I was in town as for a wedding and stopped in to get my hair done with another girlfriend of a groomsman. I was elated that they had available appointments with only an hour notice, we were taken promptly, and the stylists were very friendly. I explained I wanted a wash, a blowout with volumizer, and style — some long, loose curls. The blowout resulted in a completely smooth, sleek, no-volume straight-do — which he finished off with a straightener further reducing any volume. He used the straightener to add in a few whispy curls. I asked for a few more to add that volume we spoke of — he did as asked, and it was flat, but passable. There wasn’t much product or hairspray used, and my curls which usually hold pretty well, fell flat before we reached the hotel room 10 minutes later. In what should have saved us 2 hrs before the wedding resulted in an hour session & an hour in a hotel room trying to fix. My friend had a similar issue, but was a little more visually(and loudly) frustrated. For people & service, I would give them a 4, but my end-result of having to redo my hair(without the time to start from scratch) warrants the 2-star. I hope this was a one-off instance and you have better luck.

**Date of Service 02/26/2015** I moved to Lancaster in August of last year(2014) and had yet to find a place I felt TRULY comfortable with… Since most places outside the city think Barbershops are for«boys only» (side note, get with it people it’s 2015!) Back to Tangles! Ok, my girlfriend(yes, girlfriend/significant other) went in to get her hair cut, colored and styled(by Eric.) I tagged along just to watch^^ lol. Ended up getting my hair cut by Robert. He was fantastic! He gave me the EXACT cut I wanted(gentlemen’s haircut, tapered longer top, basically) and he did so by scissor & comb, NOT with clippers… Bada$$, right?! Yes, very … VERY bada$$. Soooo, Don’t listen to any negative nellies and just try them out. You will not be disappointed. Just tell the receptionist what type of style, cut, color … Etc and they will pair you with the RIGHT stylist for what you need.

Tangles is fantastic! I was new to town, didn’t have a hair stylist, and was in desperate need of bang trim. Tangles worked me in the next day and trimmed my bangs for free! Since then, I’ve been back 3 or 4 times for hair cuts and colors and have always been completely satisfied. They may not be the cheapest place in town, but you get what you pay for! The customer service is great, the facility is clean and well-maintained, and my hair always looks awesome.

Had my first visit to this salon last Saturday. I hadn’t bothered to check the Unilocal reviews until I was on my way there, so I was a little nervous when I got there after having read the negative reviews. The set up is a bit strange, parking lot in the back of the house but then you have to walk all the way around to the front entrance. No big deal. When I entered, the friendly receptionist greeted me immediately, took my coat and offered me a drink. The salon is beautiful and comfortable inside. Erik, my stylist, came down to get me right on time and was awesome from the beginning to the end. I showed him a picture of the color and cut I wanted and he did exactly what I asked. He took his time and also took the time to explain things to me. At one point he brought the owner up to help with the color consultation, and she could not have been any nicer or more helpful. After many months of searching for a new salon, I have found it and I couldn’t be happier.

Having just moved to the Lancaster area, I relied on a recommendation of someone else-who swore by this place-& the gentleman colorist. The salon itself is in impressive. Nothing in the salon screams the Hollywood glam that they seem to think that they have. Initially, I felt like the colorist & I connected on what I was looking for. I’m generally not a difficult client, however, was HORRIFIED by what my hair looked like when it was all said & done 3.5 hours later. I wanted some really dark low lights, with some really light highlights. I left with black hair, & about 6 chunky orange leopard looking«highlights». The colorist was leaving for vk the next day, & wanted to leave as soon as he had finished. There was also some uncomfortable interaction with he & a female employee behind me. The front desk person-again-unimpressive-again-not sure where this«make you feel like a star-type treatment» is. Ironically, the person who referred me had her color done about 2 weeks later. She is pretty conservative-& went home with kool-aid red curls. Needless to say-I don’t see a return trip in either of our futures.

i’ve been there a couple times, always do a good job and relatively well priced for a high end salon. i forget who i use but she is very good, not very talkative tho. the shampoo guy does a great job as well with a head massage. they usually have special deals as well.

First off, the location of this place is just beautiful. I loved the old house it was in and the décor is pretty girly, but fun and enjoyable. My stylist was quite behind, and I arrived early, and sat in the lobby watching Cupcake Wars while I waited. It’s a lot of animal prints and vibrant colors in this older home that has been transformed. The stylists all seemed nice, but I felt a bit out of place. This was the first place I came for a haircut in the Central PA area. I ended up leaving there quite late(past 9:30pm) to drive back to Harrisburg which was kind of a bummer. I brought in a picture of a fairly short bob with really blunt cut bangs — and I left with my hair a little longer than chin length and my bangs still long and swept to the side. Overall, I just left with an ‘okay’ hair cut that I was unimpressed with. I ended up going home and trimming up the front(it was left too long) and making the bangs more blunt cut since the stylist seemed weary to cut my bangs. Anyhow, I wouldn’t not recommend this place, but I also didn’t keep continuing to go here since it’s a drive from my house and having to wait so long and getting home past 10pm just wasn’t fun.

This is the third salon that my family and I have followed the owner, Kristin, to, purely because we love how she does her job. This particular salon is the second that she has owned while I’ve known her, and this one she decorated herself. The décor isn’t quite to my taste, but then again I’m male so decorating will never be my forte… The joys of this salon and the people working there are too numerous to mention all of them so the following is just a few of the many positives it has to offer: 1)Every time I come in for an appointment I’m always asked if I would like a cup of coffee or something to drink. 2)I’ve rarely been kept waiting for longer than 10 minutes. 3)I’ve never been disappointed with the cut I received, no matter who cuts it. Normally I have Kristin as my stylist, but I’ve also had Kirsty and a few others cut my hair when Kristin was extraordinarily busy. No place is perfect, however, but the few negatives that come to mind are: 1) it is a tad pricey and 2) the parking lot is set up oddly, forcing you to exit by a little side street and depend on the generosity of someone letting you out into the traffic flow which can be a few minutes on some occasions. All that being said, I don’t believe Kristin has any plans to move again in the near future, but based upon the excellence she has given, I know I will be using her services for as long as possible.
