Nice atmosphere. Wings were tasty, but the quality of the wings are so small. Service was ok.

Won’t let me enjoy a beer on the(empty) patio? Manager/owner seem uninterested in customer service. Good beer, though.

I love this place! The salad bar is my all time favorite here and I get it basically every time I go. I always have friendly waitresses, Jodi being my favorite. The buff Orpington wings are amazing if you’re looking for a different flavor other than the classic hot or buffalo style wings. The beer selection is amazing and I love putting new beers on my beer card! Also have one of the best bloody Mary’s around. I always leave this place feeling full and satisfied. Other food favorites here include, the lanesboro nachos for two, fancy Mac, turkey focaccia sandwich, French onion soup, buffalo chicken sandwich, butternut squash quesadilla, and the chicken fajitas.

Welp, anyone from this area knows the typical quality of experience you get when you go to «The Forge» for some Buph and Beer. However, this trip has cemented the fact that I will never step foot in this place again. Here’s the deal: Upon arrival — we had a large group and they accommodated — painstakingly slow… I mean like place one menu, think, place one menu, think and all the while we are standing there in the middle of the restaurant blocking people and looking somewhat silly. My big problem with that is, when we tried to sit after most of the menus were placed, the woman who was setting the table copped an attitude with us. Oh — I am sorry — we only are trying to get out of the way of the rest of customers and after all, we are customers right? The waitress came over and she seemed nice, but man — she could not get the orders right to save her life. She brought the drinks over and basically was like who got this? pass it down… who got this? pass it down, etc. Same with the meals — she delivered my French Onion Soup to the wrong person, three… times… During the meal I hear an loud conversation behind us of a very pretentious and superficial nature. turns out — its the owner. self explanatory on that one. They dont split bills — so when it came time to pay — I walked the server through the process of what goes on what card. we didn’t trust her after that — see the ordering process above. The food quality was ok, but not worth it if I am going to receive less than stellar service. We won’t be back. Should have just went to patricks.

So I’m sitting here watching my companions enjoy their meals while I sip a gluten free beer. Apparently, after coming here for years to enjoy Dean’s wings or the potato skins, I’ve been told they can’t prepare these dishes gluten free. Wow, have I been glutenized with my previous orders?! Bummer for you Old Forge… and for me… as we will be parting ways. It was a good run while it lasted. Hence, the one star rating.

We come here for two things and two things only, the wings and beers. The wings seriously are THEBEST. Great flavor, not exactly«buffalo» flavor, there is a hint of sweetness in the sauce. The wings are always big and crispy too.

If you’re looking to grab wings and a beer let me just tell you, this place was to die for! There are over 100 craft beers to choose from with comical names and no matter which wings, out of the 20 different choices, that you order you will be quite satisfied. I had the Dean’s wings which are like Buffalo wings at a regular pub except with a Massachusetts twist! I also ordered the traditional wings which were soy sauce based and had a wonderful asian twist. They were outrageous, food was superb. In addition I got a burger and for dessert was greeted with a warm brownie sundae… mmmmm… Also forgot to mention the salad bar, which is a healthy alternative when in a restaurant that specializes in fried food. 5 stars no doubt. Highly recommend this place to a friend.

I really liked the Old Forge, and I would gladly recommend it to friends and family. The building is full of character that results in a really interesting dining experience. All of the brick work and fireplaces and such really add to the ambiance. Our family of four(including a tween and a teen) visited after a day of skiing, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I was a bit bummed when, after viewing the coziness of the main level, we were led downstairs to be seated. After a strange little hike downstairs and through some doors, we found a room with a character equal that of upstairs… and a roaring fireplace in the corner. The only thing I didn’t like is the fact that they had some Yankee Candles burning down there, which added a fragrance to the air that seemed opposed to the expected smells of hearty food. A small thing, to be sure, but it did stand out. We also found it a bit strange that the place was still decorated for Christmas in the middle of February. Even the specials menu was brimming with red and green festive clip art. Laziness? Or just a fondness for the holiday? I can’t really say. Our waitress was friendly and constantly surprised whenever anyone said«Thank You». She would essentially clutch her pearls with a small intake of breath and a surprised look and say, «Why, you are so welcome!» I mean, it’s super nice and sweet of her… but just a tiny bit creepy. We discussed and couldn’t decide which way her amazingly friendly attitude tipped the scales. You will have to decide for yourself. Dang, I had the fish and chips and it was awesome. Totally awesome. Perfect. I don’t even know what anyone else had because I was focused on that fish and chips. Really good. Oh, and they have a TON of beers… including a lot of obscure stuff. You would have to visit multiple times to even come close to sampling a bit of what they offer. I was overwhelmed, so I just ordered a Guinness, and it was awesome. I just want to go back. They next time we go up there for some skiing, I will be looking to return. Thanks!

