You never expect to see a menu featuring gourmet Italian faire on one page and truly excellent Japanese food on the other — but here you have it. This exquisite Lansdowne BYOB inhabits the digs formerly occupied by the once flourishing Sycamore, which was a casualty of spotty parking and Lansdowne’s lack of brand recognition as a restaurant town. Patrone is a first class bistro with a wildly varied menu. The PEI mussels were fresh and plentiful. Their rock shrimp tempura appetizer was succulent, crispy in all the right places and elegantly presented. The scallops carbonara dish was delicious in every way and the filet mignon flavorful, tender and beautifully prepared. We plan to return again and again.

Absolutely delish! Great sushi and the rock shrimp tempura were fantastic. The veal chip that my colleagues ordered got rave reviews. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in town again.

Patrone is one of our favorite restaurants and we were a little concerned when we found out it had new owners. We tried it last night and our fears were put to rest. The restaurant is still in transition and had very limited serving staff but they were excellent. The menu was expanded and now has Sushi and Sashimi added to the menu. We had the Seafood Risotto and the special of the night Fresh Caught Alaskan King Salmon which were excellent. We also had four items from the Sushi/Sashimi section and all were excellent. We are very happy that the new owner has actually improved the menu and keeping the chefs on board is a plus.

I am in awe everytime i come here. So pleasnt… but at the same time down to earth. Ive never experienced a five star atmosphere in a pettite surrounding. If you ever come to Lansdowne PA, please check this place out. We need more places like this. This place enspires me as I am a cook myself to grow and learn more. Food… great. Service… excellent. Thats all you can ask for!

Patrone is a great place! We had a birthday dinner there for a party of 13 and it was perfect. The private space was beautiful. The service was wonderful. Most importantly, the food was fantastic! It’s a place you try and will continue to return to. The talented Chef and the Hostess were very pleasant. Love this Restaurant.

Amazing. You should try this place! Living in Delaware County, it’s not easy finding inspired, city worthy cuisine. Last night we dined at this gem and it was fantastic. Our service was impeccable and the food was divine. Try the grilled scallop with squash appetizer, the garlicky Caesar salad and the wonderful wagyu beef bolognese with homemade pappardelle pasta. Another amazing dish we tried was the Alaskan King Crab legs tempura with its sweet sauce.(Wow!!!) The poussin(whole chicken) was also perfectly cooked. I didn’t get much in the way of a sample, unfortunately, as it didn’t last long on the plate before being completely devoured. The concept is Italian with international influences and it works! We are so glad to have a truly exciting, delicious and unique dining experience in our area! We can’t wait to go back.

I’d love to tell you how the food was, but they wouldn’t even serve us. My party of three walked in an hour before closing to find two other small parties in the room and nothing but empty tables. That’s when the hostess asked if we reservations. We told her we didn’t realize we needed them. She then told us they couldn’t serve us because the chef was closing the kitchen. How could the chef be closing the kitchen if they still have guests waiting for their meals? How could he be closing the kitchen if they’re still waiting for other reservations? Ridiculous!

Wow. That really sums up our meal at Patrone. Wow. First of all, forget about this being Italian restaurant. It’s more of a Japanese/Italian fusion restaurant. We went out last night, the Friday before Labor Day weekend, to celebrate. We were looking for something different, and Patrone showed up on Unilocal. It’s definitely different. The restaurant had only one other couple when we arrived, though several other groups arrived during the course of our dinner. The food is the star here. Everything was well balanced. I got one of the special appetizers, seared yellow tail with a soy based sauce with microgreens. Unbelievably good. My wife got the tapas special, 3 different preparations with some grilled flatbread. Even the olives were delicious. For dinner I had the diver scallops. The scallops were very sweet, but it was the sauce that pulled it all together. My wife got the honey glazed tempura King Crab. Others have noted this was a small portion, but not in our case. My wife loved it, though it was a little sweet for my taste. We finished with some great deserts. So, give this place a try. It is a bit expensive, but worth it. It is Byob, and they take only cash.

My family and I just finished dinner here and I haven’t been this disappointed in a meal in a long time. The waiter, who I’ll get to later, mentioned that the chef had decided to change the menu 2 days before to reflect his passion for the food. Unfortunately, that passion was poorly executed and lacking in any substance. My mom had the deconstructed burger which was Kobe, but exhibited none of the qualities of a good cut of Kobe other than being dripping in grease from the marbled nature inherent to the beef. On top of this, the burger was supposed to be topped with a quail egg, which was forgotten and would have stayed that way had I not mentioned it to the waiter. The scallops were good, but the portion itself was light for the price. The squid ink sea urchin pasta was semi unavailable because they didn’t have the Squid pasta — The waiter told me the pasta they had was still hand made so I thought I’d give it a go. The pasta was well cooked, but lacked any seasoning. The only substance to this plate was a light bit of sea urchin and some caviar which lacked any true flavor other than salt. A disappointment. Now back to our waiter. Perhaps it was the fact that the menu was only two days old, but the guy literally knew nothing. I asked for an appetizer recommendation and he could barely spit out the words to tell me which was his favorite. I asked him his thoughts on the entrees and he struggled to tell me the base ingredients which I could read from the menu. Needless to say, he wasn’t on his game and hurt the experience more than anything. My fiancée and I came here with my family because of what we saw on Unilocal and from the business we saw walking through Landsdowne. We had high hopes for great traditional but well prepared Italian meal, but we came away with over– priced, over– thought, and poorly executed«Italian fusion» cuisine. Being that this was our first time here, I’d love to know what the food was like before, and would recommend going back to what was working for you.

