As a former customer/employee, I’ll bite. I’ve shopped here before moving here since they opened about 7 years ago. They are in a new location now which is WAY better than the old location. Easy in. Easy out. The name could be a bit misleading for some… It’s not a warehouse, it is indeed a retail store. Not the greatest name if you ask me. The store is pretty large, housing beer, wine, and liquor, along with snack items, newspapers, smokes, etc… IMO it is a bit much. I think there is plenty they could do away with. As a craft beer drinker when I see Bud Light, Coors, PBR(quantity beer) it makes want to vomit. Mike’s Hard, Twisted Tea, etc., also fall into that category. I guess if you want to try and cater to everyone, that’s fine. I prefer quality over quantity. The store itself is a bit overwhelming, but they do have pretty much anything you could possibly need. My one main complaint is this… I am all for being greeted when entering a store. However, let me breathe, give me a few minutes and then feel free to come ask me if you can help me with anything. I don’t want to hear, «What can I help you find?» right as I enter the store. Step back, relax and approach after a few if at all. Global does decent business as there is no competition(for the most part), which goes for lots of businesses in the Down East area. Meaning, you can be a jerk and people will still do business with you because there is little/no other option. Josh(Store Manager) is a cool bastard. Helpful and knows his shit. Ryan(owner) knows more than most when it comes to anything alcohol related. Jamie, Shayna, Shelly and the rest of the gang are super nice and always helpful. Overall. So-so.

We were back home for my best friend’s wedding this past summer and seeing as how my husband and I have become insufferable wine snobs, we were jonesing for some good St-Emilion and California Pinot. My BFF brought us here and we were more than able to find everything we wanted. It’s organized extremely well, with a wide selection of wines from all over the world(I didn’t expect to find some of this stuff in downeast Maine). The prices are extremely reasonable(again, especially considering the location) and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s like a little oasis in the middle of Budweiser and Allen’s Coffee Brandy Country.
