Pix is a Publix convenience store; their employees get the same training in fanatical customer service that other Publix associates do. Pix has both national-brand and Publix-brand snacks and drinks. They don’t carry Boars Head or a full deli case, but you can get a Publix sub here! Their restrooms are clean, accessible, and spacious. Each is exactly the same as a Publix«family restroom», which makes it bizarrely inefficient that neither is marked as such.

This is a compact version of Publix, with fewer aisles and closer together. It is NOT fun during the crowded times(unless you love bumper carts) but it is laid out well and clerks are helpful. Parking lot is also awkward. There is a PIX gas station on the premises. I wonder if they planned on the growth of the two major intersecting roadways and the home construction in the area when they built this Baby Publix. On the positive side, it sure shortens my shopping trips with«less(physical) store».

I’m not object to a quick snack found at a local grocery store and my memories of Publix were always of higher end products and a wide selection of everything from sugar free oatmeal to 5 different kinds of Wensleydale Cheese and beyond. I got lost on my way to St. Augustine(even though it’s clearly marked on the highway-I know) and took a detour after visiting the Harley Davidson jamboree. A bright green sign luring me in with«Brown Rice Sushi Now Available» caught my attention and my little Scooby Doo ears perked up and I was hooked. I walked in, got some decent sushi, peeked at the pâté(which according to my memory, was pretty good) and reminisced living in the south and loving cooking at home because of all the awesome finds I had at the local Publix. I bought a variety of junk foods to keep me fueled on my trip to St. Augustine and the check out counter just blew my mind! People in Florida may be used to seeing an awesome personalized checkout screen for them and the cashier but I’m not and I was blown away by the technology. Score 1 for Florida, 0 for California…
