Great taproom in the heart of Lancaster. The beers are phenomenal. Range from Hoppy Pale Ales and very many dark Stouts. Very flavourful too I must add while not being too heavy. Also very reasonably priced. The staff is very nice and helpful. There are 3 TVs in the taproom so its a good place to go even on game night. They have bar fare available as well and many weekly specials. Wish there was a place like this closer to home. Will continue to visit when I’m in the area as the beers have mostly changed every time I’ve visited. They do keep their popular beers such as the Pale Ale and Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout.

The Taproom is my go-to spot in Lancaster city to enjoy good beer in a cool atmosphere. I don’t know how they do it, but every time I visit this spot it seems that they have come out with 10 new beers. And every beer is good. And cheap. Seriously, where do they come up with these names and flavors?! Some of my favorites are the chocolate peanut butter porter, the holiday ale, and all of the IPAS. I recommend getting the flight so that you can try all off them and not miss out. The service is consistently fast and friendly, however it can be hard to get the bartender’s attention when it is very busy. I cannot comment on the food– except for the French fries. And they do not disappoint. The taproom is decorated pretty eclectically which I appreciate. It has a sort of Halloween vibe.

A brew house that knows it’s a brew house and not a trendy restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good. It just wasn’t gourmet fancy schmancy stuff to camouflage mediocre beer. The beer is great. Hubby and I shared a beer flight. There wasn’t a single undrinkable in the lot. Chocolate peanut butter stout. orgasmic. 2 Front Teeth Belgian Holiday Ale… best holiday beer yet. My only ctiticism is that there isn’t free parking close. … But that isn’t enough to take away a star.

First time here surprisingly. By far my favorite beer, not only in lancaster but anywhere. We have been to the brewery on hazel st. Which has a much better atmosphere we just like the menu options here better. We had the pizza which was really good and the wings were amazing and only $.50 on Wednesday. Bartenders were very tentative and knowledgable of the beers on tap. We will definitely be back real soon. Great spot

Likes — — In house brewed beers, seasonal selections available. — I’m usually anti-beer, but I really enjoyed the pale ale selection, especially seven gate pale, pumpkin ale and grapefruit ale. — Beer flight sample($ 14) is a good way to try everything. — Would definitely come here again for Sunday football, happy hour or a drink with friends — Clean bathroom — Free wifi yah! — Reasonably price food, nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible either. The menu has mac & cheese with chocolate shavings! Cool uh?! — Conveniently located in downtown Lancaster, next to the Central Market — HUGE shuffle board! Dislikes — Not exactly a place for dinner, because they serve mostly bar food.

OK, maybe I was a little too harsh on this place. The beer is actually pretty good and its priced well too. Since my last review, they have moved to a newer larger location. The place itself is really nice and has that new brewery smell. The original tap room is still open on King and for all intents and purposes anything I refer to in this review is regarding the King St location. I see a lot of people going crazy over their beer giving it 4 – 5 stars. Again I say, its good, not great. The beer alone is a solid 3 stars. They have interesting varieties and are not afraid of shaking things up. I respect that, however sometimes its just a miss. I have yet to drink a beer here that just blows me away. As for the food… NOPE… still wont eat here. Next subject. The staff is hit or miss, sometimes you get a really good bartender that is friendly and seems to enjoy what they are doing, other times you get a drone pulling tap handles. Overall, the beer elevated my score to 3 stars, but with so many other better places in Lancaster to get a beer, why go here?

Stopped by here after a brief bite. I had a sampler with a bunch of different kinds of beer. My favorite was the pumpkin stout. It was just the perfect mix of roasted sweet spice. The saison with lavender also had some good flavor. The bartenders were super attentive and seemed to know a lot about their beer. I really liked their branding and fun décor. I even bought a coaster to take home.

Really enjoyed this place. The beer was good, the crowd was a great mix of people and the staff interesting. I would rate this among one of my favorites and unexpectedly so. Did not try the food.

