My husband and I came across this fantastic bookstore while on a recent trip to Lakeport. Wonderful selection of books, a charming and helpful owner and a very handsome iguana at home in a neat little room of children’s books at the back of the store! The bookstore has an attached opening into the retail space located next store. The owner of the bookstore has generously offered the attached store to local artists to sell their goods. All items sold are made with only local materials. The incredibly tasty jams and jellies are made by a Lakeport resident who uses local grapes that are usually trucked down to Napa County for wines. The cornbread mix is created with corn from a nearby farm. The honey from the resident bee keeper. Purses, jewlery, art work, carved wooden items… lots of unique items. Truly worth a look. We love to support a home town business. The people working both the bookstore and homemade gift shop are amazingly friendly and kind. If keeping small town America alive matters to you like it does to us, please stop in! You won’t be disappointed !

Watershed Books is located down town on Main St. Watershed looks like a little hole-in-the-wall from the front, but it’s actually quite large. You enter a small room with mostly new books and some little gift items. Off of the main room is a back room with children’s books and young adult books — but the coolest thing about this room is the pet iguana — my daughter loves it. Off the main room to the right is a large room with tall shelves full of books in a variety of subjects. There are many more books at Watershed than at Catfish(although Catfish may be closed now), but it’s a little more claustrophobic. Another thing that sets this store apart is their regular local author showings. We met a couple authors, picked up an autographed book, and had some wonderful sparkling pear cider. I love used book stores in general, but I always find something in here that I like.
