I would like to commend Richard at Digital Ventures for his quick, great service. We used to bring our laptops to him when he was in Barrington, and was glad when I saw he now opened a store in LZ. He has always done fine repairs, quick returns, and fair pricing. I was really pleased with Richard again recently. I brought my laptop in, needing a new screen. He did not have one in the back and would have to order it. I brought it in Tuesday, the week of Christmas and because of the holiday delivery schedule, he was not able to promise a return until after Christmas. Ok, I understood… timing. I was very happy when he called me on Christmas Eve to tell me he was able to get the laptop repaired and ready for pickup that day. Richard is a very nice person to deal with and I’m happy to have a place that I will get great service at. You won’t be sorry.

I took my laptop to the owner, Richard, at Digital Ventures to get it fixed because it wasn’t shutting down properly. He explained everything to me completely and honestly. Plus he was able to get it fixed for me at a reasonable price and in a time frame that fit my busy schedule. I often recommend his services to my friends and I found out that several have already taken their computers to him and they agree with me that he’s the best in the computer repair business. He’s an expert in my opinion.

I brought my PC to DVC on a Friday to repair my leaking liquid cooler for my CPU. My computer started up and ran fine beforehand but would safety auto shut off once the leak was detected.(IE. My video card, motherboard, ram, etc all worked when I brought my PC in). The following week I called in as I had not heard from them and was told my PC was all fixed. I came by after work to pick it up and was told my computer had lit on fire by itself, quite the unheard of coincidence. My $ 300+ GTX660Ti video card I purchased in September 2013 which had no prior issues had allegedly caught fire mysteriously and melted part of the card as well as my motherboard. DVC stated they were going to contact Asus for a warranty replacement and would get back to me that week. Again I had not heard from them for a few days so I drove to their shop in person. I was told that my video card was mailed to Asus(lie) and a replacement would be sent back. I was also told that it may not be covered because my video card was over clocked; to my own embarrassment I don’t even know HOW to over clock a video card nor has anyone changed my computer settings. Richard at DVC said he also ordered a new motherboard for my PC. I did not authorize this and he stated it wasn’t the same mother board but a similar one. I called back a few days later because DVC never called me once during this whole ordeal and Richard told me he could not get in contact with Asus. I tried myself to get in contact with Asus and I reached them. I called that Friday and told them to have my computer assembled and I will pick it up to have the work done elsewhere. I was charged for the Corsair H80i liquid cooler later on but now I am out a $ 80 motherboard and am told by Asus reps that my $ 300+ GPU will not be warranty covered. In addition to this frustrating experience, my case was damaged with scratches and scuff marks that were not their prior, and was also missing a $ 10120mm fan. I would not recommend you bring your computers here for servicing as I feel that lack of communication to their customers, dishonesty, unauthorized parts that are purchased, and negligence to customer property is a very poor way to do business. They did however remedy the situation somewhat by paying me $ 250 which is better than nothing considering i had a $ 300GPU, $ 80 motherboard, and $ 10 fan damaged/missing.

Also DBA«Barrington Computer Repair» I have used DVC twice now for my PC repairs, and was initially pleased with the results relative to the cost. But I must say my experience has soured. After they replaced my failed hard drive everything worked fine, except that when I got it home I could not find the Outlook folders and emails they specifically told me they’d restore. Despite my many attempts to follow up by phone and email, they never responded to me and I lost all of my historical folders and emails. So I moved on and just let that go. But then, exactly 30 days after I picked up my PC from them, I began receiving annoyingly frequent popups on my PC saying that my version of Windows«may be counterfeit» and«I need to activate» my version of windows. Again I reached out to them to have this fixed/give me an activation code for whatever version of Windows they put on my new drive, and again they routinely ignore my calls & emails. So what started out seemingly as a good experience and value for the money has become horrendously bad. At this point Best Buy probably has better ongoing service than these guys(and that’s not saying much). My opinion/experience: Stay away!
