In the mood for peaches? Need somewhere new to take the kids? Look no further than Lake Irene! This is a lovely U-Pick Farm tucked into a farming community, literally in a backyard. The couple who owns the place has their rows and rows and rows of peach trees open during season on the weekends. The peaches are $ 1.25 a pound or $ 12 a bucket(mine was about 14 pounds). I was surprised by how low to the ground the peach trees were, and how easy it was to pick a bucketful of peaches. The trees were just bursting with small but surprisingly tasty, juicy peaches. My friend brought her kids and they had a blast, even petting the chickens the farm is raising. I definitely recommend it as a fun family activity – and the cooking you’ll end up doing with all the peaches is great for the kids, too! You could bring a stroller, but it’s small enough(and tight enough) you’re better off walking. So far, I’ve made peach pie, ginger peach shortcake, peach muffins, peach bruschetta, and peach salsa. It has been SOFUN – and so tasty! Go, check it out!
