Good empanadas in the deli/restaurant, but usually I just get a cortadito when I’m bonking at 2−3pm in the afternoon. Just the right kick to carry me through to dinner. The entrees look pretty good, as do the pastries, and the dining area looks pretty clean too. Eventually, I’ll fight off the temptation to eat lunch at Tacos Al Carbon across the street, and sample some of their fare.

Wow! I thought Monterrey had the best priced meat and all things Latin, but El Bodegon is even better. The store is clean and neat, and they have an excellent café. The café has about every pastry you can imagine, coffee, and a wide array of hot foods like empanadas, tamales, rice and beans. I tried a croissant filled with cheese, A++++. The produce is definitely cheaper than places like Publix, and look very fresh. The meat selection is huge, and definitely cheap. Four boneless, skinless, chicken breasts for $ 6, about $ 5 cheaper than what I would pay at Publix. They have deli with meats and cheeses, a butcher counter where they will pretty much cut anything they way you want it, and a seafood counter. On the side of the store there are little shops, selling jewelry and other things, and even a shop that does alterations. It looks like they were building a medical clinic inside. They are little further from my house than I would like, but their prices are worth the drive alone.