Unfortunately, the bartenders here are among either the dumbest or the rudest people on earth. We came here, with our dog, to sit outside. The bartender told us we could sit either right out front or in front of the cigar bar next door. They said both places are the same owners. DONOT listen to the bartenders. They are lying. The cigar bar is a separate location with a separate kitchen and bar. Go to the cigar bar if you want to sit outside and The Taproom is full. Meanwhile the cigar bar is wonderful. Nice(UNDERSTANDING) servers, good food(better than the food from the Taproom’s which they allowed us to eat before ordering some ceviche from them), and cigars! The Taproom are rude, selfish, and liars. Do not go there. Go to the Cigar Bar next door. It is lovely with lovely people working there. You’ll just embarrass yourself if you go to the Taproom, like I did.

Loved it. My wife and I are in from out of town and our friends brought us. I got the classic grilled cheese, and while it’s hard to screw up a grilled cheese, it was excellent. The fries were great too. I also tried the Old Bay buffalo wings and they were good. The beer selection was great. We got a sampler of all ten of the beers they had on tap. Everything was great(no joke). My personal favorite is a toss up between the Devils Bake Sale chocolate mint stout, or the Raspberry wheat. They fill growlers there. I almost bought one of their gorgeous metal handled growlers but I certainly will next time I’m in town.

What a fun little place! I had the Astounding She-Monster Mango IPA — basically I ordered that because of the awesome name. Most of them have sweet, clever names. It’s ABV7.7%, and I really liked it. Danger zone. My friend got the Lexicon Devil, the grapefruit pale ale — ABV6%. Some of these beers go up to 11.4%, choose wisely. This has a cool atmosphere, friendly bar tender, and Zoltar! I didn’t have any food, but we sat at the window bar and people watched. I would totally come back here just for a drink or two — more than that and I’ll be taking a cab home.

Traveled from Philly with this place as one of the main attractions, and it lived up the the hype. Having gone to college in Lancaster at F&M, it made me wistful that such a tremendous spot was NOT around when I was living there. The beers are stupendous — quality, original, great prices. The brewery exclusives were stupendous and a great compliment to the standard ones we came in expecting. Service was great — bartenders were quick and attentive, servers friendly and on point. It was crowded but not overwhelming, our party of three plus a toddler had zero complaints. We ordered the truffle mac & cheese appetizer, as our baby was getting peckish, and it was extravagant. Creamy, delicious, nice sized serving. Beers were great, prices fine, cool locale, menu looked great, excited to return. Springhouse rocks.

I love Spring House beers, so it was natural to come here when taking a trip to Lancaster. The selection of beers were great, and I love the quirky stuff they offer. The bartenders were cool, and would offer samples if need be, so that helps if you’re not sure what to get. The food was decent here; I got the steak tacos and they hit the spot. If you’re in the Lancaster area then come here for some good beer and food!

Spontaneous day trip to Lancaster County! Our first stop of the day was the Taproom! My fiancé and I have always enjoyed Spring House beers and we’ve always wanted to stop by the Taproom. Finally got the opportunity too and it was well worth it! In the heart of downtown Lancaster, this place is tucked in between a parking lot and alley. We each got a flight, which were served on vintage tin plates(awesome) and tacos. Warning: chicken tacos and fish tacos are both spicy! Blackened! After visiting the Taproom, I think I can say that Spring House is one of my favorite local beers. There wasn’t many beers that I tried that I didn’t like. Would love to stop by the Taproom again soon!

I love Spring House beer, so I was excited to finally stop by the Taproom. The Lemongrass and Coriander Saison and the Astounding She-Monster Mango IPA with Jalapeño were both fantastic. The food was decent, too, especially the wings and generous market salad. The disappointing part was definitely the service! None of us had ever been there before; we came in, made eye contact with the bartenders and sat at one of the tables. Very few people were there, mostly seated at the bar, and we were completely ignored. After a couple of minutes, we approached the bar and got sidelong looks from the people seated nearby, as if we shouldn’t have walked up. An acknowledgement and a quick word about ordering at the bar would have been fine, but we just stood there awkwardly for a few more minutes before an unsmiling bartender came up to ask what we wanted to drink. I asked if they were serving food and menus were just handed to us with the beers. After we ordered at the bar, the food was brought to our table, but we were never checked on. I echo the other reviewers here… A little service would go a long way. If anyone(and there were several employees there, including at least one sitting at the bar as a patron) had even just said, «Hi, feel free to order at the bar whenever you’re ready!,» it would have been fine. It wasn’t a welcoming atmosphere, which is a shame because everything was pretty great, from the beer to the food to the location.

