McChord AFB Base Exchange

This store seems very dated compared to its off-​base competitors like Target and Wal-​Mart. The Exchange reminds me of obsolete stores like Sears, Kmart, and Shopko. Its prices did not seem very competitive either.

Had such a bad experience at the McChord BX. We wanted to buy an electronic product and have the catalog with us. When we get to the store, they told us we were limited to only buying two per day. Where on the catalog does it disclose that info, no where. On top of that we were in line to get into the store and when we got to the back where the products were they told us we had to get a number and that’s how they were doing it. So we were there an hour waiting doesn’t mean anything nor did anyone told us how they were working it. People don’t have any professionalism working here and let alone any communication skills. Totally dissapointed at how this location treated us that day. Great saving true on some items but if it’s poor service with poor attitudes, no one is going to give you great reviews. #bxmcchord #badservice #poorcommunication #needsbettertraining #servicesucks

Ahhh, how I’ve missed the BX! Ever since I turned «of age» and lost my privileges of going to the base and shopping, I’ve longed to be able to get back on, lol. Thankfully, my Pops is retired Air Force and took me for a small (very small lol) shopping spree at the BX. I love how everything is significantly cheaper and no tax! Although they don’t carry everything, they carry enough that you can’t complain. From Apple products to Dooney & Bourke, the BX is well supplied folks. But our military heroes and their families deserve it.
The BX is like a one stop shop: candy, snacks to clothes for the whole family to electronics to makeup to jewelry. Only thing missing is groceries — which can be found at the Commissary across the street ;)
I ended up with some Too Faced makeup products at $ 8-​$ 10 cheaper than Sephora and a watch I’ve been looking for which came with free adjustments. All the while, with smiles not just from every employee but also all the customers. No one can help smiling when they’re saving money baby!

Just transient thru the base and this exchange is bigger and offers more than the mall and exchange combined where I’m stationed at. Haven’t walk in it and not found what i needed or not been ask if i needed help.

The store is full of stuff you wouldn’t wear and stuff you can buy cheaper elsewhere. They would really rev up business if they had layway. Really meant for a captive military audience.

Service in the PowerZone has been consistently terrible. This location also reneges on their offer to price match and does not honor store coupons.

Good size BX, their clothes selection is somewhat average. The electronics selection is nice, especially the Apple products. You can save about $ 10-​$ 20 compared to the Apple store. Fishing section is pretty lame. If your product has a coupon on it, make sure you do not peal it off. Let the cashier do it or you might get griped at for doing it trying to be helpful.

This is a huge place that really carries everything you will ever need. The no sales taxes is nice, especially for liquor (no ridiculous liquor taxes), but it doesn’t make up for the prices here (except liquor). The prices here are pretty high compared to places off base, but they do have a decent selection of clothes that are priced pretty decently. My favorite part of this place? The food court! There are lots of delish places, and I recommend the sushi/​korean fushion place. Yum!

For me it’s my favorite military exchange in Washington. I’ve been to all the big ones and this one is by far the largest store with the best overall selection. While in general the value of the exchange has gone down somewhat over the years with the growth of stores like Costco and
there are still products that you can get here at incredible prices. Plus some of the profits goes to MWR (morale welfare and recreation) for military members. It’s a privilege to be able to shop at these stores.

Used to NEX in Marysville… holy cow… this BX is huge. It’s about the size of a mall. It has various restaurants (pizza, Chinese, fried chicken, Mexican, etc), there’s an optical store, even a free play area for kid. This is a very nice and clean place to shop.

I stopped by the base on a roadtrip to check it out and shop. Distracted by the teriyaki, I threw my purse onto the seat next to me and at the end of the meal, walked away from it like I didn’t have a care in the world. A couple hours later I’m in Portland and realized that my bag is nowhere to be found. We called Exchange and they assure us that the bag is safe and after some working out, they have the entire thing express overnight shipped to us to my California address! The morning after I get back home, my bag arrives with everything intact.

At the BX on the air force base has a better selection the the PX on Fort Lewis has. They have tons of different things that the PX doesn’t have. Still like them both.

This BX is huge! The place is about the size of a decent shopping mall. There is very large food court inside with Popeyes, Manchu Woks, Charley’s, Anthony Pizza, Robin Hood, a Mexican place, and a bobo tea stand. They also have a Starbuck at the grocery entrance, and they have a very large shopping avenue connecting the food court to the grocery area with common BX shops such as GNC and barbershop.
On a regular weather day, the place has very few people, but if rain catches on during lunch hour, this place will filled up rather quickly.
