went there for lunch and found it closed; out of business as of 2−1−16!

Want something freshly grilled, a place you create your own meal, pick your own veggies, meats, sauces? This is the place for you! I actually requested two bowls. I filled one up with the pasta noodle of my choice, I utilized the other bowl for veggies like mushrooms, onions, broccoli, green peppers, eggs and then on top I placed the raw meats I wanted. Dont you worry, once it is all cooked they give it back on a new plate. Great tip: Mix up the sauces! You take it to the gentlemen cooking at the grill and they will mix it all up and at the very end they will add the sauce for a kick. They have a full bar and prices are reasonable. The service is very attentive. I loved my meal and It tasted delicious! If you have food allergies they have a section just for you to have your items cooked at. Great location in a plaza! Casual dining.

Getting a bit worried about this place. It was absolutely filthy. I usually go for dinner, but this time I went around 11:30 for lunch. The booths had rice on the floor. The tables were sticky and dirty. The floors had straw wrappers, rice and miscellaneous food. If this is what the dining area looks like at early lunch, I gag to think about the food prep areas behind closed doors and walls. I went to the Allergy Wok with my bowl and was grilled about what were my allergies. Very disappointed.

This restaurant was so much fun! You got to pick out your own ingredients(and they offered«recipe cards» for those of us who are not great at pairing foods/spices!) and customize your meal. Watching them cook the food was a treat; and the meal was very tasty as well. They had a separate grill grill to cook foods on for people with food allergies — this was much appreciated! All in all we had a wonderful experience.

Hadn’t been to bds for a couple of years but nothing much has changed. If you like the variety of chosing your own combination of meats and vegetables this is the way to go. Prices are a little high but you get a good amount. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. Setting up your own spice point is a definite advantage. Went on a Saturday night right at dinner time so the wait for the hibacci was long and that dampened the experience. All in all though we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I went here about a week ago from the time of this review. This is a very nice comfortable /casual Asian style restaurant. It was a weekend night and there were a lot of families here at the time we were here. The wait staff was very helpful in explaining the entire process here. We were offered an option that included a soup & salad bar. The choices for the salad bar was a decent variety with a choice of about five different dressings. There were only two featured soups. I have the princess chicken soup. Everything was very good at this point(especially the soups). Next, with a bowl provided per customer, there was another bar to go to. This bar featured raw meats and veggies for the grilling staff to cook for you. The veggie and meat selection were extensive. The veggies included peppers, onions, cilantro, mushrooms, etc. anything you can think of that is used in stirfry. There were a lot of meat choices too. I chose the ribeye, Shrimp, and flank steak. The grilling bar also included a variety of spices and sauces for the grilling staff to cook for you. You have to make sure you pileup your bowl for as much food as you plan on eating. Otherwise, you will have to pay for a second serving. Once you have your raw meat and veggies in your bowl, there is a very large round stone or iron(I’m not sure) cooking surface lined up with everyone’s orders in a circular arrangement in the order they were received. This is the entertaining part. Everyone sits there watching the food being grilled in front of them mesmerized. I would refer to the photos provided by other Unilocalers for an example of what I’m talking about. I didn’t get to take photos this time. The waitstaff was pretty timely. As you are up getting your food, they already had the table set for the next step. I would definitely try this place again if I happen to be in the area or if there is one in the Tampa Bay area.

My wife & I have been going back to bd’s Mongolian Grill about once a month. And, we’re starting to notice a couple of things. For one, the selections seem to be dwindling. There haven’t been any eggs for quite a while. We were told one time that it was because of a salmonela scare. The next visit, they had egg beaters but that wasn’t there the next time. And, this last time the only pasta available was spiral rottini … yeah, the Italian pasta. No Lo Mein or anything like it. Another thing we noticed missing was teriyaki sauce. And, there were some doubles on the veggies that my wife noticed had taken the place of the normal selections. The other thing I noticed was the floor. It was sticky. and not in just one spot. Hopefully, when the snowbirds come back to FL, the restaurant will pick back up on the items that they should offer.

