresses around but not one of them took even a drink order. After several failed attempts to recieve service we went across the street to the«Players Club» for the seconds night in a row and recieved service almost immediately with excellent food.

I had reasonably high hopes for this place, because of its aesthetics. Cute dancing bears everywhere. The food, however, was subpar. I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich, which turned out to be battered and fried, with no smokiness whatsoever. The ancho mayo had a faint pepper flavor, but that was it. The coleslaw was very generic. The fries were fine, but came in a cute mini fryer basket. The chili tasted like taco seasoning with a bit of cayenne pepper or something. The Brazilian skillet something-or-rather was the best dish we ordered. Although it wasn’t particularly Brazilian, it had yellow curry, it was very tasty. We were seated a bit slowly, apparently due to a few big parties being seated, which was fine. Our server, who was very polite, knowledgeable, and attentive, gave us 15% off the check because of the minor delay. The atmosphere was above average, but the food was below average. 3 stars. Not awful, but there was a lot to improve on.

I stopped here because I needed wifi and didn’t want to sit with the rest of the drones at the Starbucks down the road. The wifi is free here. Awesome. They had Sunday specials where for 12 bucks you got unlimited nachos. NFL special. Right down my alley. They had 3 dollar drafts and a ton of options to choose from. My only problem was the bathrooms. There was a line 5 deep to get into. Once I went in I found out that the toilet was broke and people kept on going in it without flushing it. Not a pretty sight.

We came here for dinner and breakfast. We only came for breakfast due to free vouchers from the hotel due to a screwup. Nachos at dinner were tasty, cheese sauce and melted cheese. The signature salad was yummy with lots of interesting things. The French onion soup was fine, quite average. The chicken and pasta had a strange tasting sauce, but that could have just been my taste preferences. Strange service at breakfast, the hostess seemed very put upon and then all staff disappeared for a long time when we wanted the check. Smoked salmon Benedict was fine, as was the combo with French toast, eggs, bacon and home fries, but we would not have come here without the hotel vouchers. Overall very average, but pretty views at the window table hightops of the lake. Also be aware that the top floor(inside and deck) is now a more expensive restaurant called«the deck.»

We’ve been here twice for breakfast and tried some of their pizzas and appetizers while at the Lake House Bar across the street(Lake House Bar allows you to order from a limited Dancing Bears Menu). Every meal we have had has exceeded our expectations, particularly for a restaurant that’s technically within a hotel. The breakfasts are fresh, quickly prepared, and hearty portions. The breakfast staff is attentive and welcoming. The restaurant is decorated with various bear paraphernalia and other interesting Lake Placid related artwork and items. The pizza we have enjoyed at the Lake House Bar is incredible, so incredible that we even arranged for it to be served as a late night snack at our wedding which took place at the High Peaks Resort! We’ve also tried the calamari, nachos, wings, and chili – all were well done and very much enjoyed! Granted, we’ve only tried the breakfast items and bar food, so we can’t speak to the traditional lunch or dinner dining experience so that may look a little different than our own experience with the dancing bears!

If you don’t mind the wait, the atmosphere sitting upstairs outside is quite nice. Temper your expectations, I think a lot of the staff goes back to school in the fall. We ordered dinner fare and it came out warm and everything was fairly tasty for«northern food.» If the waitress hadn’t paid so little attention to us, I would have easily given them 4 stars. The view from the upstairs eating area is incredible! I doubt we would have had the same experience had we sat downstairs.

There aren’t that many restaurants around Lake Placid so we decided to randomly picked one that is closest to our hotel(Lake House). I wanted chicken wings at the time so I went with Dancing Bears. The wait can be quite long(during dinner time) if you are hungry. The place is quite large. There’s also upstairs seating. You can expect it to be your typical bar food. I had French onion soup and Chicken wings for dinner. Soup was salty, but edible. Friends of mine both had sandwiches which were okay. My chicken wings were good. Our server was nice enough to let me have 2 types of wings; hot and mango habanero. Mango habanero wasn’t spicy, but rather sweet. Get it if you love ‘em wings.

Came to the Dancing Bears for the first time to have some breakfast. I had the pancakes, egg and hash brown platter and I was more than satisfied. My only downfall would be the attentiveness from the waitress which was not up to par as other restaurants we went to in Lake Placid. Other than that, everything else was phenomenal!

The hostess did not say hello and acted like we are disturbing her, she really needs to find a job that is not customer facing. Food was sub par: Chili was way too salty, Chicken Fajitas had some sort of a strange sauce on them and the tortillas were half frozen half hard, probably right from the microwave. Chicken with mustard and maple sauce was poorly done as well. The server Paulina was charming, they should really keep her and change everything else.

Decent place. Delicious food. Had the black bean burger and fries with house bbq sauce. Good service. Didn’t know the name of my server but he was very nice. Food was great. I was impressed that they had two different playoff games on TV including my out of market team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The place was nicely put together, very clean and well run. It was a nice addition to my vacation. I think if the people that owned this establishment could figure out how to get a real fireplace instead of a fake one, this would be a tourist hotspot. It’s the only thing missing in a place with a near perfect view, atmosphere and menu. Came back the next day for breakfast had amazing service absolutely perfectly prepared breakfast food fresh juice and amazing Columbian coffee one of the better breakfast experiences I’ve had in a very long time

Hopefully you will get Polina as your waitress, cause she is the most friendly, caring and accommodating person. We came here for a surprise b day for the matriarch of the family. The food is delicious: steak salad, Portebella fajita, nachos, chili and grilled cheese to name a few of the items we’ve enjoyed. Service couldn’t be better, drink glass was never empty. Kudos to our waitress and that staff the helped to make it a successful surprise.

This is an OK place too cool your jets or warm your fanny while in Lake Placid, but there’s only one Unilocalable item here: The Nachos. The Classic Nachos are so good, but I submit to you that you should grab the Cheeseburger Nachos, which adds ground beef and pico de gallo. Some of the best nachos you’ll find.

The dancing bears. To start I love the very wide open bar and layout inside. Lots of windows. You sun haters, this isn’t the place for you! On with the food. For an appetizer I had French onion soup which I found good but very steep in price $ 7.00(tourist) price I suppose and very small in size. For dinner I had chicken pot pie. However this wasn’t the real deal! It was a pastry almost similar to your pillsbury croissant style and this was placed on top of a skillet. I loved the big chunks of chicken and potatoes and there was plenty of other veggies mixed in however the sauce or gravy was watery and lacking flavor. Huge disappointment as far as taste and the pastry topper. The service here is ok and they serve a local beer or two(nothing more than that) they offer more of that chain blah zee beers here but they are reasonably price around happy hour 4 – 7. I’d have to give this place another try up on down the road.
