Super helpful, knowledgable staff. Amazingly diverse selection of books. A great small business to support.

Wow. I’m startled to see the«unfriendly staff» reviews below, because I had such a lovely time chatting and shopping in this store that I purposely bought an extra book I’d been longing for just to support a small business and bookshop. What can I say? Everybody was genuinely upbeat, conversational, humorous, and helpful. The décor is spartan, but everywhere I looked, books I might not have heard of called out their names to me. Great selection. I was envious that I live in a community on the mainland that is a billion times bigger than Langley and we have not a single independent bookstore. I’ll definitely shop there again!

So sad to see the awful service and poor experience that has become a once wonderful local bookstore. For years I have enjoyed the thoughtful selection here and happily paid full price to support this local institution. No more. My two well behaved children, supervised, were sitting upstairs leafing through books while we made a tall pile of selections when a very rude older woman told them to stop making noise. They were not. And the woman was downright unfriendly and mean. We left our books and will not be back. A store with lots of children’s books might expect the occasional child and greet them courteously. Perhaps they will take note. We will take our book dollars elsewhere. Thankfully other vendors in town remain delightful as is the Langley way

I have to give this establishment a sorry 2 stars. Although I love reading and love the selection and choices displayed at Moonraker, the staff is absolutely unwelcoming and supremely unfriendly. I put all the books I was planning on purchasing down and left without buying. I asked if they had two particular books in stock(they did not)… the point is I felt judged for even asking. Fist off, the woman behind the counter did not even look for the books I was asking about… simple, «no.» Fine, maybe she does all the buying for the store and has a full catalog of all the titles they carry in her head but the cold manner of the conversation was very, very off putting. Nothing helpful about her… I was clearly in the market for a book, did she not want my money? It is green after all… On another occasion, my sister and I were shopping around and were closely followed by one of the clerks. We both had planned on buying multiple books for(her kids) my nieces and nephews. My sister was flipping through a book when one of the clerks grabbed the book out of my sisters hands and put it back on the shelf before she was done with it. AGAIN, we put all our books down and left. I have had a couple other experiences where I knew what I wanted, went in, purchased the book and left without issue but… because I have had two extremely poor experiences with the staff I was compelled to write this review. This is my first bad review as a Unilocaler and am very sorry that it has to be over something as joyous as a bookstore.

Not a very friendly staff… We read that the store was open until 6pm and rushed on over. My daughter and I got there at 5:20 and the women behind the counter said they were closing in 5 minutes? Several others came in after us, and the woman did not say that to any one else and ended up staying open until 6 pm after all. Selection was decent but not worth her attitude.,

I love this place, its been here in Langley for some time. When I was a wee lad this the place that I bought all my Conan, John Carter of Mars and HP Lovecraft paperback books. there is nothing better than reading a good book on a stormy day at the cabin. Now I take Rj to get his Harry Potter and Star Wars paperback books. I love the smell of ink and paper.

The books in this store are so inviting. Books you wouldn’t have thought to look for are singing their siren songs. The staff is charming and chatty, consistently welcoming folks to the books upstairs – and it’s worth the walk. The second floor is light, airy, and as well-laid out(but different) as the first floor. There is a sale corner up there, too! My favorite section happened to be a great one about different homes, like tiny homes and narrow homes. Just a bunch of engaging books you wouldn’t have looked for but you happily find. Each section is small but purposeful, making the visitor remember how great finding new books can be so awesome.
