Half of our party was late arriving, since parking was very limited in the area, but our waiter could not have been more helpful in carefully explaining the menu for a second time. Much of the menu was unfamiliar to us, but I must say that we are new fans of the plantain plant. We had plantain fries as well as in the stir fried steak dish over rice. The spicy chocolate ice cream from Carman & David topped off the meal. Also, don’t miss the cream layer cake. Everything was delicious and the dining room is covered with art making for a wonderful atmosphere. We were not rushed and felt that the wait staff could not have been more attentive. Don’t forget to bring your own bottle of wine.

High quality experience. Very nice and knowledgeable wait staff steer you through an ever changing menu. It is heavily Puerto Rican in influence but also brings in tastes and Flavors of other Latin cultures. The Pernil is their signature. And they offer a variety of plantain preparations. The ambience is friendly too. It is byob as well — which is great as long as you are prepared. If you like an interesting meal, well made you will not be disappointed.

Having recently moved to Pa from New Jersey. We have been in search(desperately) for a place that serves Paella. We found Flora’s and we weren’t disappointed. Nice atmosphere for a cozy smaller type place. We had the King Crab Paella. Very good. A lot of personal touch went into it. Very friendly staff. The menu looks great. Met a nice couple(Lamar and Frenchy). Wonderful people. Can’t wait to return. What a nice place

Best empanadas in town. Simple and delicious Latin entrées. Terribly slow service. Best tiramisu I’ve ever had.

I Stopped in here in July of 2015. I made reservations for this place expecting a nice, trendy, authentic Latin dining experience with my girlfriend for a date night. Upon entering I waited for 5 minutes before being greeted, gave them my name and then waited another 5 minutes for them to set the table. We then sat for 20 minutes before receiving menus. we finally placed our orders… Our drinks came after 10 minutes and our food came out an additional 30 minutes after that. The food was bland, cold and both of us concluded we could’ve made better tasting Latin food ourselves. Very disappointing, we will not be returning.

I cannot find enough good words to describe our visit here. We were immediately taken by the atmosphere– upscale without being stuffy. The waiters– two young men– were attentive and polite. Flora came out and spoke with each table, which I always admire in a smaller establishment. Two things that stuck out to me– the menu was clearly explained to us. We were not familiar with many of the words or foods, and our waiter took the time to explain them all. I appreciated that. ALSO, we brought our young son with us, and he was treated extremely well. Many will see a child brought to an establishment and figure they will be rowdy. Our son was treated like any other patron, which GREATLY impresses me. Rice and beans come with every meal. The menu is different every day, so check their website. Clearly, Flora has taken much time and effort in preparing every dish, and they are fresh and delicious.

I have been to many restaurants in the 5 years I’ve lived in Lancaster, but this is my favorite one by FAR. The food quality for price is incredible. I don’t think I will ever have a better Cuban sandwich. Plus, a very nice atmosphere and great staff.

Food was very good. Great atmosphere. Just can’t justify $ 8 for dessert for a piece of cake though.

I’m new to PA and Lancaster and I’ve been craving Spanish food. Keeping in mind that I’m accustomed to NY Spanish food and my grandmas Puerto Rican food, I had low expectations. The pernil was ok. It need more flavor/spices. The black beans were the best thing of the whole meal. So good! The rice was the worst of the whole meal. Way undercooked and hard as hell. I let it swim in the bean sauce hoping it’ll soften up but nope. The fried chicken was like my grandmas but more overdone and over spiced. The place is a nice small house. Has more flies(alive and dead) then it should. It took way to long to get my and my fiancés food and there was just one more person in the place with his food already. Overall, it was ok for a last minute place when I didn’t feel like cooking. Would I go back? No. But it was a good effort for this area. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’ll continue to check out other Spanish restaurants.

There are many great restaurants in Lancaster City, however Flora’s is the best dining experience I have ever had in the city. The food was phenomenal. We went for Tapas Tuesday and ordered empanadillas(pork with rice & nutella w/peanut butter), chorizo stuffed pepper, eggplant parmesan, salmon with dijon sauce and carnitas with pumpkin, plantains and potatoes. Each bite of each dish was on point. The portions were large(for tapas) and reasonably priced. There are many reviews saying that the service is slow, but our experience was the complete opposite. Our server was Chris, and although he was fairly new to Flora’s he was attentive, fun and personable. The restaurant is small, but I love the charm. It’s well decorated and cozy. On Mondays they have all you can eat empanadas for 9.99. I can’t wait to go back for that!

