Spent a day creating my first mosaic piece at Breakables. I was pleased with the final product. They have a wide array of tiles and pieces, provide the glue, the item to receive the tile pieces and good space to work(little heat on cold days). It’s nice it’s next to a tea store so you can sip while you work. I thought I’d be finished in an hour but we were there over 3. Initially I thought the prices were high, starting at about $ 32 for smaller sized things, but after seeing the work, time and tiles involved, it’s more than fair. I would have liked for it to be staffed with a helpful person with tiling experience, but the clerk from Picasso’s ceramic painting café ran back and forth checking on us and couldn’t have been nicer. We were largely on our own, after a brief demo on how to cut tiles.(Needy people and children will perhaps not like the set-up/independence required.) They send you home with a bag of grout to finish it 24 hours after the glue sets. Inventory for tile boards was scant. The finished models showed you what finished products looked like but were not available to make. They had some mosaics on Lucite and had an area for making candles. It was a good first experience. I love the whole artist enclave vibe of the strip of stores here.
