Great spot! Super cute building and happy to see a range of wines. We popped in with a group of 6 to cheerful guitar player on a Sat afternoon. It was raining and seating here is the best they can do inside(a touch small). But if you don’t mind squeezing in and being friendly(who doesn’t when drinking wine!?) a trip here will be a welcome addition to your shores wine tour! Plenty of seating outside on a pretty day!

Dry reds were pretty good. What really makes this place special is the location and the ambiance. If you are in the area it is a must for a glass of wine and some cornhole in the back area. There is live music most Saturdays.

We had the extreme pleasure of hosting our daughter and her wife’s reception at Red Fern Inn this past weekend. My review is going to be so glowing that it might strain credibility so I will try to stick with concrete examples of exemplary service, incredible hospitality and stunning location. I had met with the Redferns first back in January and they shared their plans for the Inn. When we came back in the summer, the Winery, backyard and the landscaping were even more beautiful than outlined back on that snowy cold January day. In the crazy preparation stage, Kim answered every email I sent always within a day and usually immediately or within hours. From hiding the wiring from the lights strung in the tent, to stocking the Cork and Barrel Room, to arranging the Adirondack chairs, to lighting the fire pits, to a personal note left in Laura and Ronnie’s room, to complimentary wine and an especially appreciated complimentary glass for me late afternoon the day before, to coordinating with music, caterer, florist to make sure everything was ready, to millions of other things that I didn’t notice but I am sure they took care of, the Redferns saw what needed to be done, checked with us re any preferences, and immediately took care of whatever unobtrusively, immediately and thoughtfully. Our family and part of our extended family stayed at the Inn. Perfect staging for the event, perfect at the end of the big night. I thought the rooms were so nice I took various guests away from the reception and then the brunch the next day to show off the rooms. This part is subjective, but was the concensus, it is a beautiful place and setting. And Kim and Chris are genuinely nice people and a pleasure to work with and bounce ideas off of. It’s a big deal to trust someone with an important life event like a wedding and a reception. Sincerely, before, during and now looking back, I do not think we could have been in better hands. And it was so fun too!

Normally I would not write a second review on an establishment I have previously written about. This past Saturday though I had the wonderful opportunity to come back to the Red Fern Inn at Rocky Point Winery. .. but for a wedding reception. .. and I thought it worthy of a review from this perspective that was so very different than my previous visit. Trying to think of how to summarize this event, the only word that’s coming to mind is WOW. The grounds were so magical and enchanted that I felt like I was in a Hollywood movie where Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant were going to walk out at any moment. The wedding itself was at the very close(less than a mile) Marblehead Lighthouse which is beautiful beyond measure and directly on the water’s edge with a beautiful rocky shoreline, crystal blue glistening water, and sailboats passing in the distance. The reception was then held at the winery under a beautiful white tent, twinkling white lights strung about everywhere, a parquet dance floor, the most beautiful flowers. .. all while being surrounded by the rows of grape vines so beautifully manicured by the vineyard keeper off in the distance. Enchanting, magical, breathtaking, romantic and stunningly beautiful are all words that apply. I’ve been blessed to attend many beautiful functions, but this inn and winery really are beyond compare. They understand the importance of the most delicious food at an event like this and treat it like an art. The service is impeccable. It is simply an extraordinary place to start a life to together and and make such a beautiful memory for the couple, family and every guest from young to old. If you’re looking to plan a wedding or reception, only come here if you want the most beautiful and amazing setting and experience possible. My highest recommendation.

Napa meets Key West on Ohio’s North Coast. My family and I often travel between Chicago and Cleveland. We recently had the good fortune of spending two nights at the Red Fern Inn and Rocky Point Winery. Set in a renovated grey stone school house, the Inn is a good mix of both modern and classic design and amenities. Our room was very large(with an enormous walk-in closet), hard wood floors, comfortable beds, a modern bathroom, and tasteful nautical and summer vacation décor. The Inn is located within walking distance to a ferry you can ride(with or without your automobile) to Kelley’s Island and the historical Marblehead Lighthouse. It is also a very short drive to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Port Clinton, Catawba Island and the ferry to Put-In-Bay. The Winery provides a terrific atmosphere to relax, unwind and socialize. The wine was delicious and the oak and marble tasting room provided a nice laid back, unrushed atmosphere but was always hopping with visitors sampling the wines and cheeses, having other drinks and just generally hanging out. That said, we never felt out of place with our 4 year old son either in the tasting room, on the sun deck or out on the very large lawn in the back of the Winery and Inn. The outdoor space is a great setting to catch fireflies with your kids, build a bonfire in one of the fire pits or play beanbag toss. If you are ever visiting Cedar Point in Sandusky or near Put-In-Bay or Kelley’s Island, you should check out the Red Fern Inn and the Rocky Point Winery. We highly recommend a visit this summer. It was so good it, in fact, it inspired my first travel review!

I don’t give 5 stars arbitrarily! This place blew me away! The room(The Lakeside) was romantic and perfect for the two of us, the amenities were subtle yet added a lot to our overall experience, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The winery is relaxing and has a Napa Valley feel and the live music was an excellent touch. Their selection was also pretty good for our taste. If you are looking for a B&B experience that will make you think about the place every night after you check out then this is the place for you!

We were not expecting to find this winery on our way to Oak Harbor State Park but there it was so we had to make it winery stop #54. It’s ok. Simple. Samples were small but we weren’t charged. What we found strange about wineries in this area is that they tend to all carry each other’s wines. Our experience probably would have been more fun had we tried out the adjoining restaurant. This area could benefit from more wineries. Thanks for the expeience!

We came in just for the winery on a super rainy Sunday and were pleasantly surprised. It is warm and welcoming. And comfortable. Super comfy leather chairs, nice layout, clean, & friendly. We had the whole place to ourselves! The house wines are decent — flight runs $ 7 plus tax for 61oz samples. The outdoor patio and yard seating look really nice but we didn’t want wet butts so we didn’t venture out. Oh, it’s open 7 days a week now. All in all its a really nice & chill place. I’m glad it rained!

It is very difficult to find an upscale modern hotel in an historic place like Marblehead. This winery was the perfect mix. Once inside the room, very clean and everything fresh and new. Yet, outside the room, the character of the building shines through. We are Lakesiders, and due to regulations, there is no alcohol. This winery will serve us well as we like to entertain friends, and this is the perfect close solution. The hostess Kitty was extremely friendly and a wonderful hostess, and the owner was not on site, but responded immediately via text when we had a small concern. This is a gem, and we are so happy to have a business like this in Marblehead.

My wife, kids and I stayed at the Inn when it first opened. It’s exactly what you’re looking for when you make a trip to Marblehead. The rooms are huge, new and clean. The location is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants and it’s very close to the lake. I’m sure this place is going to be full when the summer season starts, so you should probably make reservations now, or try it out in the spring when it’s less busy and make another reservation to come back in the summer. I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else when we go to Marblehead.

What a gem! I visited the Red Fern in on a snowy day this month. The facility is beautiful, and upon entry, you feel immediately at home. Warm, beautiful, and beautifully finished. Plus, you can really tell that the owners love the place. They are so welcoming and inviting, and are so knowledgeable of the area. A must see!
