Solid hoagie. Good bread & meats. The hours sucks & I really wish I could get a nice slice of tomato.

Where I work, we don’t have very diverse eating options nearby. For a while there it was literally all sandwich shops and a fancy-pants restaurant that overcharges for lunch(yeah, I’m looking at you, Greenfield Inn). So I wasn’t overly excited when Bruno’s first opened this location. But then I had their bread. The clouds parted, cherubs sang, and Issac’s was forever erased from my food memories. The Bruno’s manna, er, rolls are shipped fresh from Philadelphia daily and delivered to this little hole-in-the-wall shop, where all the corporate drones come to worship. There are some devout hard-roll followers, but I’m a soft roll gal myself. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either, but if you just must have a specific roll, get there around 11:30 a.m. or place a call-ahead order before the lunch crowd hits, because once the rolls are gone, they’re gone for the day. And this is a good spot, so they sell out more often than you might think. My go-to sandwich is the Bruiser — peppered turkey, sharp white American cheese, and pepper shooters for a nice kick. My backups are the Bruno(prosciutto, mozzarella, and roasted red peppers) and the turkey sub. But here’s the trick to the turkey sub: always order the peppered turkey. ALWAYS. You can thank me later. This location also has soups, a nice variety of chip options, and if you’re lucky, some amazing cupcakes. For $ 7.25 you can get half a sub(which is really more than enough on its own) and a cup of soup, easily making Bruno’s the most reasonably priced and delicious lunch stop in Greenfield.

Update, 3÷31÷16: My job has kept me in PA for much longer than anticipated, and my office is within walking distance of Bruno’s. I have frequented this establishment more than I can keep count(as you can see by my number of check-ins.) I have never been disappointed. Always clean, always quick and always what I expect. The staff has always been friendly during my visits. When my project wraps up and I leave PA, I will miss my little Bruno’s and their sandwiches. A few tips: — Bread is delivered daily from Philadelphia. — Only open during the weekday. — Closes at 2pm. — Accepts cash/credit/debit. — Call ahead for large orders. — They are very popular so don’t wait too late in the day to grab lunch because they run out of items due to high demand! — They also sell salads, chips, soup, teas, sodas and cupcakes.

Hands down the best hoagie shop in Lancaster and beyond. I use to live in Lancaster and always got their hoagies. I even had them make a catering plate of hoagies for my wedding reception and everyone loved them. If I ever visit Lancaster, I make sure to get a hoagie from them. I now live in the Kennett Square area and can’t find anything that comes close to their hoagies. Not only do they have a good product but they are very personable and have great customer service. They’ll remember your name and address you by it when you come back. It’s wild how they remembered my name after just one visit to their shop. They also ask you how your day is going and like to make friendly conversation. You can tell their happy people and it makes for a very good atmosphere. I am actually passing through Lancaster tomorrow and can’t wait to grab me a roast beef hoagie. Keep up the great work guys.

Delicious food! Our subs were ready for us before we even sat down. Couldn’t be happier with our spur of the moment decision to get lunch here!

Thank you Unilocal reviewers once again! Was in the area and didn’t know of anywhere good to get a sub but Unilocalers hooked me up! This place has some amazing subs! I can’t wait to be back in the area to get it again! Also– kudos to the staff working at the time, very friendly! — — — — — — I’ve been back at least 8 times since the first review and it has never once disappointed me! Great staff-great food-great prices!

Three stars but it’s good I’ve been here several times and would go again… I probably will go again. That said I’ve eaten some truly great sandwiches in Philly worthy of 5 stars and although these are a lot closer and maybe the best in Lancaster they have Good subs with good not great meats/cheese considering most places use really below average meats and cheese that’s saying something! Good rolls as well, my true complaint is the tomatoes they use a chopped tomato/onion mix that’s like Italian salsa, I want big juicy slices of nice tomatoes on a sub! Plus the hours are soo limited its heard to ever get there. If you can’t get to Philly check then out for sure

U can keep on looking for a better sandwich but U won’t find it in Lancaster County. The only one I have tried on numerous occasions is the Meattza Meattza, its packed to the edges with high quality meats and cheeses, I usually get it with sweet peppers and pickles. Make sure U get the hard roll. The sandwich and a bag of chips $ 10, not to hateful for something that taste great.

I would give them five stars if they offered fried long hot peppers. This is the real deal. Easily the best hoagies in Lancaster County. By the way. They’re called hoagies not subs. If you want a sub, go to Subway or your local pizza joint. The New Yorker is outstanding! The Spicy Italian is one of the best hoagies I’ve ever had.

