I chose this to be my first Unilocal review, purposely. I am from Lancaster but currently live in Columbus, where there are a ton of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, etc. There are a lot of good ones too, but honestly speaking, they fall short of The Well. Not only does The Well bring a plethora of incredibly fresh, wholesale, and exciting flavors to the table– they do so while consciously considering allergy concerns, nutritional value, and local contribution by being exclusively gluten free, serving organics when available, and to my understanding sourcing veggies locally when possible. This is all awesome, especially in Lancaster, where the most creative move in the restaurant business prior to the birth of this restaurant was an addition of yet another chain. These guys are really going up and beyond the call of duty in the Lancaster restaurant circuit. The atmosphere is carefully and artistically constructed, the menu is always fresh and seasonal, and their selection of drinks, too, is awesome. In conclusion, head there soon.

Amazing! What a find! I was looking for a coffee roaster, and found that with much, much more. Wonderful, fresh organic food & coffee(french press), AND with the major bonus of gluten free desserts. I hit the jackpot! I am not vegan, but am gluten free. I also love the indoor play area & wood fort for kids… what a great & unique concept for the caliber of this venue. Adults have a meeting place to visit friends with great food & drink while kids/grandkids can play together. One more note is that they have some local artists work for sale there too… boutiquey aspect. I live in Logan, but have made this a regular trip as it is well worth the drive.

Had the Pumpkin Pie smoothie today… healthy and delicious with about a cup of butternut squash blended with banana and dates and spices. Quality ingredients and a cool atmosphere make this my favorite lunch spot in Lancaster.

This café is absolutely wonderful — Classy, calm, nourishing, and intentional to every last detail. My fiancé and I were driving to hocking hills and needed to stop for food. I was concerned about finding food because of my dietary restrictions, celiac(gluten allergy) and lactose intolerance. We found this place on a whim and are SOGLAD we checked it out! You walk into a beautiful space– hardwood floors, simple, clean design with open concept, local arts and crafts on the walls… They have an espresso bar, as well as organic smoothies and bowls. I opted for the nourishing bowl and am so glad I did. I DEVOURED it. The flavors together we’re so delicious, and it was vegan and gluten free! You should definitely treat yourself to this absolute delight. Everyone there is very personable and friendly as well!

I just love this place. It’s a bit pricey however it’s worth it. And there’s no doubt you get what you pay for. Which seems to be good quality wholesome food. I Love their kale salads. And today I enjoyed some type of pita with a roasted asparagus in it. I was a little apprehensive but delighted once I tried it. This is not a fast food restaurant. It takes a minute for them to prepare your food because most of it is made fresh at the time of your order. I would recommend this to my friends and I will surely be back.

What a gem! We are from Dayton and were up here for work. Seriously. MINDBLOWN. Not only was my peppermint mocha awesome, but they have a tree house — yes, a GIANTTREEHOUSE — inside along with lots of other pretend and play wooden toys. We hauled our children with us on the job today, and I am so grateful this is where we stopped for coffee. If you are a writer, a parent, designer, basically anyone creative, this is where to meet, drink, and play.

I rarely if ever give 5 stars for a dining experience, but The Well earned this! First off, when entering I was graciously greeted, which was very nice. The ambiance is kinda earthy, laid back and beautiful. They did a fantastic job with restoring this beauty. The food was extraordinary! If I could make vegetarian food like this everyday, I would be vegetarian. I had the kale salad and it was perfect in every way. I also ordered«The King» smoothie and it was delicious. The stainless steel straw was great. They also serve water in your own little glass decanter. Keep up the good work! Lancaster is taking notice!

From the reviews this place looks good. the only issue is that according to Unilocal they are open from 9 – 5, i took a late lunch(3:00) and went down to try them only to find they were closed. I dont know if Unilocal updates the hours or if the restaurants do but this should probably be fixed.

their frothy chai is super sweet, but in the right way-and filling. i also had one of their daily salad specials that included a mixture of berries and peaches and it was so tasty and perfect for lunch.

I stopped for a late lunch commuting home from Lancaster to Columbus. Telling my husband about the meal when I got home he said I overused the word«amazing.» The ZLT(zucchini, lettuce and tomato) sandwich was this wonderfully tangy zucchini spread that was almost like hummus with capers mixed in, on a soft delicious(gluten free) ciabatta. It came with a side of kale salad that was so much better than I expected, with delicious viniagrette, blackberries and pecans, I was sad when it was gone. I brought home some baked goods for the kids, they devoured the muffin, buckeye bar and cookies.

Short review: I stopped at The Well this morning for a cup of coffee and ended up getting the roast of the day prepared via French Press. The coffee was amazing. The service, however leaves something to be desired. I was not welcomed by anyone upon my entrance and the man who took my order didn’t seem very friendly. He also didn’t seem to care that this was my first visit. I won’t be going back any time soon.

Currently they are open from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. If I want to get lunch from them I will need to order carryout. I finally got the chance to eat here while on vacation from work. I enjoy the art and fresh teas and spices available for sale. Many, many items are showcased on the left and right walls. The food was prepared from scratch and was served within a timely manner. The staff is knowledgable about the menu and items for sale in the showcases. There is a nice play area for children toward the back of the facility. Very nice relaxing ambience. I highly recommend to everyone, especially anyone who likes to eat healthy :)

My favorite place to eat in Lancaster, and worth the drive if you are near. I discovered it today on Unilocal and was blown away. Everything is made from scratch every day, and from organic and local ingredients. Menu changes weekly. Delicious food, cold pressed juices, smoothies, coffees. Gifts and art, too. Family owned and operated. Try it once, really just try it. I’m glad that I did, and will eat here every time I am in town for work.

This is a great place to enjoy a cup of really good coffee, from French press to latte, in an old downtown building with character. The food is also excellent and locally sourced, with a changing menu reflecting what’s in season. I enjoyed the kale salad, and shared a great hummus plate. There is also a great space for kids if you have some in tow. So, skip the strip mall coffee joints and chain food stores and buy local stuff made with real care. You’ll be glad you did.
