Ordered the mofongo with pernil and it was ok. Nothing spectacular about it… Very large serving, enough for 2… Not a terrible price. Also order the empanadas — I always figure that if they can’t get that right, it’s not worth a come back — chicken empanada had good flavor but the chicken was dry. Overall it was pretty good… I wouldn’t mind going back to try other things on the menu but for now, I’m going to keep exploring Lakeland and see what else is out there!

Hidden gem in lakeland Florida by far the best food I’ve had since I’ve been here (7.14.14) if you’re ever in the area must try. I will defiantly be back to try more

If you can find this place (not an easy task) you should give it a try. My wife and I both got the morning, which is a plantain mash like mashed potatoes. I wasn’t a fan but my wife was. The meal came with our choice of many meats, the fried pork and grilled chicken were both very good. The portions were too big for us but we are small people. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly. This place is worth trying if you are in the area.

Excellent lunch of Cuban sandwiches and lunch special of rice, beans, pork. So glad that we stopped by on our visit to this area. Our server was friendly and helpful. We ended our meal with fried yellow plantains and wished we had saved room for the flan too.

Tropico Latino has the best Pepper Steak that I have had in Central Florida, good music, entertainment via television, AND wonderful service too!

This is a really great option for something different in town. Most of my experiences here have been really great. My husband and I love the fried pork chops, and I love the stuffed yucca. I brought my parents here, who are very wary to try anything different. Unfortunately this visit was the only disappointing one I have had. They were out of most choices. I still love this restaurant, and if you live within 5 miles, they will deliver to you!

Nice little home cooked Puerto Rican restaurant in Lakeland, definitely unexpected.
The steak was good. The red beans and rice were awesome! The must have, fried yellow plantain! Cooked just the way I remember them back home in the VI.
Get there early, they close at 8.
