Only want brand-new or like-new items. And for those they do take in, they barely pay you anything. Places like these are usually a rip-off anyways. Recommend this app called postmark for resale!

I love the layout of this store– consignment shops can easily be overloaded with stuff, but Avalon Exchange maintains it’s boutique appearance by carefully curating its collection of clothing and accessories. They have a great eye for everything daring and funky– reminiscent of the wardrobe of «RENT.» If you’re style is relatively tame and subdued, you will probably not find something here to suit your fancy. My only beef with this store is their pricing. A clearly worn sweater from Khol’s should not cost $ 15 in my opinion. I understand paying a little extra for true vintage pieces or high quality brands, but if it’s a shirt from target or forever 21, it should cost $ 5 or less.

I tend to stop in and try to avoid anything other than selling, but that barely ever works because the store does have a great selection. I’m more so impressed with its employees. They are always kind. Thanks for a great experience every time I come in!

This place is great! We usually go to the Coventry store but my BF purchased a north face shell jacket, some men’s winter Uggs and a few other items over the phone so we made a trip up to Lakewood(from akron) and they did not disappoint. Both of the chicks there were friendly, helpful and patient(we were there a little past closing time). Jess was the one who assisted us and she was very down to earth and personable! She even threw in an incentive for our trip! All in all the trip was worth it. Great atmosphere, clean appearance, cool stuff for the low and there’s a bunch of other stuff to do in the area as well.

The inventory at this Avalon is really hit or miss. When I find pieces I like, they’re usually from Target, H&M, or brands from Kohl’s. The prices for these have been WAY too aggressive, more than 50% of what they probably were originally at these stores… Two years ago. The vintage pieces here are sparse compared to the amount of newer used clothing. When I find vintage pieces I love here in my size, they’re worth the splurge. Their pricing is high, but I’ve had nothing but friendly, helpful service from the employees! I know their regiment of buying clothes is notoriously ridiculous. If you’re expecting to make a little cash or earn store credit, think again. But if you’re casually shopping without a specific piece in mind, you have a decent shot of finding something at this Avalon.

Horrible customer service. I brought in designer brand new never worn shoes that retail for about $ 160 that they rejected with barely looking at and walked around to see a pair for sale that was dirty, but I guess mine weren’t good enough. Expensive for«resale». Everyone who works there is rude

I shop here often and usually end up with some cute pieces. I like the idea of bringing in some gently used items, and trading them in to keep my wardrobe fresh. I typically just use the trade to pick out more things, as you get more in store credit than cash. My advice to you is to wait until the tall, tattooed gentleman is working though. If you have interesting pieces, he is your guy, as I feel he’s the only one with an eye for fashion forward attire. Not to sound harsh, but the last time I went in to trade, the girl working seemed bothered that she even had to get up from her stool to help me. Not to mention,(and I say this because I work at a fashion boutique myself) she didn’t appear as somebody that even wants to work in retail, she looked dirty, like she took no pride in her appearance whatsoever. That aside, she only picked out the most«basic b*tch» thing I had, disregarding all of my barely worn, expensive vintage reproduction dresses and pin-up wares. I realize that isn’t everyones taste, but I do buying at my own store, and you cant just pick out things that are your own personal style. Perhaps if I had brought in ripped up mom jean shorts she would have selected those? At the end of the day, I will continue to shop here because I generally do like what they offer. I just hope they don’t start phasing out the unique stuff and turning it into a Platos Closet type store.

«We must never confuse elegance with snobbery.» — Yves Saint Laurent So I popped in yesterday to find my wife a cool birthday present. To help facilitate this endeavor, I thought I’d trade in some high end duds that just outlasted their stay in my closet. Not that they suck, I am just so well off that I am bringing home too much good fashion to fit in my house. Better fashion than you will find here. I wasn’t looking to make fifty bucks or anything. Maybe just like twenty in store credit towards a bigger purchase for my lady. I brought in some Burberry, BCBG, Forever 21, Guess, and a Cavs warmup. Well worth fifty plus, but I’m realistic. I was ready for twenty five, maybe? Before I could even fill out the form, homegirl had assesed my wares. She said they could only buy the WalMart Cavs jacket. Wait, so you don’t want actual cool designer stuff, but you want the thing I bought at Walmart while I was picking up salisbury steak and toilet paper? It seemed like she didn’t really even inspect everything. Which I find disrespectful. Maybe she thought they were fakes? Listen honey, I don’t rock fake shit like you. It’s legit. And frankly would give your shitty inventory a shot in the arm. I came in here around Christmas and was supremely underwhelmed. I’ve seen nicer stuff at Value World. Now maybe, just maybe they don’t take high end stuff? Funny, cuz my wife sold some Armani shoes here. And I’m staring at fucking Saint Laurent heels on the counter as my trade is being rejected. I was utterly flabbergasted. I don’t really get this business model. Post pix of designer stuff on Instagram, but deny it when it walks through your door. I mean I just really… what? So in this equation, this business lost. Lost decent inventory to move, a possible bigger sale and any future business from me.

