Fun Depot

We went here last night for a friend’s birthday to do the 10pm to midnight $ 16 all you can do laser tag and go karts. It’s a bit run down. My review is obviously from the perspective of an adult, I’m sure kids don’t care much about the same things! So if you have kids, go for it, go check it out. I’d prefer boomers or dave & busters as they are a bit nicer but Fun Depot isn’t terrible. Now, as I was saying, the place looks a bit run down and the teens running the place are less than interested in being there or enforcing rules. The go karts look pretty beat up, and it’s no wonder, they don’t care about kids ramming into each other or texting and driving. I kid you not, a kid was blatantly taking selfies the ENTIRE drive around the course and I saw him crash into people because of it. Not a single staff member said a word to him. How is that allowed? I fear for when he actually starts driving! It’s normal to bump into people while on the course, but some of these kids were just full on ramming others with not a word said by the staff. The laser tag arena is nice and is set up really well. However, no rules are enforced or even gone over in here either despite staff walking through the game. I literally had a child put his laser tag gun to the side of my face. I had to sternly tell him that is not how this game works and to remove his gun from my face. I think some ground rules before you go in would be helpful. Also, some of the vests need some maintenance. Overall, we had a good time go karting and laser tagging. I just think the teens working there really just don’t care about enforcing any rules, which I think if they did would help everyone have a more safe and fun time.

The only thing that sucks about Fun Depot is that kids are being kids. When we used to go here the kids bump into your kart, hit your kart on the side and make you spin out, and even kids cheating in Laser Tag. They hide in one spot near the recharge station and keep getting you out to score points, it makes the game very boring. I don’t know how much that changed since then.
It could definitely need a makeover to make it more modern and attract more people. Maybe buy unused property next door to expand the lot? And instead of mini-​bowling… maybe add a full size bowling alley?

HUMILIATING INTERACTION WITH STAFF
Upon contacting this business to arrange an event, the individual we spoke with called himself the Manager Josh. After getting limited info from this person we had requested speaking with the General Manager who was not available and his return to the Fscility was unknown.
This purported Manager who named himself Josh «Ortega» proceeded to indicate the General Manager was not willing to share the GM name nor any other info on who was in charge.
This individual later indicated the last name he had given was false.
What kind of business does not assist customers.

This is like a watered down version of Dave and Busters with arcade games for all ages, batting cages, go karts, laser tag, bowling, and food. All of the money and prize tickets are put on a «game card» which makes it easier to carry around and keep track of. The batting cages have both baseball and softball at different speeds. You can change the height using the buttons next to where you load the coins (which we figured out too late). If you need a larger bat than the ones they have outside, you can get one inside at the counter in exchange for your license. The go karts seem to be on the small side, and the course looks too short and simple for our taste. We didn’t get a chance to check out the laser tag, but it seems to be popular. Overall, this is a decent place to have fun for cheap and given its proximity, we’ll likely be returning.

This was a great fun day with the kids. We just enjoyed the go karts! Both kids had a ball the guys were very helpful and helped us get the most out of our purchases. Since we were on vacation we went on a Monday not crowded at all! !!

We had so much fun here!!! We loved the go karts and laser tag. We also enjoyed the ticket games; much more than boomers. We are definitely coming back!

Ive celebrated 2 fathers day here so far. Place was not too crowded since we got there at like 10:30am and almost all the games were working. Staff was friendly as well. Go karts were cool but the carts and track could use some updating. Laser Tag was pretty awesome and the batting cages were a lot of fun.

Very old video games! At least half are broken in some way! Tried the food… Omg horrible! Little kids cooking terrible food! Relatively clean and friendly staff! Way over priced for outdated arcade!
Try somewhere else first…

This is a cool place and it’s close to our residence which is nice. It’s very outdated though and could use a spruce over spruce up Haulover makeover. The laser tag area has been updated and is about the best thing besides the bowling that we like to do they did a good job at redoing the racetrack or race cover area over the cars so that’s bad. They should hang out there for a little while and bring back some ideas on how to improve their area and make it a better local attraction in Palm Springs instead of just a average mediocre place that has lots of games that are outdated and not too much fun anymore.
But my son loves Lakers laser tag so we’ll keep going.

The best things about this place are the go karts and The Mezz. The go-​karts cost a good bit of money and last only a few minutes, but you move really fast in them and it’s scary and exhilarating. The Mezz is the upstairs area where there are some long tables and computers. I have been going for years and never seen anyone use the gaming computers. Most people go up there to play Magic the Gathering (they also sell packs at the front counter for the weekly booster drafts). It’s free to use the tables as they figure you will buy some food or drink. I don’t really like any of the games or lazer tag as I have played those out at other venues. Outside are also batting cages and those are kinda neat. I set it to high speed 90 mph and didn’t hit any — could hardly see the balls.
There are soda vending machines with powerade in the main room which cost about $ 2 each which is fair for the size. The concession stand serves pizza and sometimes runs all-​u-​can eat specials. They also have drinks there and things like ice-​cream. I haven’t had the pizza in awhile but remember it being greasy.
The building and decorations look old and haven’t been updated in a long time. All the games are old too. This is fine because they are relaxed with things like bringing food up to the Mezz. The employees are extremely friendly and easy-​going. Sign up for the email list as it clues you in about special discounts and activities like lock-​ins for kids.

I took my daughter there this morning unplanned. We had a fun time. If you check in you can get two rounds of the go-​karts. We elected to use the other round when we come back. You add money to a players card of sort and your tickets are loaded into the card. Kind of a disappointment because it’s gratifying seeing your tickets come out of the machine. The games on the far side were cheap .50-​$ 1.00 to play and they had a few games that my daughter could play (she’s 6). I’m glad I went early because as we were leaving the summer camp kids were coming in.
I’d return there. $ 16 and we got about 1.5 hours of good old fashion fun.