Fabulous as always… But let me just add, Paella Wednesday’s and 13 dollar Thursday’s are a must!($ 13 for a beautiful and delicious app, entrée, and dessert!) Incredible. Our most recent dessert was a Nutella empanada. Enough said

Great empanadas — particularly with chicken and very good price. The tostones were also quite good — not too much salt, which I often find in restaurants trying to make Latin Caribbean food. The guacomole is the BOMB — I asked for it with everything. Main dishes(lamb/shrimp) are a little pricey but are probably good — I was on a budget during this dining experience. Definitely would recommend for lunch or a reasonable dinner date.

Both times that I’ve eaten here I walked away happy. Great, flavorful food. Nice, intimate interior good for a date or small group of friends(big groups may want to go elsewhere), and on top of that, the staff is very friendly. Combined with it being BYOB, and flora’s has quickly become one of my favorite places. I also really like that the dishes rotate so much here, there will always be something new to try.

Hands down one of the best places to eat in Lancaster. As a vegetarian I was so sure what I would walk into. Chef Flora made vegetarian empanadas on request… and they were awesome. the best I have had and the rice and beans were amazing. The wait staff was friendly informed and helpful with suggestions. And it was a spiritual experience with the décor that had a story and concern the establishment showed for the customers.

I dined here with 2 friends last weekend, and I hope we just caught them on a bad night. I love Latin American food so I had very high hopes, and was prepared for some growing pains since the restaurant is only about a month old… but all 3 of us were still very much disappointed. Positives: the décor is nice, and the food was very good. Negative: The service was very poor. The restaurant is small(only about… a dozen tables?) and it didn’t seem understaffed at all, but the overarching theme for the night was that none of the servers seemed to know what they were doing and service was extremely slow. The servers were very nice but often seemed confused… didn’t know the menu, didn’t come by to check on us, etc. Took a good 5 – 10 min after we were seated before anyone came over to offer us water & glassware(we brought wine since the restaurant is BYOB), and after that, another 15 or so min before they took our appetizer orders. Then it took about 30 – 40 min for the appetizers to come out. But here’s what really left us taken aback: while we were waiting for the apps a group of 4 people came in for their reservation. They had to stand around awkwardly for a long time before a waitress came back and informed them that other diners were taking longer than anticipated, so they would have to wait until someone else left. Then she just disappeared, and the group just kept standing around awkwardly, so we told them to put their things on our table(they had brought their own wine, too) and hang around us while they waited. We ended up sharing our apps with them too :) When they had been waiting for around 15 minutes a table opened up and a server motioned for them to come over and have a seat at the new table… …but a new group of people who had just arrived a couple minutes earlier sat down while the other group was on its way over. The people who had been waiting just kind of looked around dumbfounded and so did the server, but she let the other people stay at the table.(I don’t know if the new group had a reservation too, or if they even realized what they were doing.) The other group waited around for ANOTHER5 – 10 min but then just gave up and left. Someone from the kitchen(the owner I think?) went out after them, to her credit, but they didn’t come back in. Another thing to note is that you pay via an iPhone with a swipey thing attached to it, but I don’t think I server quite knew how to use it yet which resulted in some difficulty paying. For example, she didn’t show my friend how to leave a tip(but luckily I had yet to pay so I just doubled my tip for her). I debated leaving a review with negative comments for such a new restaurant, but there is no website for the business and therefore no email address to reach the owners through. I do plan to go back with my boyfriend, and plan to follow up here after that — hopefully will have a better experience to report.

I wish I lived in Lancaster. This new place is excellent, and I plan to visit again when I’m back in town. The décor is quite charming with some local photography and beautiful artwork by the owner’s husband. The owner is very engaging and helpful describing the dishes on the menu and the influences. From the mango juice to the dessert, everything was scrumptious and cooked to perfection. We had empanadillas, tostones with homemade guacamole, plato typico y sencillo, and bread pudding. I look forward to trying everything on the lunch menu and the seafood dishes for the dinner hours. Be sure to give this restaurant a try.

Absolutely loved the décor. Flora and Abner have a magic touch with décor but furthermore, the food was delicious. The mango chicken was cooked to perfection and the mango went well with the spice on the chicken. Tostones were a great appetizer with a trio of sauces. Support this new restaurant. It’ll be worth it!
