As a photographer and birder, for several years now, I have been utilizing Faith and Jim’s boat services at «The Eyes of the Wild» in Lakeport in Clear Lake. I’m really happy with it.
I’ve always enjoyed the early trips on the boat. Faith is always willing to do what is necessary in order to get fantastic pictures of grebes and other birds. I may add that, thanks to the expertise of Faith in locating the grebes and then approaching the boat in a split second, a couple of years ago I took a picture that won the Digiscoper of the Year Award, a worldwide photo award sponsored by Swarovski.
Faith’s expertise and knowledge in birding and photography, being a great photographer herself, makes possible to take what I think are the best pictures of grebes anywhere in the world.
Every year when the grebe season is on, I’m always looking forward to this extraordinary experience.

I chose this tour with Faith based on the reviews I read on Unilocal and I was so glad that I did! Even though this was not the best time of the year to photograph Grebes my guide Faith got me so many opportunities to get shots of pairs dancing and parents feeding their young. She is so in tune with the grebes that she can anticipate their moves. And since she is a photographer she always got me the best vantage point for the shot. I learned so much about the grebes as well as other wildlife on the lake.
I can’t wait to come back next spring/​summer and get more photographs and be in the company of Faith again! She is energetic and truly engaging! Thanks Grebe Lady!

My wife I returned to Lakeport for my 50th class reunion. Although I had lived there most of my childhood I had never experienced Clear Lake through «The Eyes of the Wild». Faith, our guide, was not only enthusiastic and knowledgeable but brought the lake to life in a way I’d never seen it before. The waterfowl on Clear Lake are truly one of God’s great creations. We will never forget the necking and dancing Grebes.

I have been on three tours with Faith and have yet to be disappointed! In the early spring the Grebes do their mating dance or «Rush» such a great photo opportunity. In August they have their babies and they can be seen riding on their parents back. Faith is so knowledgable and knows just when a pair will get up and rush! Its a great way to spend a morning with nature and local wildlife. I highly recommend this trip! Andy K

Faith and Jim are not only fabulous wildlife photographers, but also wonderful boat captains. Every time I’ve been out with them, Faith’s eagle-​eye has found something rare and wonderful to show us. The boat is clean and well-​maintained and Faith is so helpful and accommodating. It’s especially fun to take a group of your friends, although then sometimes we get so chatty we forget to look at the wildlife! Hahaha.

Today was my second trip with Faith Rigolosi to see Clark’s Grebes and Western Grebes do their dazzling courtship and mating displays. Her pontoon boat leaves from a public boat launch ramp in Lakeport, Calif.
Faith really knows these birds and wastes no time finding them and putting her boat in position for maximum viewing and photography. She is cheerful and informative. She seems to have as much fun as her clients!
Our group of birders/​photographers completely enjoyed watching the birds face off, splash water sideways, then stand up and run together in twos and threes for several seconds on top of the water (called rushing).
After choosing mates, the birds conduct a «weed ceremony» in which they entwine necks and present water grasses to each other.
