Kinecta Federal Credit Union

I Just open an account from this credit Union not the best… holding hostage my Payroll Check for 7 Days I can understand other check but Payroll Check. I might close my acct. and their bill pay not the best. Compared to other credit Union its like old school. While the other does it electronically. for major credit card and Utilities.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the tellers. I’ve been banking with them since they were Hughes Credit Union.

They have been great so far with my new auto loan!

Short and simple. I LOVE KINECTA! Better than any other banks! No sneaky fees just straight up keeping money in your shoebox style! I think there’s a minimum of 5 $ on checking or saving can’t remember which one but 5 $ is better compared to 1000 $ I had like .50 cents in my account for like a year with no problems haha! Great bank recommended to anyone

Kinecta stole our car!!! Do not do business with these people. This is a true story due to their clerical mistakes, and not any fault of our own, Kinecta repo’d our car. We sent them all of the paperwork showing their error and we were sent from person to person. It took them 5 weeks for us to get it back because no one wanted to take responsibility! We finally got it back without an apology. One week later it was repo’d again because they forgot to clear up their mistake! We have a newborn and have not been able to take her places that we need to. Kinecta is the worst example of an organized and well run organization i have ever dealt with. Please do not do business with this company!

They hold your check forever even though its been cleared for more than four days and your funds are still not available

I joined this bank because of a referral from a friend who is happy there, the Lakewood branch is pleasant to deal with BUT Unfortunately the Fountain Valley location is the one that is near me and they ruined the whole experience for me. They are very rude. I commend this branch for being so pleasant but I ended up leaving the Kinecta Credit Union over how I was treated at another branch.

When I first opened my account with Kinecta 6 years ago, the customer service was pretty good. Things have sadly taken a turn for the worst over the years…
I have a few accounts with this credit union and they have made many mistakes over the past year. A recent one was that they withheld money from my account because they read the amount incorrectly on the check that I deposited at the ATM. The ironic thing is that the ATM printed out a copy of the check for me and it clearly stated a higher amount. The teller didn’t even apologize. He said that it looked wrong anyway. He lied to my face. Then it took them a week to return the money. It was such a headache.
More recently, their practices regarding other loan services have become increasingly difficult to deal with. Online banking has become a nightmare and other services are painstakingly slow.
There are problems within the branch, including a woman who was unwilling to help me look over some documents because it overwhelmed her… seriously, that is exactly what she said. She even had me talk to the phone representative in the matter instead of handling it herself like any normal bank would. The employees are incredibly rude. Steer clear of this company altogether!

I’m honestly surprised at the low reviews for Kinecta, especially at this branch. I’ve had nothing but good to great customer service here. Most of the tellers are quick and polite. There’s a younger guy there who always has a dumb, «cool guy» smirk on his face but other than that, no problems. My wife and I financed a used car loan through Kinecta and it could not have gone more smoothly.
FYI: They are open on Saturdays until 2pm.

I came here because the person buying my car got a loan from here and what I thought was going to a quick and easy transaction turned into a 2 hour ordeal.
The representatives seemed nice enough, they just lack the attention to detail and efficiency required when filling out important legal/​financial documents. Example, she had to redo a bunch of paperwork because she spelled my name with an «h.» Umm. hello, you have ALL my information right in front of you.
I guess loans are laborious, but next time I sell something, I’m only going to except CA$H, period.

No, this is not the Santa Monica location for sure. The floor is dirty & they do not provide the service I needed. They sent me somewhere else that made me upset.
I won’t say any more.

This is one of the credit unions I used to belong to. For the most part, I did like being a member of Kinecta. There are a couple things about it I found a little maddening, though:
1) Even though Kinecta’s online banking interface has a look very similar to the big banks, it sometimes goes down without any prior notice. Also, the canceled check images don’t always appear the same day the check clears.
2) I don’t know who their debit card vendor is, but I had problems where the card wouldn’t work at any Albertsons grocery store, and nowhere else. I ended up ordering a replacement debit card, which, thankfully, worked when I took a trip to Albertsons afterward.
When making an ATM deposit into their own proprietary ATMs, Kinecta puts a 2-​day hold on it, even though the first $ 100 is immediately available. If you deposit into a co-​op, non-​Kinecta ATM, there will be a 5-​day (!) hold placed. Make sure you have a lot of money already available if you’re depositing a payroll check!
The member service, both on the phone and in person at the branch, is decent. The service reps are friendly enough, though not overly so. My main concern, however, is that I had discovered that Kinecta (as a whole) did not get a high financial rating, either on Bauer Financial or
(both of them rated Kinecta 2 out of 5 stars). That alone sealed the deal for me and factored in my decision to close my account with them. Hopefully they improve.
There are better credit unions out there. Just do your homework!