I was here with some of my friends looking to start our summer wardrobe and tuck away some of their cheaper fall/winter things for next season. While we were in the dressing room, my friends and I were laughing and chatting about something while trying on the clothes we picked out. One of the girls who works here came into the dressing rooms and very rudely told us that if we didn’t plan on buying anything and was just using this place as a «hang out spot«, then we should leave. I was very disgusted and left without buying anything. I would give Avalon one star but, it is very organized and clean. Plus, they have good styles. Just be prepared for absolutely terrible costumer service from some of their workers.

I love Avalon. The employees are great and the prices are about 30% of retail(I checked). One of my most recent purchases was a awesome green dress which I wore despite the freezing weather. You can bring your pets in the store(which I plan to do when the weather warms up). I’ve been in the malls and the swanky stores and they just don’t have the variety(or the prices) that Avalon does. I don’t care what the trends are, I have my own style. I used to shop at the thrift stores but even after months of going almost daily the items I wanted never showed up. At Avalon you have less to look through and a higher chance of finding what you want. Thrift store prices aren’t always dirt cheap. For example I purchased an Ann Taylor Blazer from the thrift store for $ 9(the original price would have $ 150 – 200), in addition I paid 12.50 to dry clean it… that comes to $ 21.50. In Comparison the Express blazer from Avalon was for $ 14.50(retail price approx $ 100) and I simply steamed it at home.

Avalon consistently offers a great collection of quality classic and new age fashion at all price points. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the experience is always great!

What’s not to like about Avalon? It’s higher end, gently used clothing on the cheap. Hugo Boss Odoma collection jacket for $ 35? Alright! You can bring clothing in as well, exchanging it for cash or in store credit. Over all neat place, with some good seasonal sales that’ll send you home with some pretty nice pieces for your wardrobe without breaking your bank if you’d bought them at full retail value. The store is inviting, music isn’t too loud and the lighting seems to work just right, not blinding, but not too dull as to obscure whatever it is you’re looking at. Staff is friendly, and the manager is knowledgable on what he’s selling, and is always a pleasure to jabber with. All in all, there’s not much reason –not– to go, if you ask me.

Avalon, Avalon, Avalon. In theory I love you but in practice sometimes you leave me feeling a little bewildered. I have too much stuff so naturally Avalon Exchange should be a wonderful solution to my little prob. They have clothing, shoes, and accessories for both young men and juniors/women, and the space is very attractive. It’s pretty easy to navigate, and the store is clean and nicely well maintained. It’s especially helpful that off street parking is available in the back, with a back door as well, so you do not have to trudge through Lakewood with a big bag if clothes to sell. I’ve had some excellent selling experiences here, and always when the male employee/manager(? He has tattoos and is kind of reserved but friendly) is buying. The thing is, pretty much every time another employee is looking through my gear to possibly buy, they overlook the scores and play it super safe by selecting only pieces originally from Target, H&M, and other mass retailers. I do understand that they can’t always buy a ton due to space restrictions and over stocking or items just not matching their needs, but today really made me confused. I brought barely carried designer purses, brand new on-trend shoes, vintage men’s items in desirable heritage brands and so much more. The buyer chose maybe 6 things, all uninteresting fast fashion instead of unique pieces. It just seems like a missed opportunity for the store to purchase, for example, black leather cowboy boots, when their shelves are stocked with plastic booties from Forever 21. Oh well I’ll keep bringing in my carefully selected things every season. I’d love to say I’ll also drop by to shop, but my size isn’t well represented at all, and I find it a little ridic to buy second hand old navy clothing! Gotta leave that stuff for the Basics to buy…

This was my first visit and I was very impressed. I have been to a lot of consignment shops, but this place is one of the best in the Cleveland area. People who embrace personal style and not fashion should go shopping at Avalon. They have alot of great pieces. They also carry heels, bags & jewelry.

Yay first review! I love this place! I come here to sell my stuff all the time, bc my closet is overflowing and I love having a constant flowing stream of new outfits. I’ve sold things back to here that i’ve bought and I’ve bought a bunch more stuff. I’m not sure that i’ve actually ever spent any money here, bc I always ask for store credit when I sell my stuff here. it’s pretty much the best deal ever. new outfits for like no extra money. yay!