So I went for dinner for the first time with their new menu and as a foodie at heart, I was most impressed for a quaint little restaurant outside of center city. I’ve tried the old menu and now the new, and it’s a tremendous improvement. I tasted every sweat and tear that went into every dish. The menu was limited but trust me my party and I ordered everything available. We started with duck prosciutto salad, sounds interesting right? Every bite down to the sliced Apple and brie was so light and tasty. Also had tempura which was perfectly and lightly fried. The quail appetizer was perfectly cooked. I’ve had quail many times, mainly bbq’d, this was very tender with a light glaze which gave it perfect amount of flavor. We also had the gyoza potstickers, and you’d never know you were having a taste of rabbit among other meat blend. It was mild with a really good dipping sauce. Onto the entrees, We had bad ass steak, pigs in a blanket, truffle butter, and diver scallop. My favorite was the pasta because it’s rare to get good fresh made pasta, all the veggies and tomatoes were so fresh, plating could use work but I didn’t care it was yummy. Steak was perfectly cooked and I love a good steak with some salt and pepper that’s when you know it’s good quality teak. I like mine medium rare by the way. The scallops were delicious It was char grilled and had a very light sauce with a side of puréed purple potato and charred corn everything meshed well together. And the honey truffle king crab tempura was nothing but meaty crab with a honey truffle glaze which was very good. And more of a sharing dish than an entrée for one. I love truffle so I would’ve liked to have tasted more of it in the dish. All in all, I was extremely satisfied. It’s rare to find restaurants around town that satisfy your palette for well made food. Definitely give it a chance and it’s a bonus that it’s Byob and has a parking lot. I’ll be back for the couple dishes they didn’t have available that night.

I am so glad we gave Patrone another chance! After my last visit I wrote a negative review. The owner Jake invited us back for another meal«on the house». No we did not announce our arrival and take a free meal! We came and we feasted on wonderfully prepared meals– Dan had a veal chop with asparagus and he said it was probably the largest and best piece of meat he has ever had. I had a delicious cheese ravioli dish with auroura sauce– it was rich and very tasty. Our server Caitlin was attentive and enthusiastic . All in all it was a spectacular meal.

Dined in here for a second time for a dinner date with a friend. The chef for the night was Steven, who came out to greet abs have a quick chat with us and other diners. I can’t remember the name of my server for the night, but she was very friendly, personable and polite; she was probably the most well mannered server I’ve had the pleasure of being served by. This time around, I ordered the veal special, medium well — — the meat was tender, the portion was quite huge compared to my plate, no additional seasoning was required, and the sauce was sweet and complemented the veal perfectly. We had the gyoza potstickers for our appetizer and they were succulent. My friend — — who is an avid Asian cuisine foodie– said that they were the best potstickers he’s ever had, and he’s had many throughout his life. That was my first experience with potstickers and I’m hooked! For dessert, he had a chocolate cake and I had the caramel pecan cheesecake. I tried a bit of the chocolate cake and found myself slightly disappointed that it wasn’t very rich in flavor. At the very least, it was aesthetically satisfactory. The caramel pecan cheesecake was absolutely divine. For me, it was cute and of an adequate portion. The texture was soft and creamy and the flavor was sweet and heavenly. The takeout boxes are very sophisticated and gratefully not Styrofoam for those of you who may be environmentally conscious. I intend to become a regular here! It was perfect for a date night.

We were hoping for something good to replace Sycamore, and here’s Patrone! First and foremost, the staff are wonderful– the chef Jake came out to talk to us which really makes for a special experience. All of our entrees were delicious and thoughtfully planned out. The basil pesto dipping for the bread– unbelievable! A great atmosphere, a sweet blonde waitress who made sure my mom didn’t pay for her birthday dessert, and close to home? We will definitely be back. My only criticism is the coffee– it wasn’t good. Otherwise, definitely a place to check out!

Love this little gem in Lansdowne ! We’ve been here twice so far. We went the first time & had the Shrimp Marie &(melt in your mouth) Gnocchi. We liked it so much we went back again & brought friends. The pumpkin ravioli special was great as well as the 20oz prime rib special. The ricotta cheese with olive oil they bring to the table with bread is a really nice touch. The owner is friendly, the staff is attentive & nice, and we’ve seen the chef wander out of the back to greet tables as well. Hope this is successful, we love having such a great local place to go. It’s right across the street from the regional rail Lansdowne station so it’s easy for friends in Media or Center City to get to as well.
