Well… Our group walked in to check the place out and had to leave pretty fast. We waited at the counter with two workers walking around, but nobody ever said anything to us. They were both very young workers and didn’t look like they cared to be there. We always try to support small local businesses wherever we go, but I don’t know how anyone could eat with the smell that was lingering in the air… A friend in my group described the odor as ‘freshly barfed mushrooms.’ Which was pretty accurate. The prices did seem fair and the atmosphere in the place wasn’t altogether unpleasant, but we didn’t stay to eat because of the experience we had walking in.

Lackluster food no variety compared to other local sub and deli places. Also for the price the portions are quite small. I have tried them 3 – 4 times and will not be going back. Also there brand of potato chips to me anyway are terrible.

Great little deli restaurant. Service is fantastic and the sandwiches are delicious. You get a lot for your money and the only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because I been to deli’s where the sandwiches are a bit more creative. Nevertheless, I would recommend Groucho’s to anyone who is in the Lancaster, SC area.

Taking into consideration where it is, it was still quite abysmal. The bread was stale, the lettuce limp, the tomato watery and tasteless, and except for the service which was great, we won’t darken their door again. Certainly, I cannot understand 5 stars from anyone unless they’ve been marooned on a raft. Lancaster, SC isn’t a food destination, but Groucho’s is a pass-em-by no matter how hungry you are.

Good food and cute waitresses. If you’re tired of all of the other sandwich shops then give this one a try.

Very good service. Quick & very pleasant. There is take-out, call in orders, drive thru service as well as someone who I think is serving tables inside. I went in and reviewed the large menu. I ordered the big dipper with provolone to go. Once home my sandwich was nicely stuffed but it is the size of a 6″ sub roll. The cheese had been melted nicely but obviously was only 1 small slice of cheese. The meats were very tasty. I opted for the formula 45 dip, which is a thin vinegar version of thousand island(menu says a mix of Russian & thousand island) so if you don’t like thousand island don’t get it! Each sandwich specialty comes with chips(plain) & pickle wedge. I think the prices are a bit high for the area– especially since it is next door to a subway where you can get twice as much sub for $ 5 most of the time. It’s a good sub but I can’t afford those prices regularly. update Nov 2012: WHAT happened to the food? I have no idea but down hill we ended up. I again ordered the big dipper and THIS time was served to me on a sesame hamburger bun! BLAH less meat too. If i wanted a hot ham sandwich on a sesame bun I would’ve went to HARDEES for which I have coupons to get the thing for less than $ 3! I have reduced my previous 4 STARs to 2– and that is for the SERVICE only!