I tried Bruno’s today with my wife. Our subs(a #1 and #13) were nothing short of spectular! The folks behind the counter were friendly and helpful. The food, including the rolls and the fine italian meats & cheeses were as good as it gets. Topped off with a deliciously flavorful pepper spread and olive oil & vinegar dressing. It was definitely worth dropping by. Too bad they are only open lunch hours, I’d drop by more often.

best italian subs in lancaster. period. had the sharp italian on hard sub roll. absolutely perfect. nice oil/vinegar spice blend, the cheese was bursting with flavor sharp, and the roll was hard on the outside, chewy on the inside. i asked for pickles and they put on a ton :) will definitely be back!

OK — Where I come from they are«heros»! It’s gotta start with the bread and it’s great! Go with the hard roll! Everything on the menu looks great. I went with the portabella mushroom hoagie. Very good. Based on the other reviews here I’m looking forward to the other hoagies. Best I’ve had since moving to the area!

I used to go to school right up the street and I would go to this place at least 2 times a week. Their bread is amazing and is shipped in fresh from Philadelphia. They use Freda meats and cheeses if I’m not mistaken, all of which are freshly sliced and delicious. I highly recommend Brunos subs and their staff is really nice. If you come frequently they will remember your name and order. This place has the best hoagies in Lancaster and definitely the best bread. I doubt you’ll find a better tasting or fresher sub in the area.

fresh. fresh. fresh. The sharp provolone, prosciutto and their oil dressing = amazing. I seriously have an addiction to Bruno’s Italians. I never, NEVER order 12 inch hoagies/subs, but here, I must, and I leave no crumb behind. You may pay a little more, but you’re getting top shelf product. This place is legit. Your taste buds will think you’re in Philly.

This is probably the most authentic Philadelphia-style hoagie I have found in Central PA. The Italians are really, really good, with the meats sliced super thin. The prosciutto on the #1 was perfect. The #3 is right out of South Philly, down to the cotechino. The rolls, specifically the seeded hard roll(from Luscia’s) are perfect. I felt the prices were fair for the quality of the sandwich. The service also was good and willing to please. The hours during the week demand you plan well, 10 – 2 most days of the week. Downside: the grilled chicken salad was not worth the money. Don’t bother with salads here, go for the hoagies.

Read lots of great reviews about Bruno’s, had to give them a try. When you walk in, it’s nothing fancy. Just a simple shop, with a simple menu. Less than 10 sandwiches to choose from, but all of them sounded great. The friendly staff was slicing fresh meats, and happy to answer our newbie questions about the rolls the sandwiches were served on. Absolutely the best cold cut Italian hoagie I ever had. Fresh meats, fresh bread, and the combination of flavor & sharp provolone cheese were outstanding. My boyfriend and I shared bites of each other’s sandwich, and we were equally impressed with both. Excellent prices, too, about $ 7 each. Can’t wait for a return visit!

Bruno’s is one of my go-to lunch spots because they are the ONLY place around with good bread. EXCELLENT bread. Bread so amazing I have dreams about it. My personal favorite sandwich is The Bruno: prosciutto, roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella. I once had one every day for a week. Sadly, I’m not kidding. Anyway, I was charged with providing lunch for a business meeting and I knew I had to introduce this group of out of towners from down south to the sandwich nirvana that is Bruno’s. I ordered several subs(turkey, ham, roast beef, The Bruno and the Portobello), chips and cupcakes for a small group. It was like a swarm, one of those cartoon clouds where you see and arm or a leg pop out, it lasted a few seconds and when I blinked everyone was gone and the trays of sandwiches were EMPTY. The sound coming from the room where the group was eating were just yummy noises and burping. There was not a crumb on the table or floor. Everyone loved it. Be aware that Bruno’s has extended hours on Fridays and that they are now serving soups! You cannot go wrong with Bruno’s.

I grew up in the Italian restaurant business and can say EMPHATICALLY this is the best Italian sub on the planet. Get #2 with oil, vinegar, lettuce, tomato and sweet peppers and call it a day. Congratulations Bruno’s, you nailed it!

Thought I would grab a quick bite near my hotel, so I scanned Unilocal as normal and this establishment had some really nice reviews. I have to say they didn’t disappoint, it was pretty darn good! Great quality, great staff, friendly and inviting for a small sub-shop.

This is tucked away in the Greenfield business park area. It’s small, clean and busy once you walk inside. We arrived around 11:40am and beat the lunch rush so we were able to grab one of the few tables inside. The customer service was excellent and the ham and turkey sub we order was super! It was large enough to share. Even with a wait this place is very worth it. If you are in a hurry you can call in your order. The other review stated something about paying a bit more, but the prices seemed fare unless you are comparing them to subway!

Some of the best subs I’ve encountered. You’re paying a bit more, but getting a much better product. Apparently their rolls are made in Philly and delivered to Bruno’s same-day, so they’re fresh. Then the ingredients themselves are top-notch. I used to work in a deli so I’ve acquired a taste for the more expensive meats and cheeses – these are pretty excellent. Especially the sharp provolone they get – even thin slices give great flavor to the whole sub. Staff is friendly and helpful.