BD’s was a once a week/every other week meal for my boyfriend and me. We loved the service and food. But the service has faded and the restaurant is dirty. I stick to the floor as I walked, the utensils are faded, the bowls have a feel as if they’re not really clean. The last two times they’ve burnt my food. I don’t fault the cooks, but two cooks for 12 – 14 plates at a time is a bit too much. I think we’re going to try and find a new favorite place to go to for a while until BD’s gets back to better quality and cleanliness.

Of all the Grills in all of the cities you could visit in this great land you will never go wrong with a Mongolian. You’ve no one to blame except yourself for not liking the bowl you create. Great drinks and better service make this a good dinner destination.

I’ve been coming for years now & I always loved this place! I was recently here a few days ago to retrieve my free birthday reward since I joined their club. First timers seem to always have the most fun because this restaurant is totally different, unique, and surprising! The rules are: One meat, veggies, sauce, and then grill. The server gives you a bowl and you take to the sections of goods near the grill. The rule is ONEMEAT right? Wrong, everyone chooses different meats from chicken to NY Strip to Shrimp. It is fine to get a lot of meat. The rule is just entertaining. Next, you have a wide selections of vegetables to choose from. Then you can create your sauce for your dish. Once ready, just head to the Mongolian grill so the chef can cook your food in front of you. You can fill your bowl as much and as high as you can. I’m like the master of this and I always get compliments on how I can so much in a little. The price flat for 1 bowl anything goes in it. I don’t suggest getting pasta since you can get rice or tortillas or both at your table. I skip those. I just push down on my stuff as I go and stacking up trying to keep everything in my bowl. You can also have the salad bar and soups included in your meal. I love the Cesar salad and Beer Cheese soup. I always end up taking half my food home. You get great portions for a great price. The staff members are always friendly and so are the servers. I highly recommend this place to everyone looking for a nice meal in the area.

All the food is fresh and the wait staff is super friendly. I feel bad for the cooks doing the stir fry though. They work really hard so don’t forget to tip them if you can. You can’t go wrong when you pick all the ingredients your self.

bd’s Mongolian Grill is a unique restaurant that offers a fun concept for create-your-own stirfry meals. The Lakeland location is at Lakeside Village, the outside mall about a mile off of I-4. A friend of mine went to school at the neaby Florida Southern College, so I have her to thank for introducing me to this gem. When you arrive at bd’s, you can either sit at the bar or a table. The restaurant is pretty big, so I’ve only been a few times when there was a long wait to be seated. The waitress with bring bowls to the table and you can then visit the raw bar and fill your bowl with all sorts of goodies! If you stack it right, you will have more than enough without the unlimited option. You can choose from different meats and seafoods, noodles, vegetables, spices, and sauces. Some of my favorites are the rice noodles, crab, chicken, ribeye, and lemon pepper with the oil blend. I love the idea of customizing your own bowl because I am such a picky eater. It ensures that I will love everything on my plate! Once you’re done creating your masterpiece, you bring your bowl to the grill and watch as it is cooked center-stage on a large grill. There’s a soup and salad bar that comes with your entrée, but I’ve never tried it because I’m always so full off my main course! You also receive unlimited rice or tortillas with your meal. Usually you will have to ask if you need more, but they will bring more out quickly. bd’s has a few other perks that make the experience great. The drinks are actually reasonably priced, which isn’t very typical at chain restaurants. Plus, they offer a happy hour from 3:00 — 6:00pm every day that even cuts those great prices in half! Their loyalty program, Club Mongo, offers free items when you reach certain point milestones. There are even student discounts on Mondays. bd’s is pretty far from where I live, but I would be a frequent diner if they ever brought one to Tampa!

Food, as always is good and fresh. The guys at the grill tonight were not as enthusiastic as normal. The only issue I had was the floor was sticky tonight. I felt like it hadn’t been mopped in a week.

Took my Fiancé here for lunch, I’m giving them a 4 star because i think our server was being a little stingy with the rice. One bowl for two people. She also didn’t try to up sale and suggest that it was possible to get unlimited hibachi. we just assumed you get one bowl. but hey what eves, their business not mine I found out later when I asked bec. khris wanted more it was his first time and you know the first timers always mess the first bowl up. This was the first time we had been to one in Florida… bec there is only one. haha The one in Detroit was banging. so I’ll say this place is slow and quite on a week day and its in the mall so go check it out. I liked it. the cook also was very friendly.

