Farm Country Cheese House, located in Lakeview Michigan offers Amish cheese, butter, jams, meats and more. This cheese house is likely going to be a good distance away from where you are but it is well worth the drive and makes a great afternoon destination via car or motorcycle. The quality of their products are spectacular and bring a new level of deliciousness. All of their cheese is made on location and you can see them in action M-F from 9am to 2pm. They offer a wide array of cheese styles, designed in a multitude of varying ingredients. All the milk is from the Lakeview area Amish farms and much of the actual cheese is made by Amish. All of the Amish cows are grass fed and contain no antibiotic evilness what so ever. Having visited a few times, I’ve sampled a good amount of what they carry and they continuously seem to rotate and expand their selections. In the realm of what cheeses I personally adore, I have had better from other Amish cheese houses. For instance, I wish their horseradish cheese had a stronger horseradish element to it. They do carry a selection of smoked cheeses as well however I do find the smokiness lacking in some selections. In addition, while their extra sharp is very good, they do not seem to carry an extra ‘extra’ sharp cheddar as well as aged cheeses. Don’t get me wrong, everything here is absolutely delectable, I am just spoiled and comparing it to other Amish cheese houses. Some of my all-time favorite Amish cheeses seem to originate out of Middlebury Indiana and some Ohio Amish farms. Some items worth mentioning are their extra sharp cheddar(white and yellow). It’s better than anything you can pick up from your local grocery stop. I also enjoy their smoked Gouda and smoky jack. Often they will carry Amish butter made from Ohio Amish farms. It is the best tasting pure butter and it runs about $ 10.00 for a 2 lbs log. They also sell a rhubarb jam made from Coral Michigan Amish, $ 4.81 for 10oz jar. If jam is your thing then this is sure to be a favorite. The store front itself is on the small size however they pack it full and offer limited tastings. They also feature a discounted price on a select cheese varieties each week. While I might have had better from far off places, this place is less than a day’s drive away. For that I remain a lifelong fan and will return many times.

Out of the way but worth the effort. They use milk of local, hand milked, Amish farms to make a product of naturally raised, grass fed & antibiotic free product. I love the Extra Sharp Yellow Cheddar as well as the Horseradish. Just a hint of a bite. They even offer morning tours of their cheese making.
