Center For Advanced Dermatology

Today was my first (and last) visit to the Center for Advanced Dermatology. The front desk staff was really friendly so initially, I felt like I made a great choice. However, as soon as I saw Ken, the PA, things changed. I have a significant amount of skin cancer on both sides of my family and I was concerned about spots on my face and legs. Ken could not have been any more rude, rushed or belittling. He acted as though my problem was simply vanity. I came there to ease my mind that the spots were not skin cancer. I wasn’t asking for botox or plastic surgery. He informed me he could remove some of them, but it would cost a lot because it was all cosmetic. It is so frustrating when you make an appointment at a doctor’s office hoping for medical advice and instead of help, you are insulted. Save yourself the time, money and humiliation and try elsewhere. Now I have to find another «doctor» who will take the time to answer my questions and explain to me treatment options instead of making me feel like some vain idiot.

The Doctor and PA are helpful and I have no complaints with the ones we have seen. The Billing department however, is literally a nightmare. The person in this department has absolutely no idea what they are doing. I have received several different invoices from them ranging from $ 115 dollars to $ 1,080 over 4 months! The visit was in the middle of October and the billing is still screwed up. They flat lied to me and told me I had to call my insurance company and give them additional information to get the claim paid. I spoke to the insurance company and was told that is not true. They said they were waiting on the office to send them the correct information to justify why they were overcharging for the procedure. I was also told by my insurance company that the office cannot bill us directly for that amount because it was breaking their contract with the insurance company. (So when the insurance company would not pay the overcharges, they tried to go around them and bill me directly for the excessive amounts) Wow!!! talk about underhanded and probably illegal. I wonder how many times they have done this to other people. Now 4 months later I am being told I owe 2 different amounts again. And do not waste your time calling the billing department for answers, she is the RUDEST most UNPROFESSIONAL person I have had to deal with in a long time.
4 months after the visit and she still can’t get it right. It is a complete nightmare. Because of the rude, unethical, billing department, I am switching to a different dermatologist. They stole from me this time but NEVER again. I will also be filing a complaint through my insurance companies grievance department so they can investigate this shady practice further.

If I could put zero stars I would. Don’t waste your money. The doctors don’t do anything they walk in take a magnifying glass to your skin and assign a random medication for you (often the most expensive medication as well) they also don’t explain anything unless you ask them. Another thing I found is that their assistants seem to do all the work. Running back and forth writing out prescriptions explaining skin issues to you and answering questions. It’s all rushed. The front desk girls are rude, and don’t look you in the eye. The last time I called she simply said «Their is nothing I can do for you.» Rather then making suggestions to help me solve my problem I basically had to force her to transfer me to the doctors voicemail. Please do not waste your money find a smaller office with less Doctors do that you’ll actually learn more about how to take care of your skin and body. This place might look pretty but when it comes to customer service it disgusts.

Not bad, not bad at all. I got in super quick, and the appointment was super quick. I saw Ken, the PA, and he was professional and very clear with all his education and instructions. The ladies in the front office are pretty cool, and they do everything they can to help you out. They even have an attached med-​spa with medical aestheticians, score! So next time you feel like getting a facial at the doc’s office, here it is! I like that it’s separate, so it doesn’t feel so clinical when you’re in the medspa.

I’ve been to this center twice now, each time for an annual cancer skin check. I have found the staff to be courteous and professional. While the actual doctor visit is fast, I have found Dr. McDonnell to be efficient and has always listened to any concerns. I am also appreciative that I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes past my appointment time to be seen.

I was a customer for several years. I got used to the way they just rush you in and out, and spent the absolute minimum amount of time with you. Then one day, I got a notice from a Collection Agency, telling me that this business turned over a $ 20.00 bill to collect. I had no idea that I owed them $ 20, and if I did, I would have paid it immediately. Instead, they just turned it over to a Collection Agency, and ruined my credit for a whopping $ 20! They didn’t even try to call me or send me a letter that said I owed them money… nope! they just ruined my credit for a lousy $ 20. Thanks a whole lot, you idiots. Oh… did I mention when I called them to ask about it, that they were rude and wouldn’t even spend 1 minute helping me understand how this happened? I would give them MINUS 5 stars if I could! Hate this place… don’t go there!

