Another reasonable facsimile of a British pub, right down to the prices being listed in pounds sterling(No, you don’t have to figure out the exchange rate). Went on a Saturday around 6 pm. Moderate crowd. Service took a little while. I only had one whisky. I tried the French Onion soup everyone seems keep reviewing on here. For me it was a decent attempt. Same goes for the cottage pie I had. It was cool, but it’s still not a real pub. Guess I’ll have to spend a few grand and travel overseas for the real deal.

So… The kitchen closes in 4 minutes isn’t the greatest greetings I’ve ever received at a restaurant. That was at 9:35 I asked when the kitchen closed? Was told it was 9:45 there website says 10. When I mentioned this she told me the kitchen closes at 10 but they go by. The restaurant clock and its 15mins fast? At this point we were seated and I informed her we didn’t want to be a burden and we’d go elsewhere. She said it was ok but at that point I knew it wasn’t going to be a good experience. So we left. This wasn’t our first time here we’ve been 6 – 7 times over the last few years and its gotten worst each time. Won’t be back.

Visiting here was nice. The atmosphere was that of what you would expect of an actual English pub. Very rustic main bar in the center with a bunch of smaller tables orbiting around it. Food was great. Cottage pie, buffalo wings, garlic parmesan wings, and the fish and chips. All were great. Wings were tasty and the twist with the garlic parmesan was different. Mondays are wing night with 3.25 for a half dozen and 6.00 for a full dozen. Cottage pie was good with a nice tomato base. The star of this meal however was the fish and chips. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was awesome. It was crunchy and flavorful without being too greasy or heavy. Definitely recommend this place even with kids. Wait staff was polite and the place has high chair for the little ones. The flight of bourbon was also nice. Definitely a good place and will visit again.

I do love this place and its great food. Being English this takes me right back to the food I was raised on. On the slow empty days this is a great place to hang out. Sadly when it’s busy everything suffers we came here for my birthday and reserved a table prior which was fine but when the people started piling in we had to leave they were pushing and yelling inches away from the table and it was an awful was to spend a birthday. The staff is great when it’s slow and non existence when they are packed.

The food here is fantastic! Wings are amazing and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert is delicious. Nice selection of beers on tap and bottle. Consistently good over a long period of time. The servers and bartenders are helpful and friendly. Quips will always be a favorite!

Delicious. Came at 7pm on a Friday night with some guests from out of town. Waited 30 minutes for a table but was able to get seats at the bar and order an appetizer while we waited. I had the chaser salad with steak, medium rare. My steak was cooked perfectly. The salad was a little light on dressing but still very good. I didn’t bother to ask for extra on the side as they were busy and the waitress was a little spread thin as it was. She was very nice regardless. My friends got the faggots and the chicken with Brie and ham. They both finished their plates and said they’d made great choices. Would have liked to try a desert but between the food and appetizer, we had no more room. Will definitely return again. Nice atmosphere and good crowd. The only thing is with the large area they have cut out for darts, it gets a bit crowded by the door and a section of the bar. This may not be a problem during the week if it’s slower then but on Friday and Saturday night it can be a bit crowded.

This is one of my favorite pubs. They have a great atmosphere, with a British Pub feel, and the beer selection is great, and the food is excellent. Whether you want sandwiches, salads, traditional British pub food, or a dinner, you can’t go wrong. The chef is always trying new things, and the specials are always good.

This is my favorite pub to go for wings on Monday. They a good special, wings are pretty big but really crispy. Make sure you make a reservation if you don’t plan on sitting at the bar!

I love Quips! Good beer selection, food that reflects some of my favorite British dishes. Scotch eggs are yummy. The atmosphere is cool– love the bar. Bangers and Mash are spot on as well as Bubble and Squeak. Love having a little reminder of London here in Lancaster!

Very nice atmosphere. Very English/Scottish type pub. Good food. Good patrons. It’s like a mini escape from the U.S. However the staff lacks friendliness. We walked in and the sign said«wait to be seated», the bartender on duty looked at us 3 times until we asked her if we could just go sit where we wanted. Her and the rest would only talk with the ones they knew. not asking for a full fledge convo but courtesy would be nice.