It seems like the kind of place that was great once upon a time, but has not been maintained well. Many arcade games were broken and the go-​karts were very slow. It seems like it would be an OK deal for family night but that is about it without some major upgrades. The staff was helpful though.

I see a lot of reviews about people complaining that they close earlier than posted, but what those people don’t understand is:
1: If it’s storming and there’s not a lot of people in the building, the business is losing money by staying open.
2: When I read the sign with the hours on it the sign also read «Times may change» or something along those lines.
3: If they knew the unlimited started at 5 and saw that it was going to storm maybe they should’ve, oh I don’t know ASKED BEFOREHAND. Also the commenters said they showed up at 8 a whole 3 hours after the deal had started.
This place is great and while it does have it’s ups and downs, so does every business. Most of the time I see the negative comments come from people who refuse to take responsibility for not gathering enough information.

The staff closes shop early with precision and efficiency rivaling the Allied Forces invading Normandy. More on that later.
I arrived with a group of friends the other night. We went on a rainy Thursday evening, so go-​karts weren’t a thing. I understand that. As with everything our $ 20 unlimited pass had its limits. No ticket earning games. Again, I get that. It would have been cool if Ski Ball could have just not dispensed tickets that evening or something. Not a deal breaker though.
The first major disappointment was laser tag. It seems like a flagship product for this company. I really want to root for local business, but I don’t think they’ve updated laser tag since the early 2000s at best. Just watch the cheesy instructional video if you have any doubts. Each time I played there was no telling if it would take 2 seconds or 10 to «energize» my gun after I had been shot. Even with relatively small teams (6 – 8 people) this can leave 4 people standing around trying to charge up. The post-​game stats were pretty mediocre. Team points, personal hits and personal deaths, and that’s about it. Modernizing the laser tag gear should become a priority for the management. It’s getting embarrassing.
The real disappointment was the early closing. They were supposed to be open until 11 the evening I was there. They closed at 10. When you buy an unlimited ticket you’re saying I think I can get $ 20 worth of fun between now and when I need to leave. When they close an hour early that really messes with the perceived value. When we arrived it was we might close at 10:30 tonight. So we bought in. By 9:00 they were announcing one hour left. At 10:00 on the dot the machines unceremoniously shut down. By 10:05 the building was empty, the roll-​up security gate was closed, and the staff was completely gone leaving us standing outside the building.
This place has some great gems. Plenty of racing games, dance games, classics, pinball, space for laser tag, go-​karts, tons of potential that seems to wallow in a lack of management and capital investment. Businesses don’t stay open on cruise control. Hopefully ownership will make some investments and decide the hours matter. (At least decide they matter during unlimited evenings.) Until there are some changes I don’t think I can recommend this establishment. Not being a local I won’t be able to give updates.

A group of us had about 2 hours of fun here this weekend. I found it to be clean and well-​staffed. Go-​karts and Laser tag are BOGO if you check in with the Unilocal app. Nearly all of the games that we played were in well working order, and the money that was eaten by defective arcadery was reimbursed to us without question. The arcade selection was much better than I anticipated as there were lots of classics for a guy like me in his 30s to appreciate. What really did it for me was the amazing collection of pinball machines. We plan on coming back for some more fun in the near future.

Back in the day, this used to be «the spot» for fun — now it’s mediocre and becoming sad.
Don’t get me wrong, the staff is nice (as always) but when 45% of your machines are not working, you are losing about 45% more money/​business.
My best friend suggested we host our joined birthday party there, but I said, «Why pay that much when nearly half of their machines don’t work? It’s not worth it.»
THAT alone should push management to look into fixing things up.
I spent about $ 40 last night in games and would have spent so much more if they were working. How can you have Time Crisis IV running, but only one gun & screen available to play? And Time Crisis II was having issues with the gun not picking up on the second screen.
Fun Depot: You have a nice concept, but it’s severely worn down. Do yourself a favor and fix the place up.

This place has ALOT of potential!
I’m up in West Palm Beach for a gig that my dance crew & I booked. Since its a two-​day gig they put us up in a hotel & I being the mostest awesomest crew director ever spent time looking up fun things that we could all do while we were up here.
So I stumbled onto this place. I honestly only chose this place ’cause it seemed like a more laser tag than its competitor Boomers.
I’m giving this place a solid 3 stars because the crew and I had a lot of fun. Definitely a place for all ages.
Saturday night they have a special Midnight Madness of $ 15 and you play unlimited go kart and laser tag from 10pm — till closing. I suggest you come on this night to take advantage of the place but also ONLY if you’re coming at 10pm on the dot.
With the waiting in line for Go Karts and Laser Tags, time can easily be eaten away in no time and it closes at midnight so if there’s alot of people you might be able to hit up each section once or twice.
Theres also a lot of awesome arcade games & a lot of throwbacks/​vintage games that the older crowd would appreciate. The only issue is that there were a lot of defective machines. If they would spend more time fixing up the place, this would an awesome awesome place.
Laser Tag was fun here but once again, outdated.
Some guns weren’t working properly and straps were broken, etc. I definitely prefer Laser Quest in Sunrise over here and Boomers.
Food seems expensive here as well. Reminiscent of fair food prices.

Eh. It’s really over priced unless you go Tuesday or Thursday night. And the food sucks.

Fun Depot is where fun is deposited :)
My boyfriend and I purchased two Midnight Madness tickets and we got to play unlimited Go-​Kart and Laser Tag!!!
The arcade was also pretty cool… great game choices including Dance Dance Revolution!!! (Yeah, I went there)!
Was not overcrowded so the lines were short. Laser Storm and Go Kart were absolutely fun! As a first timer, the staff were more than informative and facilitators of FUN!
