I stopped in the Lancaster store at 5:51 p.m. on Saturday February 27th and was confronted by one of the rudest«gentlemen» ever to work in a retail establishment. I called ahead and asked what time they closed and was told by a female employee 6 o’clock, so I decided just to take a quick peek around and see if it was worth coming back there another day since it’s about 35 miles from my home. As I entered, a middle aged male employee(Caucasian, moustache, glasses) said, «we are closing soon.» I said, «that’s okay I just want to take a quick look around I’ll be two seconds.» All I wanted was a long sleeve black shirt, which we’re located right at the front of the store. I am a very fast shopper. I would have been in and out within five minutes! There were still people being waited on at the cashier stand and there were at least two additional people in the store, so it’s not like I was the last one there! Most of the lights had already been turned out and it was dark on the sales floor. The male employee came into to the sales area and yelled: «The store is now closed! You won’t be able to check out because the registers are closing now!» So I left after saying sarcastically: «So, for future reference the store closes at 5:52 on Saturday then? Not 6 o’clock as I was told on the phone?» There was no apology no «have a nice day», no nothing! I will never shop there again and I am making a formal complaint to their corporate offices. I’m sure they had had a long day and were anxious to go home, but that is no way to behave when you work in a service industry. I waited tables for over 10 years and even if we were closing at 10, if a customer walked in at 9:55 we had to wait on them. Having worked in that type of business before, I would not have wanted to hold them up past closing time and I had no intention of doing so. If he hates people so much he needs to get a different job!