I loved loved the fish n chips, the newspaper wrapping was awesome, I lived in England for 5 years, and brought back such great memories, the fish batter itself had a great flavor as well… Very cozy inside, I was impressed and I am an extremely picky eater, 2 thumbs up

Pub(noun) — derived from the term«public house» i.e. an establishment open to the public… with the genesis of the word hailing from either British/Irish/New Zealandic/Aussie/Canadian/Danish standards… or perhaps a combination of the seven. I’ve been to many variations/interpretations of the standard British/Irish/etc pub throughout my career, some on American shores and some in the far East(Asia); some have been humble establishments, having but a limited number of beers on tap, with even less available food options(peanuts), and some rickety seating furniture; and some have been pompous places, with a glut of alcoholic beverages… from the most obscure of micro-brews to the most well-known name brand… with some high-class«pub fair»(think brisket burgers…), all served in frilly accommodations and with the most comfortable of seating options. For truth, I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Quips. I had heard quite a bit about it for the longest time throughout my days as a resident of the state of Pennsylvania, but I never paid a visit to the joint until just recently. I could view the absence of this joint in my life(up to this point) in the negative… however, I’ll choose to go the positive route, knowing that this place is now on my list of one of the area’s finest establishments going forward. Why so good? Well, if you look to paragraph two, I’ve described the kinds«public houses» I’ve visited in the past. Both fine interpretations… but I’m pleased with the way Quips presents itself. This joint pretty much strikes an almost perfect balance between a more modest establishment and one that is overly grand. Just enough beers on tap; not too many to make your brain hurt(though if you drink too many, your brain may hurt… science fact), but enough to give you a healthy dose of variety. And true to form, they have a lovely list of whiskey to pair with your beer(drink responsibly). The whole vibe/ambiance/environment is nothing short of stellar. I’ve never been to Britain, let alone Europe(or Aussieland and New Zealand for that matter)… so I hope my impression and idea of «public house» interior decorating sensibilities isn’t completely butchered and mis-shaped to an offensive caricature. That being said, the visuals and tangibles of this place strike me as legitimate and genuine. Worn burgundy hues on the wood furniture(tables, chairs, bar counter…), exposed wooden pillars, and some old school tunes(I love me some top 40s, EDM, and K-pop, but some Beatles and Queen… massive daps) just add an air of legitimacy to the whole operation. The place is adorned with fútbol memorabilia, but not to the point of being obnoxious; and there are a few television sets(to watch said fútbol, at least when I was there), but they are monstrous LED screens spanning multiple feet; rather, they are quite tiny… you’ll have to look for them. Lastly, this place is known for their food. They don’t serve all that frou-frou hanky panky(i.e. overly ornamental and unnecessarily fancy and out-of-place cuisine). This place is a pub, and they know it. Sarnies, fish and chips, scotch eggs… those are the standards(and add some chicken wings in there for that American flair). After having a bite of the fish and chips, I can see that it is no hyperbole when people say that it’s the best in the area. A huge filet of deep fried fishy over a bed of hand cut chips/fries… quite the bite, and well worth your money. Lancaster County continues to surprise me with gems like this. I may not have known you for the first 27… but henceforth, I expect to be making that up 27 times over.

Quips has been our hands down favorite pub for years. Great beers and Magner’s Hard Cider on tap as well as an awesome pub atmosphere draw us back time after time. The wings are great, and you should really try an appetizer called The Dipper: french bread with olive tapenade, roasted garlic, and pesto along with a cheese dip. This is the perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends. It’s a local gem!

Each and every time I come here My tastebuds are euphoric! From the great local and other beer menu to the whiskey-butter fries, yes you read that right, the food is probably the best pub you will find in the known universe. Rumor has it the Green Goddess herself makes the dressing. Eat here now! You won’t be disappointed and if you are a trip to the mayo clinic might be in order to check your head and tastebuds!

I have been to quips many times. Every time I get the fish and chips they are awesome! Tuesday night they are only ten bucks. The fried cod is definitely the best! Light breading and fresh oil goes a long way. The bartender is super nice. He doesn’t know us but treats us like regulars.