Was here 2 weeks ago. I noticed a violinist playing inside as I was walking by. I decided to stop in and check it out. I walked up to the bar and squeezed myself between two people who looked at me like I didn’t belong there, to order a drink. The bartender saw me, but I was not served. I waited 10 minutes. He walked around and talked to people. He was not busy at all.

I really want to give a 3.5. I come here every time I visit Lancaster from Philly. This is a brew pub type atmosphere and it seems with every visit they add some new design inside to make it its own. I noticed they now have some groovy artwork above the bar which adds to a unique décor. The reason why I deduct stars is the bar is very loud as they have no acoustic sound absorbers, it’s always a pain to get a seat anywhere, and sometimes it’s tough to flag down someone from the bar to get a drink. The loudness and need for additional seats. or a larger venue. makes it feel somewhat stuffy and uncomfortable inside. With that said, they have original and tasty beers. They also have the best chocolate peanut butter stout I’ve had anywhere and it’s super delicious when on tap. Actually tastes like PB while being very pleasant. They also offer beer flights(samplers), served on vintage trays. This is a good way to go to try a little bit of everything. Their food menu has been evolving and growing over time. Last I heard, many of their appetizers are frozen, but for bar food, it’s still good. Try the monster mozz sticks, and pretzel and mustard. The food is simple, but at a brewpub, I don’t expect a fancy meal unless they set those expectations. They offer some sort of frequent visitor mug, so if you love it and are around, inquire within about said mug program! Also, they now sell Springhouse gear. The bathrooms are usually a little bit trashed with paper towels or TP on the floors. and this is in re: to ladies room.

Within walking distance of where we were staying we figured it would be ideal to get some food and booze(and not having to worry about driving epic distances throughout PA) while watching the Italy vs. England World Cup match. Unlike the other breweries we’d hit this one is definitely more adult-oriented and not family-friendly. And the two barmaids had that too-cool-suffering-from-ennui thing going on but we stayed and I’m glad we did. Their beers were fantastic(although not enough to warrant them selling their own bar/beer t-shirts for almost $ 30 a pop), the food was surprisingly yummy and it was fun to see Italy win(I was definitely outnumbered with most patrons that cared about the game wanting the UK to take it). One pointless story to share: a punk rock couple comes in(from the black clothing to Doc Martens to the endless tattoos) and they make a stink about the soccer match being played and head outside to drink. Where do we see that couple hours later? In our hotel bar. You’re drinking in a Marriott bar? Sorry guys — you’re posers.

Very nice beer. Raspberry mocha stout was Delicious! No table service for ordering and the bartenders really paid attention to the regulars. We ordered meatball sliders and a cheese plate. The sliders were a bit dry could have used more sauce and the cheese plate was meat and cheese. Very good but I like to know what cheeses I am trying. The menu said meat or cheese so we were pleasantly surprised. I am not sure the owners care but I have a few suggestions! Get a growler filler, so much great bear was wasted filling the growler. Have someone take your order not just your almost empty plates. Much more friendly. Have a way to label the beers on the sampler. We couldn’t remember what we ordered. Partner with a local winery. The selection Was horrible! Make your staffs t-shirts easier to pick out. My work here is done!

As I walked up to the bar and the patrons outside were singing in unison Aint No Sunshine I knew I was going to have a good time. A cozy little bar that is on one of the main drags in Lancaster. My cousin brought me here cause he knows I love the good beer. They offer a nice selection that range from Wheat, Stouts, IPA’s and Belgians. I saw that they had the Peanut Butter Stout and had to go for it. It was a great twist behind a really good stout. I was super pleased with it and so was my wife. For my 2nd brew I grabbed the Beyond the Gates DIPA and paired it with a pizza and grabbed some Bacon Wrapped Scallops. I liked the DPIA a lot had a good twist with a high kick in the mouth with hops. The pizza was to my liking, nice thin soft crust. Paired great with the beer. The scallops though were a little over done. But hell, they had bacon around them which makes everything better. I can’t wait to come back here when my cousin gets married in March. I will make my way back for their great brew and friendly atmosphere. Oh and the bad ass Zoltar machine that might make you«Big» CHEERS!!!
