We took our car in because the engine light was on, after no contact from them all day we finally called and they said they were delayed due to us being late for our appointment even though we were early — they never bothered to ask who we were. Didn’t hear from them until close to closing when we called again and they said they were washing the motor which had nothing to do with the problem that we brought the car in for — again they never bothered to ask who we were. At about 5 minutes to closing I called again and they said it was ready. We paid $ 99.00 to have an evap hose replaced, the light stayed off for a day until we were headed home from Ukiah and the engine light came back and the car died. We had to be towed and thankfully found a very trustworthy mechanic — Lopez Automotive — who stayed open late and waited for us to be towed. After a thorough inspection of the car it was determined that nothing was ever done! Tony at Lopez automotive was amazing and has up and running in no time.
Do not ever take your to S & K if you value good service

I have always enjoyed doing business with Lauren & Steve. They have rebuilt motors for me, fixed all my trucks and autos and never a problem. Most important they have always treated me with respect. A lot of local business do not understand this concept.

It’s been several years now since I did business with these two guys, I wanted to create my dream jeep but these fruit loops turned it into a nite mare!!! Lies false charges, shoddy work that took almost a year, the dark haired chubby guy flat out lied to me, told me my brand new heads from the ford dealership had to be flow checked!
GT-​40 heads need to be flow checked,(not)!!
I called the place, they had no small block heads there!!! I hate a friggin liar! Not only that the engine was far from level and wasn’t
In straight! The starter just kind of hung there at an angle, the headers leaked and were just pieced together, they were also brand new! I could go on and on but what for, these two morons rammed it to me with a smile! I had to literally start from scratch

Be more than careful– avoid at all costs! These guys are crooks and liars, and unless you’re their «buddies», you WILL be cheated! Their work is shoddy at best– when any actually gets done– there are frequent charges for «mystery» work that when checked, was never actually done. They ruined our truck’s engine, then tried to prevent us from taking it elsewhere after they still had not finished the «work» a MONTH later! Turns out they didn’t do a damn thing, and just let it sit there letting the fuel turn to varnish! He of course denied it, saying they had «just moved it out of the shop today». Of course, when I pointed out the complex network of spider webs attaching the wheels to the pavement and how it would be impossible for the vehicle to have been moved without disturbing them– he acted like 6 year-​old caught fibbing! Lies upon ridiculous lies!
Judge a business by how it presents itself– S&K Automotive is a dirty, run-​down junk heap– Google Street View it– it’s filthy, just like the owners. How they remain in business is a true local mystery– perhaps they are a front?
If you value your car and your hard-​earned cash, stay far away from these grifters!
(But if you need to destroy a car fast– take it to S&K for an oil change! It will be scrap metal in under an hour!)
