went to pick up donuts for my Grandmas church group, the lady in there was so rude and looked so angry it made the whole buying donuts situation stressful for me !! The donuts left an after taste too, I’ll try again and see, if maybe it was just an off day.

I stopped here to pick up a dozen donuts for my crew at work. The place was fine, a little old looking, but clean enough. Also, the woman behind the counter was very polite and pleasant. My major issue is that these guys charge $ 1.00 to use your card. Way over the top. The donuts were overpriced to begin with. I will not return.

SPUDNUTSFTW! I’d always wanted to try Spudnuts after seeing them on TV, thinking it was totally cool to use potato flour when making fat pills(our nickname for donuts). It was a great surprise to find out that the AV was home to at least three Spudnut locations! This one is my favorite, and I’ll tell you why. A) Location. Yes it is giant block away from the Ave K &20th one, but I find the parking situation here to be easier and less stressful. Also, it is much less(not gonna sugar coat this one) ghetto neighborhood than the eastside location. B) The workers. I like the staff at this one because even though the conversations with the donut slinging lady behind the counter are always short, you don’t feel brushed off. We’ve even had a couple short conversations due to my CSULB alumni t-shirt I’ve worn to the shop. C) The product. The ones here taste best. The big maple and chocolate chip rectangle thing is my absolute favorite. The reason this location is getting 4 stars and not 5 is the fact that it is hard to get the items you want if you’re not there at the buttcrack of dawn, especially on weekends. The early morning folk wipe out the selection(I’m going to assume a lot of them go to the halls and rectories of churches for sale after mass/service), which can be discouraging and disappointing when all you really want after a night of drinking is sugary, spongey, Spudnutey goodness. Sure, I can take responsibility for this one and wake up earlier, but I’d rather they just make more donuts. ;) Now, go get your Spudnot on! But leave a big maple/chocolate chip thing for me.

My cubicle neighbor had to ask where did I get these doughnuts because they were so good, & surprisingly he’s the local — not me! The cruller I had was light as air and flavorfully melted away. The coffee beats our typical office brew, service was kind + quick. Certainly today’s box of doughnuts warrants a return trip. :-)

This place is were we like to get our donuts. They always taste fresh and the young girl that works there is very friendly. She always has a smile every time we walk in. Last time we were there I asked her when they will be selling their boba drinks again. There is another Spudnut Donuts walking distance form our home but I rather drive to this one. Very satisfied customer :)

Closed at 3:30PM yet the sign says open until 6:00PM on the door. Luckily there is another donut shop on 30th and L next to stater brothers. I’ll go there from now on :)

What was the first Nationwide Donut chain to reach Los Angeles? Brothers Al and Bob Pelton were working as an appliance salesman and drug store clerk, respectively, when they were inspired to create a new kind of donut. Trial and error led them to developing a dry Potato mix and the spudnut was born in 1940, they then began franchising the operation. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Spudnuts quickly spread across the country. By the early 1950s, the chain had over 350 stores with the slogan of «Coast to Coast, from Alaska to Mexico. In 1964, Spudnuts was selling an estimated 400,000 donuts daily, when the company came up with a process to flash-freeze their dough. The future looked bright. In late 1968, a Canadian company bought Spudnuts from the Pelton brothers. At the time, there were 315 Spudnut franchise-holders including a recent expansion to Japan. Three years later, Dakota Bake N Serve Inc. bought Spudnuts. This is where the cruller crumbled. The owner of Dakota Bake N Serve got caught up in a huge, proposed marina development in the Sacramento River Delta, selling all of his stock to a promoter in exchange for tax-free bond notes that proved worthless. When the promoter was convicted on several charges of fraud and conspiracy in 1979, it was the end of Spudnuts as a chain. Existing stores were left to fend for themselves. Numbers vary, but it’s believed roughly three dozen Spudnuts locations survive, scattered across the United States. Remarkably, 10 of those are in Los Angeles County. The answer: Spudnuts. I’m a fan of the Spudnut because it’s not only good but different, I only gave this location 4-Stars for the lack of variety/selection.

I ordered half a dozen donuts and they were crammed into a small paper bag. When I got home and opened the bag they were all smashed together and not very appealing looking at all. The different flavor donuts were basically melted to each other. These donuts could have been potentially great tasting but eating a smashed up donut with another donuts flavor on it just wasn’t the experience I was looking for. I’ll stick to Sweetie Pie’s next time.

Friendly service, clean area, and reasonable prices. $ 0.75 for regular donuts, $ 7.50 for a dozen regular donuts, or $ 1.50 for a dozen donut holes.

Simply the best donuts in the AV — the owner is extremely nice and works to provide the best possible service. Like all«Spudnut» franchises, they use potato flour in their donuts, which keeps the donut from getting to heavy. I drive here from West Palmdale because they’re the best place on the west side for sure, and arguably anywhere in the AV.
