Smoke Daddy’s

END OF AN ERA
This is easily THE BEST BBQ in the Philly area, and I’ve tried most of them. OK, BBQ is a personal thing; you like what you like, and even mediocre BBQ is a very good thing. But Smoke Daddy’s has BBQ that could win at real BBQ competitions, which IMHO few of the other places around here could do.
Had one of his holiday special, brined, sausage stuffing-​stuffed smoked Turkeys for the first time recently, and it was excellent. Very smokey and perfectly cooked. Homemade gravy was great too (on the thinner side than you might be used to).
So I’m very sorry to report that due to insufficient business (unfortunately, Michael chose a terrible location where you have to know where it is to find it), SMOKE DADDY’S IS CLOSING FOREVER AT THE END OF JANUARY 2012.
So, get some of his wonderful ribs (his best item IMHO) and chat with him while you can… And do what I do, and freeze some of it for the months ahead…

This place is awesome. I have tried all of the ribs and the pulled chicken before and let me tell you, this is some of the best BBQ I have ever had. The Ribs were FULL of flavor and were among the biggest Ribs I have a ever had. The pulled chicken sandwich is probably my favorite because it is so juicy and with a little bit of the mild BBQ sauce, it really tastes out of this world. The sides are so-​so, but the quality of the meats just makes up for that instantly. Make sure you ask for extra BBQ, it is so good.
On top of everything, the people that run this place are extremely nice. The only draw back is that they are only open to the public during the summer time (and only thursday-​saturday). I have heard that you can get it year round if you subscribe to the «Eagles Club». Like many others have said already, please run to this place if you get the chance, its a must have!

We’re usually not ones to repeat restaurants, but we went here every Friday when we were living in Blue Bell. It was that good. Always the same order — two meats (always pulled chicken, the other varied by our mood) + ribs (St. Louis style) + two sides (mac & cheese + baked beans).
I never liked baked beans until I tasted Smoke Daddy’s baked beans. And the pulled chicken is the best BBQ I’ve had to date. It is just so good. Try it out, you’ll be very happy.

Where has this place been for the 9 years we’ve lived in Lansdale? My hubby and I had NO idea this place existed. One of the kiddos is away for the weekend and we wanted something different to treat ourselves to. Saw the reviews on Chowhound and knew we had to try it. Got a big combo platter of ½ chicken, some burnt ends and some pulled pork, along with baked beans and mac/​cheese I think it came to around $ 22 and it was MORE then enough for me and my hubby (who can eat like a champ). It was REALLY good. The burnt ends were awesome, the chicken was the BEST I’ve had in a long time. My hubby loved the pork, and there carolina sauce is pretty good. The baked beans were a tad dry for my taste… I like saucy beans :) The mac and cheese was in the middle but I make a hell of a good mac and cheese so it’s hard to compare.
They are a take out/​call in place in a tent in a parking lot! And it was well worth it. I STRONGLY recommend that you try it if you looking for something different in Lansdale. We are so NOT chain restaurant people and around this area… there are loads of them. This place is worthy of putting in our take out menu box for sure!
