This review is for Kumon Lakewood:
Pros: Kids learn math through repetition. This is a good program to learn basic math calculations.
Cons: Parents do most of the teaching and have to grade all worksheets. The staff is stretched, and there is very little actual teaching. You pretty much pay for them to give you worksheets. This program is good for learning calculations, but not for working story problems where they have to figure out how to set up the problem which is what they have to do in school.
It is a bit expensive, and there are lots of add on fees. The center director is hard to communicate with and does not reply very quickly to calls or emails if at all.

If you are looking for actual tutoring program to help your child get ahead this is not the place for you. This is just a workbook program — they get worksheets and do them then someone checks them and if they have wrong answers they tell them they are wrong and to redo them, they do not sit down and walk thru how to do it or help. You are essentially paying a lot of money for worksheets. If your child is already ahead and just looking to stay on track then I think this program is fine.
