We live not far from the restaurant but had not been there for awhile. We went for the Saturday fried chicken special and the portions were much smaller than in the past. The food tasted ok but I left hungry! and disappointed. I won’t be going back.

Worst catering ever in the history of catering. My non gluten/dairy meal was a watery black bean soup. For A Meal!

Me and my husband just came in for cake, to wait on our car to get fixed across the street at Al’s. I had the hummingbird cake and he had the triple chocolate cake. His was ok. a little too rich. But I loved mine, especially the frosting. The workers are nice. Defiantly seems like the local hang out for the older ones. :) enjoyed our visit and service.

It was ok. Meatloaf was ok. Roast beef was terrible. Service was good. Overall did not enjoy the meal. Not worth the money. Would NOTGOBACKAGAIN

Excellent home cooking. It takes time to make such delicious grub. So be patient because it’s worth it. The hummingbird cake was great!

Not quite 4 stars, but that’s a Unilocal issue. Went this Saturday and had the Fried Chicken — probably too much food, but it was all pretty good. Sort of a «Down Home» place — definitely a great lake option. The desserts seem to prevail over the main dish — so we have to split one! Sides were good too — well planned and tasteful. Chicken was very good, but had a commingled fish taste — oops, a restaurant No Go, to avoid this foul taste. Good spot Unilocalers!

Found the food to be midocre. Fried chicken is good, but nothing to rave about. I am a local, and although it has never happened to me, I do know of those when asked«how is your food?» and they replied«not as good as last time» or «I’m sorry, but I’m a little disappointed» were immediately told very loudly by the female owner to leave and never come back. If you go and are disappointed, don’t say anything unless you wish to be embarrassed in front of a room of strangers.

The Best things here are homemade desserts, beards & daily specials. Good home cooking. The hamburgers are disappointing & ordinary. The BBQ items are over-smoked & the sauces are worse than ordinary. BUT if you like good pot roast, or catfish or even meatloaf, this is a great place. Just don’t order the BBQ or you’ll be disappointed. I come here often for the great specials.

This is a Great Lake eatery. Fried food, BBQ, and hush puppies! What more do you want? It’s a country place that is family owned, and has a great story behind it. Locals love it and so do I. It’s fresh food that’s homemade and it’s like how my grandma cooks. Enjoy this lake necessity!

The Fillin Station is the real deal. Today was Pot Roast Special day and it was so delicious. In fact, it was so delicious that we brought home an extra to go order along with desserts for our entire family. The real deal of their food is truly home cooking at its very best. The pot roast was melt in your mouth tender, the mashed potatoes creamy and obviously home-made as well. I had the creamed corn and it was delicious. I’d never had home-made cream corn and assumed it would be like the canned cream corn but not even close. After eating their creamed corn, no more canned stuff for me. My husband had their green beans and they were delicious too. Now comes the desserts… OHMY! I am a lover of blackberry cobbler. I have never found anything home-made until The Fillin Station. Their blackberry cobbler is as good as you’ll find and that says a lot. We also had their peach cobbler and carrot cake and both were home-made and amazing. Their portions are very generous so you won’t leave hungry and you may leave with to go boxes like we did. From the minute we walked in the door, we felt very welcome. The restaurant is clean and decorated with all sorts of old-time items including Sinclair gas station memorabilia. They have two more loyal customers in us. Wednesdays are meatloaf day and we love meatloaf. We will definitely be back!!!

Great«home cooking.» An oft-frequented local joint. The portions are good and the prices are fair. Food was hot but on the bland side. Add salt and pepper and you’re set.

Maybe I’m just city folk with expectations that are too big but when I think 4 stars I hope to be pretty impressed by the food, and I was left unsatisfied and disappointed by the food here. We got the brisket and fries and pulled pork and onion rings and I honestly thought the meat was dry and lacking flavor. But surely a BBQ place should have their own signature sauce to impress the consumer, right? Again, left disappointed and unimpressed. If they could improve I would start there.

This is the ultimate family-style country restaurant. You walk in the door and you are greeted with smiles and welcomes from staff and other patrons. Most evenings you will get an invitation from a fellow patron to sit in the empty chairs at their table. The BBQ, smoked meats, fried fish, fried meats, … well, their meat in general is to die for. I’ve had the brisket, bbq pulled pork, & fried chicken tenders, other then at home, you wont find better food. The desserts are amazing… If you want one of their evening desserts(yes, they change everyday), you have to order it almost when you get in the door! They go fast! and once they are out, they are out. Everything is made fresh that day… so its going to be good.

Tried out this place in early October of 2012 when we were staying at Caboose Junction. Terrific catfish dinner on Friday night. I couldn’t even finish the plate, and all the side items were awesome as well. Huge portions, friendly people — a great value.

Great Fried Chicken on a Saturday. Huge portions and home-style preparation makes this a country-style gem. Owners are the ones doing the cooking and their pride is evident. I will return soon because they are supposedly very handy with the KC style BBQ. Recommended, but be sure to be hungry. No one gets out with extra room to spare.