I’m busting out one of my rare one star reviews for this because we were effectively kicked out of here before we could eat! While visiting a few years ago, I came in for a couple of beers and had a lovely experience, so was really looking forward to coming back, as they do have a really legit beer list. This time, however, was a real disappointment. I came here with my husband, mom, and sister with plans of drinking beer and getting dessert. We waited for a table for about half an hour, and after we were seated ordered a round of beer. Once our server came back with our beer, we put in our dessert order, and also asked if they had any vegan appetizers for my vegan mom(they do not). The server walked away, but a few minutes later she came back only to ask if we were going to be ordering actual entrees. We said no, that we had come in for beer and dessert(this was about 8pm). She then tells us that we are going to have to give up our table and stand, as the tables in the dining room are only for people who are eating full meals. There are several reasons this is totally unacceptable: — This policy was not made clear anywhere prior to us putting our names down for a table. — We WEREORDERINGFOOD. We didn’t just get a table to sit and drink beers, we were having actual food — I have never heard of a restaurant that won’t let you come in and have dessert and drinks. — Had we been allowed to stay, we would have ordered at least two rounds of beer to go with our dessert, meaning our tab would have been close to $ 100. I certainly don’t understand why a $ 100 tab doesn’t constitute a table. — Kicking people out halfway through their beers is terrible customer service. if you aren’t going to post this policy somewhere, then you just need to let people know that next time, if you aren’t eating an entrée, you need to wait for a spot at the(very small) bar. The server ended up bringing our check, and during the cash out process, we finished our one round. While that was going on, the manager who had told our server we need to leave got into a verbal altercation with another customer, loudly calling her rude. I have worked in restaurants for years — there is so much wrong here that we will not be coming back, and I sadly cannot recommend it to others without a drastic change in management.

I will never, I repeat, NEVER come back here. 3 times of leaving completely pissed. The burgers are bland and came out cold. The wings are tasty. The tall husky guy is grumpy and was always the 1st person to address me. Wouldn’t sit me because I was alone and there are certain tables for single people and no seats open at the bar. Another time he wouldn’t sit me until my friend was inside(she was parking the car in the crappy unpaved parking lot). The service was nothing special and not friendly. On the 3rd try, he was grumpy again as if I was a nuisance coming in. Whatever I ordered was good but nothing special. The prices are on the high side, especially when you are leaving unhappy. Oh yes, and they charge for drink refills(soda and tea)

Came through here to watch a little football and have some of their acclaimed wings. The 12 or 14 Seasonal taps had a decent selection. The bottle list is extensive but doesn’t list alcohol % or IBU’s which can be helpful for designated drivers and beer snobs alike. Fortunately our waitress knew her beers and was able to get us exactly what we were looking for. The hot wings were great, some of the best I’ve had. Traditional wings… not so much, a little heavy on the cumin and not much else. A note for anyone wanting to watch sports here, the TVs are pretty small and sparsely located. The TV at the room we were sitting in had the TV at eye level, which meant that anyone getting up(and socializing) would block the action. So if seeing every minute of a game is your prerogative, I’d suggest somewhere else. Great scene otherwise though.

The timing was right for a lunch stop and the blue and white Bavarian flags beckoned us to turn the car around. It’s Oktoberfest season! Although not necessarily a sports bar, it is a good place for pigskin. After a visual survey of the draughts, we settled on Hofbrau Lagers, a flatbread and a shareable salad. The service was good — our waitress seemed to be new — and one other constantly roaming the dining room in search of empty plates. One tip: avoid sitting by the front door. Each time the door closes, the wall shakes.

This place is great as far as character and being a good local spot for beer and food. Unfortunately, the bartender we had was rude and seemed like we were bothering him, anytime we needed a drink or to order. He was not helpful with the menu and when I ordered he made a rude comment about not being able to hear and walked away. Sadly, this place is an area gem with bad service.

