A great place to while away an hour. Fun things for kids to see like a pet pig, free roaming chickens and a koi pond. Call ahead if you want to pick something because they might not have the right conditions.(Strawberries picking was not available due to a drought). Gift shop for honey sticks and jam and I imagine, wine.

So, I am not a wine drinker, but my family and I came out here for something different and interesting to do. What I was looking most forward to was the country store and potentially picking scuppernongs and muscadines. When we first pulled around to the winery, we quickly realized that this was a smaller operation than our impressions from the website. The winery turned out to be self-guided and the wine tasting was very small(but very affordable). I did love all the different foods offered at the country store — I bought some garlic infused grape seed oil and it is perfection! They also had varieties of jams, pickles, salad dressings, popcorn kernels, and even 10 different flavors of «twizzlers» — if I had more spending money at that time, I would have bought a lot more than just the oil. There were a few things that took away from my enjoyment. First, this is NOT a place to come to in the summer unless 95 degree heat is your thing. The country store is not closed so it’s not air conditioned, and obviously the fruit picking is out in the sun as well. So there is no place to take a break and cool off. Once we looked around at the store, we were so hot we couldn’t bear to stay outside and pick grapes. Secondly, there were a lot of other people there with kids that were allowed to run around inside the store and terrorize the chickens. I would recommend checking this place out, but certainly consider the season and prepare accordingly. Don’t plan on seeing a big operation, but know that this is a cute little farm with some interesting wines and foodie items that are worth trying. I’ll definitely be back for more garlic oil!

I came to Henscratch during the hottest time of the year and it ended up spoiling my experience. It was too hot to pick muscadines or blueberries and that was something I really wanted to do. I did however make sure to do the whole wine tasting thing which lasted all of two minutes because Henscratch doesn’t have a «consumption» license(I didn’t know that type of license exists). There were quite a few wines available to taste, but because of the licensing issue, I could only taste four. And by taste, we’re talking one sip! That’s all you get! So don’t go to Henscratch expecting this grand ol’ wine-tasting-time…you will be highly disappointed. Another thing, the tour of the vineyard is self guided. Use your imagination… there is literally one place to see and it’s nothing exciting. Also, make sure you wear good walking shoes because the parking lot is grassy uneven dirt. This place earned two stars. One star for the wine because there were some unusual flavors and it was actually tasty… The other star is for the«cutesy» shop(however, not air conditioned)!

We had an awesome time on our way up to Orlando. We wine tasted while the kids picked grapes and fed the chickens. Drew and staff was remarkably welcoming. We can’t wait to return! Great great vino

My kids simply love this place. Katherine first started picking blueberries here when she was just two years old. Now the twins — Rebecca and William — have visited as well. Although blueberries are not in season. they did get to chase the chickens on Sunday while Jennifer purchased several bottles of wine… /s/William E. Lewis Jr, Davie, Florida
