Food was good, our meal and appetizers took nearly 2 hours to get. Ordered the sampler platter and it was mediocre. I looked for the oysters in it, and was told they were out. I had to say something in order to get the amount of food I ordered at this point.

Drove in from Round Rock(took about 50 minutes) to try the Sunday brunch and man was it worth the drive! Seafood Gumbo was some of the best I’ve ever had(I had to buy a bunch to go) and the chicken and waffles were great too! I can’t wait to make it back out to try the rest of the menu! What a wonderful break from all of the corporate restaurant chains!

This place was was fantastic. We live an hour away and know that we will definitely be coming back in the near future. The drinks were great. Appetizers were on point. The entrees are well priced for the quality and amount of food given. Hands down, it was the best chicken and sausage gumbo I have ever eaten. The alligator and catfish basket with okra was perfectly fried and seasoned severed on top of golden seasoned fries. Looks like a fun place to hang out and have a few drinks while catching up with friends or watching sports. Nice job! Now let’s keep this one open and frequently visit this place ;-)

Excellent food and service has improved since they opened in July. The catfish topped with etoufee is delicious! Seafood boudin balls are a must. I look forward to trying the brunch.

The food and service are both outstanding. Gumbo was rich and meaty. As good as any in New Orleans. The red beans and rice were top notch. Oysters, shrimp, catfish and hushpuppies were cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back.

It was ok, not the best but not the worst. My food was cold and my buddies was hot. So maybe try once more and then we will see.

If you like Cajun food, you are going to love this place. A hidden gem tucked away in Lampasas. A must try if you are in the area. The staff is very friendly. They take a moment to introduce themselves and even ask for your name. A small detail that leaves a lasting impression. The food is even better. The gumbo is outstanding and the Friday special of catfish etoufee is crazy good. Didn’t think it was too fishy like another reviewer reported. Gotta try the fog legs as an appetizer. I don’t think it was on the menu, but they have them. Very fresh, tender and tasty start to your dining experience. A must try. The owner has a thick Cajun accent and apparently brought all of his secret recipes. Wish they would open one near Fort Worth.

In all my years of eating out, this is the first place the waitress ever asked our names and then introduced herself to us. The good impressions just kept coming, but the best was the chicken & sausage gumbo. Honestly one of the BEST I have ever had! The chicken was moist and soaked up the flavor… c’était parfait!!! If nothing else… just get a cup, you owe it to yourself!

We were passing though and decided to give this restaurant a try, the parking lot looked busy, but we were able to get right in and seated fast, the service was great, the food was good and the atmosphere was great too, will defiantly go again!

We have been here several times and took friends tonight. They loved the baskets! I have loved everything except tonight. I got the Friday night special, catfish with the Etoufee. I couldn’t eat the catfish it was so fishy! I will eat anything but just couldn’t. But we will go back just not eat the Catfish.

I admit I’m not an expert on Cajun food but I love the staff, the location, the building and the Red Beans and rice are on Point! Hushpuppies always crisp.

Found this on Unilocal while passing through. It is nice and clean inside including the bathrooms! The wait staff, cook, and hostess were friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! Definitely a hidden gem in the small town of Lampasas.

The fried shrimp and fish basket was delicious! They also have seafood boudin balls that will rival any that I’ve had in Louisiana. There are also three kinds of Abita beer sure to suit your fancy. Great service and atmosphere too! Love

I really want to support local businesses but I was very disappointed. The service was friendly enough and the building is nicely decorated. But, the food was really lacking flavor. All I could taste was lemon juice. The catfish was sour and not flaky. The lemon was so overwhelming that I could not taste any creole seasoning. The cole slaw was wilted looking and the only taste I got out of it was black pepper. The food also left a musky after taste in my mouth. The place seemed busy when I was there so maybe my experience is unique. Maybe I don’t really like Cajun food like I always thought I did. Or maybe the food isn’t really spectacular but the facility has community support regardless. I don’t know but this place is not on the top of my «must try it again» list. But because it is a local business, I do recommend everyone try it at least once.

Great atmosphere! Clean and beautifully decorated. Big screen TV’s everywhere. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. We had fried shrimp and oysters(which were fresh and delicious), fried mushrooms, the Bayou burger(the bun was phenomenal), red beans and rice and crawfish perogeys(eh…). Our party of four enjoyed our meal and had a huge plate of leftovers! If we had to complain about anything, it would most definitely be the ranch dressing and tartar sauce. All good restaurants make their own and never dare serve that bland, bottled mess. Toupsie’s, you are awesome, but please make your ranch dressing and sauces! It really makes a difference! We will be back!

This is a great place to eat. Great atmosphere, great service, very clean, very very good food. I do believe that the chicken and sausage gumbo is some of the best I have ever had. My wife had shrimp it appeared to be breaded in house, and was good. Will be visiting again very soon. Definitely added to my favorite list.

My family and I dined at Toupsies this evening. We arrived about 7:30 pm. The parking lot was packed and there were very few tables available. Even so, we were seated immediately. I had the New Orleans Plate which was three chicken tenders, red beans & rice, smoked sausage, garlic bread, and a side salad for $ 9.99! My wife had a bowl of chicken sausage gumbo($ 6.99) and a side of Red Beans & Rice($ 2.99). My daughter had the Alligator PoBoy with Cajun Fries and a hush puppy($ 9.99) and my son had the Bayou Burger with Cajun Fries($ 9.99). Ice tea and fountain drinks were $ 2.50 each with free refills. The iced tea was locally sourced Moonshine Sweet Tea(non-alcoholic) from Austin, TX. The Dr. Pepper and Coke tasted like it had too much carbonated water. Maybe the dispenser needs to be recalibrated. The gumbo was too spicy for my wife’s taste so we traded meals. The gumbo was a little more spicy than I am used to, but still tasted good with generous pieces of sausage and chicken. The chicken fingers were very tasty and had a slight Cajun spice flavor in the breading. The red beans and rice, smoked sausage, and garlic bread were delicious. My son loved the Bayou Burger and my daughter enjoyed her Alligator PoBoy, but felt that the bread was too hard. Both the kids loved the Cajun Fries. Despite the restaurant being packed, our waitress Dena, was on the ball! Our drinks never ran out and she came back at least twice to ask if we needed anything, Dena was friendly and funny! Our meal came to $ 54 + tax and including an $ 11 tip, was about $ 65. I am looking forward to trying some of the other items on their menu. We will definitely be back!