I went to see them about balding in my beard. I wasn’t able to see the dermatologist so I set the apt with the PA. Was told that I had nothing to worry about and all would regrow like normal. He was very arrogant and had a pompous attitude. They injected the spots with steroids and sent me home without a full explanation or clear understanding of what exactly was happening. The spots grew and worsened. The next time I went in, I was told yet again that I had nothing to worry about and the spreading won’t continue. I specifically asked about it spreading to my head, and was told, «no, you won’t lose your hair.» The spreading continued to my head and I have since been to a new dermatologist. I will never be back here due to lack of physician/​patient relationship and overall patient care.

I must say that I did not have an experience similar to the other reviewers. Upon calling the receptionist was extremely friendly and she reassured me that she scheduled me with her personal favorite practitioner. When I arrived I was checked in and greeted by the sweetest girl ever. She made me feel extremely welcome and did a very thorough job of explaining things. I literally only waited about two minutes in the waiting room before I was taken back by a very kind nurse. Before I even saw the practitioner I had already been given excellent advice on how to treat a skin condition my daughter has (mind you the appointment wasn’t even for my daughter, but for myself). I didn’t wait long to see the practitioner, Maryanne, and she was very knowledgeable. I was actually only scheduled for a consultation but she took the time to see me and treat me on the spot. I have scheduled an appointment for my daughter and my family will definitely be back to visit this practice. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that it is difficult to get appointments so you may need to find a few providers you like to see.

I’ve seen these good people for skin issues for years. The docs and Ken are knowledgeable and diagnose and resolve conditions quickly and correctly. They are busy, so won’t spend a lot of time shooting the breeze with patients. The staff are businesslike and professional, not rude like other reviewers have said. They don’t fawn over the patients and won’t act like your new best friend. If you are looking for a new best friend, don’t go here. If you want a right on diagnosis of your skin condition and professional help healing it, this is the place.

On the aesthetics side, everyone that works there is very snobby and they don’t care about your condition/​s. They are so vain they only care about themselves, and they make very apparent with the WORST customer service ever. I have never been so insulted when paying for services. NEVER AGAIN.

Dr. David Hurt, Donna, Terrie and the rest of the team at the Center for Advanced Dermatology are amazing! They are extremely professional, accommodating, and always very friendly. Dr. Hurt is a GREAT Doctor. I have always been really happy with the procedures he does for me! I would highly recommend CAD to anyone looking for a great Dermatologist.

The level of unprofessionalism and just general rudeness of the staff (PAs and doctors included) absolutely blows me away. My treating PA once told me they didn’t have time to answer my (called-​in) urgent question because they see over FIFTY patients a day. This office is run as a factory rather than a medical treatment center.

Paid $ 350 and two copay’s to have a wart removed which included an initial appointment and follow up. Seems very overpriced for an appointment with a Physician’s Assistant that took less than 3 minutes and only required the PA to shoot my wart with nitrogen. No surgery.
Also, PA was pretty condescending when I asked him questions about my skin. He told me the only way to have better skin is to take Accutane. He didn’t even listen to my questions. I’ve had light blemishes/​red spots on my elbow for 4 months. I tried explaining to him that I didn’t think they were acne because they’ve been there for so long. He cut me off «like I said, Accutane is the only thing that’s going to get rid of acne». He seemed really annoyed to deal with me. Which would be fine, if it was free. I don’t pay $ 100 per minute to get treated like an idiot.

Wow talk about a rude staff. I went to buy some skincare products and when I approched the receptionist at the front desk she was so rude. She didnt smile and she was very snobby when I asked her where the products were located so I could look at them. I have never heard anything good about this place. Im glad I didnt let them touch my face!

I have had botox before, but just moved here and thought I’d give this place a try. The staff was very rude although the Dr., was friendly, I was left with bruises and never had this procedure feel so painful before. He was very rushed and when I tried to pay, the staff completely ignored me. When I did get someone to take my payment she rudely told me to go to a different desk. The place was packed and his assistant literally frightened me with the amount of plastic surgery she had done. Will never go back.
