Stauffers of Kissel Hill

So much more relaxing in here than Costco. Love the ambiance and shopping local. I would rather pay more to come here. #shoplocal
Sometimes the produce is not up to par, but in general everything in this store is well presented and fresh. The staff is friendly, and the store layout makes everything easy to find. The free coffee at the back is an extra bonus.

So Stauffers is an interesting Lanco tradition. There’s little doubt they are one of the finest grocers in the county. Their stores have a good selection. Are typically pleasant to shop and Stauffers works hard to diversify the experience with things like regular tent cookouts. Yesterday, for instance, was grilled delmonico steak sandwiches.
All this comes with a price, it’s pricey. You pay for the ambience. You pay for the selection. It simply costs more to buy your groceries at Stauffers. This doesn’t invalidate their business model. They are good retailer (with one exception coming up). I usually enjoy browsing there.
So, the exception, it’s slow. I mean, you don’t run into Stauffers to grab something and go. It’s slow. This one, and most of the others I’ve been in, are choked with retirement home folks shopping at their pace. Nothing wrong with that as long as it matches your pace. Checking out can also be an investment in the future as, seemingly, no check out is simple and quick. All involve long conversations, multiple transactions, lots of hand written checks and what not.
All in all, that a pretty trivial criticism but, I think it’s important to note.
I gave Stauffers three stars because, well, they’re pricey and it can tedious as all get out to shop there. But, they are, overall, good retailers and, assuming you know the hurdles, it’s not a bad place to shop.

Okay, I just had to do an update on this store, the international area is awesome. I have been watching reviews on snacks from all over the world and have been quite curious about all the yummy snacks, who knew Stauffer’s would have a small but great selection of candies. We don’t have a World Market/​Cost Plus in the area, so I am super happy Stauffer’s has a little area for such goodies.
And of course, I grabbed some fried chicken :)…

Best supermarket ever!!! So much variety. Lots of unique food items. Great homemade dinner items. Deli is wonderful. The store is super clean and the employees are very friendly. I wish we had one in Harrisburg. We make special trips to Lancaster just to shop here sometimes. I love Stauffers!

I used to be blessed with a whole foods where I used to live in Michigan. Unfortunately, there is not one in the Lancaster area. This is the closest that I have found to whole foods (however, far from) in Lancaster out of the grocery stores. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian foods & organic fruit & veg. I also love how they have an aisle dedicated to environmentally friendly products (shampoo, soap, cleaning supplies, etc.).
I do not shop anywhere else in Lancaster for my food except central market (where I usually get fruit & veg). I wish they had more vegan options, but I know thy is a lot to ask for a place that is not in the «whole foods/​trader joes» category. Overall, this place is great! :)

This is definitely the largest SKH I have been to.
Let’s start with what I like … SUSHI !! yeah go SKH. I really enjoy the sushi that they offer… $ 5 12pack avocado roll … pretty good. Justine’s brand vegan dark chocolate covered peanut butter cups … WOW. Check out lines … are easy breezy. They are super stocked on stuff … I don’t think you would ever have to worry about out of stock items. Super friendly staff … there is always someone within 10 feet if you need help with something. This place has got the works … full salad bar, hot bar, bakery, sushi, pre-​made sandwiches and heat up lunches. .
Some things that I have noticed at this SKH and others that I would like to see improved … the availability of «organic» fruits and veggetables. They have only a handful of organic choices that are hard to find as they are scattered with the rest of the produce … and completely surrounded by «seedless» this or that … I am not interested in your GMO fruit ! This place is FREEZING !! Bring your winter parka b/​c the AC is cranked up so high, even the jalapenos are forming icicles …
