It is a busy little adventure all day Saturday and Sunday but you can also go on Thursday or Friday in the evening. There is everything you want on a small carnival fair scale including but not limited to farm animal 4H viewing; art, food, plant, textile exhibits; the food choices were okay but we missed the tritip sandwiches; two venues for music live and recorded; lots of nonprofit or commercial group booths; plentiful parking but a little pricey and it had a great clean up crew. I was a little disappointed that they did not have recycling containers but had workers going through the garbage to find cans. That seemed a little backward to me. We had fun people watching and everyone was nice, especially the volunteers who put hours in working different areas. I liked seeing Smokey the Bear but it seemed like they had less security this year but we were there from noon to five Saturday. All in all if you are taking a couple of kids, it could cost you around $ 100 bucks as you have to pay for parking and to get in obviously then you buy food, then an all day pass for rides is $ 25 for each child. Do the math, it could be more. I would recommend going on the days you get a discount which is usually the first day or buy your tickets in advance at local stores in your area on Wednesday before the fair. The two of us spent around $ 70 on tickets, parking, food, two drinks, ice cream and a bag of kettle corn. Just saying… it is a fun Labor Day event but a little pricey in reality for this economy.

Just went to the annual Lake County Fair in Lakeport. Families, corn dogs, beers, crepes, 4H junior livestock, raceway, midway stalls, rides, rock wall climbing, quilt show, produce… all on a small town scale. But not too small! Catch it though this Labor Day weekend 2012 and put it on your calendar for next year!
