Sound Credit Union

We have been members of Sound Credit Union for over four years. We primarily use the Lakewood branch but have been in the downtown Tacoma office several times. The staff at both locations has always been friendly, helpful, and professional. It is nice to be treated as an individual person and not just another account. I would highly recommend Sound!

The moment you walk in you’re hit with bullet proof glass and a very sterile place, no desk with pictures no paper on any desk the place looks sad and cold, with no life in it.
I went in to try and open a joint bank account with my husband. You have to give them all you personal information though the hole in the glass no privacy, anyone standing around you can here you give the teller you SS number, phone number all your personal information, and you can here the lady next to you ask why her account is negative.
We went in the first time and I was told I needed two forms of ID and proof of address, I only had my driver license. We left and came back, I brought a power bill that had both our names on it, my passport and my license. I repeated giving my information to the lady through the non-​private hole in the wall. She asked us to then take a seat and someone would come over to finish setting up the account.
I waited a few minutes and someone came over, only to ask me if I had my SS card on me. I told her no you never asked me to bring it. She told me they couldn’t verify my identity through their «check system» She told me this was normal it happens a lot. but that my SS number was not showing up in their system. I was very angry at this point. This was the second trip to open an account. I have great credit and have lived in the area for a very long time. Why wont a passport work. The lady was then rude and said «well sorry what do you want me to do.»
this place is horrid. Run Run Run.
