It us like stepping back in history. The atmosphere is almost as good as the food. Excellent service as well.

Great brunch on the weekends and dinner. A great place to bring visitors from out of town. They have a very cute historical B&B attached.

We visited a number of the restaurants in the area on the holiday weekend and this was our favorite. The food, the atmosphere and the wait staff were all delightful. My husband had soft shell crabs three nights in a row in the area and this was hands down best.

Fantastic atmosphere with great food. Got a table right by the wood fire, tried the Chesapeake Pale Ale, and relaxed. Staff offered to show us the tour of the house and some original features from when it was built in the 1700’s. Ordered lobster bisque and sweet Virginia salad with grilled chicken. Both were tasty.

This is as good as it gets for us! The food is incredible. Service is right on and the atmosphere wraps it all up perfectly! We eat here a few times a year and every time we visit we are very pleased with our meal and service!

My boyfriend and I went to the Lancaster Tavern for two nights after we bought a LivingSocial coupon. We loved it! We ate dinner there on our first night, and the food was absolutely amazing. Breakfast was included in our stay and that was delicious as well. As an added bonus, we had a great time hanging out with the chef, Keon. If you like to get your drink on, the B&B is located near a ton of vineyards. Definitely recommend!

We stayed here for two nights to get away. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. We made dinner reservations for Friday and thought we would be there by 8. When we realized it wouldn’t be until later and the kitchen closed at 9, we placed an order over the phone and the staff had no issues bringing it up to the room when we got there. Check in is a breeze and this is a no-frills kind of place — they make you feel welcome like part of the family. The food is delicious and plentiful. We had the little neck clams as an appetizer(delicious!), the crab cake sandwich served with tartar sauce, lemon, and cocktail sauce, and the seafood platter with fried oysters, scallops and crab cakes(seafood platter recommended). Their breakfasts(included as guests) are impressive as well — you won’t be eating lunch! Delicious eggs, biscuits, omelets, etc. The owner served us breakfast, which I thought was a nice touch, and had a nice conversation. The chef made sure that our meals were taken care of. The rooms were perfect — large with a separate bathroom with a jacuzzi tub/shower. We had a delicious bottle of wine included with our stay. Room rates are $ 150/night and only two rooms are available. Call ahead to book because they seem to have guests constantly passing though.

Quite a nice little bump in the road in the Northern Neck.