Neat concept, and i like the endless rice or tortilla with the one bowl of your choice of meats and veggies to be stir fried in your choice of sauce(s), which also comes with soup and salad, all for $ 10. Downside is that the place feels like a franchise similar to had I stepped into TGIF, décor seems mismatched with cuisine theme. it just felt off. I would be concerned of sanitation as there’s a buffet of raw meat with all sorts of people touching and possibly swapping tongs.. granted it all gets cooked supposedly, so shouldn’t be a problem but still seems like cross contamination is certainly possible. It can also be a bit of disaster with dropped food along the bar. And they ran out of a couple meats, so no shrimp and out of beef when i was there. Chicken was a little dry when my mix was cooked up, but not a bad meal. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, and I’m rarely ever in Lakeland, so it’s unlikely I’ll be back. However, service is prompt and friendly.

I can’t believe there isn’t one in Gainesville yet! Every time I go to lakeland I make it a point to hit BD’s The food is awesome you pick your meat then your veggies then your seasoning and then a griller cooks them in front of you. in the meantime rice, tortillas and drinks have been delivered to your table. one trip is $ 8 – 9 and unlimited trips is a little over $ 10 but if you stack your bowl properly the unlimited option is overkill. This place is just great. If you’re worried about picking the right ingredients they have suggestion recipe cards to help you out. It doesn’t matter how crazy tall my friends and i stack our bowls we have never gotten nasty looks or attitude from the staff in fact we’ve gotten a couple compliments and high fives for our mastery of food stacking!

Went to the BD’s in Michigan and haven’t been in years. It’s still just as good. The location in Lakeland is in a very cool/fun shopping/dining plaza. Love that the salad bar now comes with the meal. I can always get two meals out of one trip up to the grill. Fun experience to get to pick your own meats and seafood and veggies to have cooked up. Also love being able to make my own sauce and spices.(The teriyaki with the lemon sauce mixed is amazing!) make sure to get some tortillas and lettuce wraps also and you can make some fajitas! Can’t wait to go back.

There wasn’t anything overwhelmingly awesome or terrible during my recent visit. Went with brother and sissy in law on a Saturday night, it looks like half of the town was in the area… so definitely hopping – or at least as hopping as Lakeland can be. Although there were a lot of empty tables we were told it would be a 30 minute wait, they ran out of pagers, so they offered to call me once our table was ready, so we could go walk around at the shops. That was nice of them. Our wait was more like 15 minutes so that was even better. After we were seated it took about another 5 minutes before our server came. The meats and veggies were fully stocked so that was good. The line cooks were not as lively/entertaining as I remember visiting other locations. but at least they cooked the food thoroughly! Yay! Our waitress was attentive with filling our glasses so that was nice as well. Overall and A-OK experience — nothing to terribly awesome or terribly bad.

I wish they had this place in the 305! Second visit to Lakeland and while driving up I couldn’t wait to eat here. The concept is cool, go to the buffet area pick a protein or two or three, mix it up with pasta, veggies, sauces and spices, then hand it off to a cook who is using these long utensils to spread your food across a huge heated disk that cooks ur meal while you watch. Great price includes endless bowls of white rice, brown rice and tortillas.

We Miss The Altamonte Springs BD’s Mongolian Grill! Try Orlando Again! On our trip back from Tampa I knew of their Lakeland location so we decided to hit it. This store is located in the center of an open air mall with many shopping options. Ashley was our helpful server & Todd was the friendly Grill Master. It’s as basic as selecting your fav meats & veggies pile it as high as you can. Choosing how you want it flavored with sauce then having it grilled infront of you. I pigged out on the fajita chicken, ribeye, shrimp, and sausage. Ran it thru the garden with all the veggies and had it spiced with the Kung Pao Spicy sauce that added a kick. Strongly consider returning back to Orlando whether it’s on I-Drive or Waterford Lakes, it would be great to see you back.
