I came here on my last trip through here a few years ago. I came back for the service, food and pricing.
I’ll be back!

You can smell the smoke just sitting at the intersection. The restaurant is a little run down. But the food and service was excellent.
The ribs, chicken, beef, etc is dry smoked, with a rub. Smoke ring and bark was fantastic. Chicken was juicy, and the ribs were great. The baked beans are obviously homemade, amazing flavor. Not a fan of the coleslaw, but i don’t like mine finely shredded.
They have 3 sauces. One is very Kansas City style sweet. The mild is same with a little more heat, and the hot is very much like South Carolina vinegary style.
Will definitely make the drive again.

No complaints. I had the fatboy sandwich –it was pretty good. My fiancé had the ribs and enjoyed it. Clean spot, great service.

Really good Deluxe Salad (most iceberg lettuce salads always include the ends of the lettuce head but not this one), great waitresses and fast service especially since there was 22 of us.

Best cole slaw ever. Have to stop and pick some up for Easter dinner. The help here are very friendly. Quick service whether you are dinning in or taking out.

Just ate here despite the reviews I read. Food was pretty good. Not great but definitely pretty good. Service was great. Attentive friendly staff. Our server, Cheryl was also very good.

Ribs cooked too fast, too chewy for me. Chicken cooked to long, dry. «Brisket» and I use that term loosely, was like it was bought at a super market and thrown on my plate. Sauces were fine, but it didnt seem like a rub was used on the meat. Service was excellent, fast and friendly.
Fine if you are bringing young kids for something quick, but if you are serious about BBQ, avoid this place.

The waitress was great; we actually have her a 25% tip of our actual bill/​tab.
The parking was ok, additional parking in the back of the building. We waited for about 2 minutes to be seated and the waitress took our order a few minutes of us seating down.
About 15 – 20 minutes later our breakfast arrived and I quickly realized there was a brown hair on my eggs. I quietly mentioned it to the waitress and she was embarrassed, took the dish away quickly and very apologetic. She stated the manager would be out but the manager never did! They also wanted to charge me for the meal which I never touched. Kind of sick to my stomach and lost my appetite. As we were leaving over hear a couple of tables complaining about the service and the delay of food arrival. Needles to say we will never go back in there even if the food was free, since customer service is the most important thing to us! Well the hair in the food doesn’t help either!

Drove in on a whim. We were drive down US 27 to Miami when we saw a full parking lot on Memorial and knew instantly this was where we were having lunch. A real locals place. Ordered the Memorial Day special of all u can eat baby backs, baked beans, coleslaw, and fries. Smoked dry ribs, yum! I love the fact that you sauce them yourself. As a matter of fact, their slogan is «y’all sauce it up & you will eat it up!» We had 3 rounds of ribs. Great pit stop. A must try when on US 27.

This place is an absolute JOKE for BBQ. Any positive review must be made by the owners or staff. YES, fat boys has been around for more than 20yrs but there are NO locals that eat at this place. It’s disgusting!!!
The place itself is Filthy and that is putting it nice. If the customers can see the bugs, dirt and sticky tables in the dining area, then what do you think the kitchen looks like that you can’t see?
When you walk in, it smells like old musty mold… Not BBQ.
Way Overpriced — paid over $ 30 for 2 sandwiches 2 sides and 1 sweet tea!!!
$ 3.29 for each side which is a «salad dressing size» of coleslaw. Literally 2 bites for $ 3.29.

Smoked turkey, coleslaw, baked beans, and garlic toast so good! Crinkle cut fries were nostalgic! Sliced pork, sliced beef, and ribs just ok. Good service! Stop here if u pass by for a step back in time to simpler days!

First of all the fly traps outside weren’t the worst of it. When we walked in, everyone stared at us. Very rude. The tables and seats were sticky and had food on it still. The AC sucked so it was hot as heck. The waitress that took our orders had a dirty bandaid on her thumb she kept messing with in front of us. Disgusting!!! The food came out and suddenly a swarm of flies surrounded us. The ribs weren’t even hot (temp). The chicken was dry. The cole slaw was yummy. The garlic bread looked and tasted like bread slapped with cheap garlic butter. The iced tea was watered down. Lord, the cleanest place was the ladies restroom. I would not recommend this place at all. Sonnys. That’s real BBQ!

There are few things on this earth better than Fat Boys’ smoked wings! The ONLY downside to this place are their uncomfortable seats… not at all fat boy friendly; which is ironic for a place called Fat Boys!

It’s been years since I have been in a Fatboys. They aren’t local anymore, We decided to stop by this location, as we are tired of the same old franchises.
They have a small sandwich as cheap as $ 3.90, you can get combos or buy individual sides, or sandwiches by themselves. I like having the choice.
We got the pulled pork, and yes they have it but its not on the menu. the food was very good, the sides were also very good. The sauces were great as well. The hot sauce is indeed hot, unlike Sonnys etc.
The server and staff couldn’t be any friendlier, hope they get more business wasn’t many people in there when we were there.
Look forward to going there again when we are in the area. It doesnt look like much inside and out, its dated but I dont care. So many new pretty places have crappy food and service.

Just ate here as the place was recommended to us… the ribs ok– the salad ok– the beef was excellent as well as that cold slaw soooo GOOD– Next time I know what to order… the wait staff excellent… Giving it a lowered mark as inside OLD and tacky!!!

Awesome Florida BBQ. Pretty sure they skip the pellets and use nice chunks of oak. No choice between pulled or chopped pork here, only sliced. My experience with slice pork is generally dry but no worries here as I ordered mine on optional garlic bread and the pork was moist and very tasty. I tried a little of the molasses based sauce and it really brought it all together. We shared a very reasonably priced order of baby backs and the ribs came out unsauced with only a very nice subtle flavor of rub and smoke. Meat was fall off the bone tender and seemed to be cooked just for us as the timing on them was perfect.
Appetizers were kind of light as they did not offer any of the expected fare such as corn nuggets which in hindsight was good as you will want to save room for the main attraction… the pork! I hope t find myself driving through Lake Wales soon to be able to enjoy another meal at Fat Boys.

Found this place on the way to Tampa on Hwy 27. At first glance, it looks old and tired.
We went in and the place is old and tired =).
I ordered the Bar-​B-​Q beef lunch special for $ 6 with fries, beans and sour dough bread. Wow! A whole lot of food for $ 6.
The beef was soft and moist. The sauce was not bad, but I had better.
Definitely a must stop if you’re in Hwy 27 in Polk County FL.

Never clean, indifferent service and food that appears to rely on opening cans and packages. Nothing here is freshly made. Their bbq appears to be cold cuts fresh from the package drowned in sauce. They have a captive clientele from Warner Southern College but I must be missing what else is keeping them in business.

Good for what it is… A BBQ place on the side of the highway!

Fat Boy’s! Great BBQ!!! I always get wings from here! The wings are awesome and get a side of ranch! They make their own ranch! Also, their sweet tea is soooo good! I love going with a good group of friends. They have seating available for big groups! They servers are very friendly and nice! Service is fast! I love going here!!! Eat up and get messy!!! Yummy!
