Not totally bad. Stingy with food, was promised crab legs but they only put out 4 pieces at a time. Has potential but needs a lot of work. Food was OK but again they only put out a couple of servings of each item. Which meant that many things were empty by the time you got to them. they charge more on Fridays and Saturdays because of the crab legs, every time i went to get some, they were gone, so don’t waste your time on the weekend, this is more a middle of the week affair.

New owners, not good! Stay away! This was our favorite Chinese buffet. Came back from vacation and stopped in for a quick bite. Wow, how things can change.

everything is always fresh and i love coming here. its a rare find when the jello at a buffet isn’t hard as a rock, and A1 somehow manages to keep it wiggling. Sushi is always a good option here, as well as the crab rangoon. Never had a bad experience with their noodle or rice dishes, and their chicken is always seasoned just enough… not like other places that have too much sauce/spice for the small amount of chicken. Love coming here, and love going back. One of my favorite spots when up near the OVM.

Oh oh, I never thought I’d meet an Chinese buffet that I didn’t like… until now. I tried the following: There are 6 primary stations. Appetizers(egg rollers, spring rolls, dumplings, dim sum, hot and sour soup) — I can say positively the hot and sour soup was hot in temperature and had tofu. Salad station(American) — lots of jello of all colors, raw oysters(suspect), iceberg lettuce and an assortment of dressing. Sushi station — there was sashimi and maki rolls. Hot foods — typical americanized chinese food — chicken with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, lo mien, Traditional chinese food — pork roast, eggplant stuffed with shrimp, steamed flounder. Pick your own stir fry. In addition to the unary roll, egg rolls, spring rolls, pork dumpling, hot and sour soup, green beans, chicken teriyaki, eggplant, steamed shrimp dumplings in a search for something just to make a meal of. Sorry to say, the only passable item was the soup. Recommendation: take the $ 10.99/dinner and go to the Panda Garden in any of a number of food courts or if your in the mood for sushi — your local Genuardi’s or Whole Foods. I’d even say that the McCafferty’s chinese food bar is better($ 6.99/pd — but is way overpriced). Of course, no atmosphere but not expected when you go to a buffet. Pity, I wanted to like the place.

The all you can eat Chinese, Japanese and American buffets are growing like weeds in our area and they are in competition with each other to have the finest selections of food at the lowest prices. We have a couple that have been around for years and to keep up with the new buffets opening you slowly see them adding more food like sushi, sashimi and crab legs and the quality and quantity has improved. This is serious business folks! We recently had a new buffet of this type open in the Pine Watson shopping center and before I had a chance to visit them they closed down, which seemed to happen right after the colossal Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet opened not too far away. A1 Buffet & Grill reminds me a lot of the Hibachi Grill, with rows and rows of buffet tables set up serving fresh sushi rolls, shrimp, clams and mussels served hot or cold, your favorite Chinese dishes, quite a few offerings of soups, including miso and hot and sour, Italian dishes, a full salad bar with fresh cut fruits and a huge dessert table with a hard dipped ice cream cooler near by, all for the ridiculously low price of $ 10.99 for the all you can shove in your mouth and fill your belly to the brim dinner buffet, on Monday through Thursday, or $ 11.99 on Friday and Saturday,(Sunday is an all day, all you can eat seafood buffet for $ 11.99). You can also get the lunch or dinner buffet to go but they charge by the pound. They also have a hibachi grill where you pick and choose what you want them to cook up in a flash and they serve pizza which I’m sure impresses the little ones a bit more. The dinner buffet starts at 4:00 and that is when the crab legs come out, I wish folks would be polite in taking a couple to a few and allow the restaurant to keep up with the demand, you can always go back for more, especially when they have over 200 items to choose from. The lunch buffet starts at 11:00, seven days per week and is $ 6.59, I have not tried the lunch, but I am sure certain things will not be on the buffet. Either at lunch or dinner you can order off the menu, but why would you and they had rooms off to the side to accommodate private parties. This is a BYOB and fair warning if you saw their add in the Clipper Magazine which shows Peking duck, they do not have it on the buffet, I searched high and low and finally asked. Long story short, how can you beat a deal like this? I stuffed myself silly with lots of sushi, both the miso and hot and sour soup, stuffed clams, mussels, shrimp any way they cooked it, egg rolls, dumplings galore, crab legs and little scoops of a gazillion different pork, beef, chicken and seafood dishes. Hubby filled up on clams, shrimp, crab legs and gave the chef at the hibachi grill a work out. It’s good stuff at unreal prices and it’s a good idea to starve yourself for one week before going.
