Garrison Street Grill

The absolute worst of all time. Hair in my food. Told the waiter that it was the nastiest thing I’ve ever tasted ever when he asked why I hadn’t ate anything and he took my plate, said nothing and proceeded to just bring me my full bill. I then signed stood up and literally threw up on the table because the two bites I had were so nasty. Dead flower centerpieces were the perfect touch to the most pathetic dining experience I’ve been a part of. I wish you could give negative stars.

Went there on a Sunday with a friend for Breakfast. I used to go to Café Del Sol for years and always loved it. The waitress we had barley spoke to us and was quite surly during our time there. The food was ok, I had steak and eggs, my friend an egg skillet. It does not look like they have done much updating and the sweet bird feeders in the windows are gone. Over all the place was quite empty and depressing. Sorry to say I will not be back.

Was there for a party — the wings are really good, some of the best I’ve had in a long time.

I had eaten at Café Del Sol once about 16 years ago and couldn’t bring myself to give it another try until about 6 months ago. There were no new surprises and no reason for me to ever to go back, I just really didn’t like the food, the atmosphere or the attitudes of the wait staff. Just my take, others may like it.
I noticed the name and signs recently changed and was excited about the possibilities. I was hoping, really hoping we would have a nice new neighborhood grill similar to Sloan’s or Tellers. That didn’t happen. I gave it a shot for lunch last week with a co-​worker and was disappointed to see the same menus, same staff, same attitudes, same crowd, same décor and same cold food.
Too bad, what an excellent location.
So much for that.

Pretty much Casa del Sol only a little less Mexican. Our server was a bit overwhelmed and seemed agitated that I wanted her to take my order. She kept taking orders on the other side of the room and told me twice she’d be back. The third time she reluctantly took my order.
I had the Irish egg rolls which were actually quite delicious. They arrived much to my pleasure hot and with good presentation. The beer selection still leaves much to be desired. We have our monthly dive meetings here and I was hoping for some huge improvements but the little ones are better than nothing. It was nice to have an somewhat upgraded menu, a hot appetizer and a cold beer after a long day at work.

Hmmm… not too cool. Friendly staff, pretty good service, nice menu, but one thing bothered me: fake Swiss cheese on my rueben. Real Swiss makes this sammie, and to use cheap, processed cheese is a huge miss.

I don’t get the bad reviews. There’s nothing fancy there, but the food is good and the price is right. I had the mini fish ‘n chips, and my boyfriend had the steak burger for lunch. Both were cooked well. I like their coleslaw and French fries. Service is attentive. It’s not packed, but they don’t advertise. They’d be busier if they even did a coupon once in awhile.

We were SO excited to try the newly opened, and we hoped refurbished (Formerly the sadly fallen in the dumps longtime neighborhood favorite ‘Café Del Sol’) Garrison Street Grill. We were hoping for a fresh menu, décor and attitude… Something more like Tellers on Youngfield and 20^th which we frequent regularly. Sadly it was more the same than different. The plus’s: It was cleaned up, new-​ish chairs, new carpeting, very good service (same waitress as old restaurant), and the burger was good. The opportunities: mostly the same outdated menu, bathroom in need of update, same cooks we were assured (not necessarily a plus), just generally a gramma’s house vibe. The person I think was the owner didn’t say hi or check in with us, although he was around. Don’t know if we will try it again, although great location and blocks from our home. Maybe breakfast is better? We may give that a try-​if they have the same Del Sol Green Chili… I did always enjoy that.