Four stars for the chicken wings! We had the sweet and spicy wings and it has a Curry catchup type of flavor that was really phenomenal. They have a massive beer selection and also some pretty good hard ciders too. We tried a few other things on the menu but it just didn’t seem that great to me there’s a lot of fried food. But like I said the wings were finger lickin good– apparently they’ve one lots of awards for their wings and I can believe it they were cooked to perfection and rave rave rave about the wings!!!

On the positive side: the food was good and our table on the deck had great ambiance. I was craving a burger and the Old Forge burger was juicy and delicious. Sunset over the mountain was delightful. The negative, and why it didn’t get four stars, is that the service was slow and ineffective. My husband’s meal was delivered a good 10 minutes after the rest of the family which is completely unacceptable. He ordered a salad! Our server was friendly but the rest of the staff serving us didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Sorry, Old Forge, wanted to love you but between waiting 40 minutes for a table and then having slow and poor service you only get three stars.

DELICIOUSWINGS. My husband I tried the old forge hot wings and they were perfectly crispy and tasty. The sauce was even more flavorful than your normal Frank’s Red Hot sauce. There was something extra tangy making them extra scrumptious. Good bleu cheese too, nice and garlicky. I was NOT impressed with their nachos for two even though they are acclaimed by others. Grocery store tortilla chips, old tomatoes, sad ground beef, canned olives and cheese I can’t even remember(not enough cheese/not super tasty.) Because of this experience I’ve decided to steer clear of northeast tex-mex offerings. Better to be safe than sorry. Thanks, Old Forge. There is PLENTY to drink at this place. It boasts as having over 100 beer offerings(drafts and bottles). A tasty draft from Uinta brewery ran us $ 7. Worth it for the price, I’m not sure. But it was refreshing and the draft had some great foam. Ambiance was very unique! The restaurant was packed with regulars on a Sunday afternoon. When you walk in you’re in a small room with signs posting«wait to be seated.» I hated that there was no hostess. We awkwardly waited wondering if anyone was going to welcome us. Bothersome for me as a newcomer. But someone came… eventually. There’s beer memorabilia all over the dark wooden walls and ceilings. It felt like we were in a barn. Someone called it «revolutionary style.» I’d stop by again for the wings! Wings are my weakness. And who doesn’t love lots of beer options…

Late June, too cold for the deck, but I recommend that option for the view. Pub casual inside, real caz-ual, But excellent service, plenty of beers, good choices too… reasonable wine pricing. Entrees looked great, the wings and the nachos flying out of the kitchen to other tables. Word was they were excellent. Split the mussels appetizer, Nice portion and well prepared. Nice sauce and two big chunks of garlic bread, The etouffe was also big enough to split. Spicy, and shrimp, chicken and sausage were all tasty. Pub rating B+. Just not gourmet level on the prep. Would go back as so many do, the parking lot was FULL! it is a bit pricey on the entrees, high teens and up dollar wise, Burger pricing was fair at $ 11. I would deem it old school done well.

Probably some of the best wings I’ve ever had. This bar is a true gem — off the main road, carved into the side of rocky crevice and dark n’ divey inside. It’s really the perfect place to finish off a day of skiing; the smell of a wood burning fire and the bar brimming with old memorabilia will send you back to carefree days when all you had to worry about was taking that basket weaving final online and when you were taking laundry home to mom. If you enjoy something a little different, try the Buff Orpington wings. Named after a yellow chicken breed, I didn’t understand the reference until I left the dark dining room and went to the bathroom, where I freaked out over the intense yellow color of my fingernails. And my face. And my hands. But by golly, it was worth it. The wings were a spicy marriage of cumin, turmeric and maybe a hint of something sweeter like honey. They weren’t hot by any means, but they had enough flavor to keep me going back for more. They were also cooked perfectly, on the crispier side, so that the outside crunch was the perfect crust to seal in the moisture of the chicken. We also tried the Forge Burger with American cheese and bacon. It was cooked exactly medium rare and totally delicious. Both these dishes hit the spot and send us back to our cabin feeling totally satisfied. With a couple of excellent craft porters and stouts to wash down the wonderful pub food, this place will be a Sure Thing the next time we’re in the Berkshires.
