The Mane Attraction

I’ve been coming here for a year and a half now, it’s the only place I want to come home to. This salon is not only trained correctly but the owner, Mair, continues to further her education with her stylists. It’s a breath of fresh air to know you can actually discuss with your colorist what you want to achieve and get the answer rather than a guesstimate. I truly believe if you’re looking for a home away from home with amazing services, pricing and caring staff, look no further than The Mane Attraction. You will get exactly what you’re looking for!

I think this will be my new hair salon! I love my haircut by Shawna who is actually a bit younger/​newer which is fine by me. I made a somewhat last minute appointment and was 10 minutes late, but they were okay with that especially since I’d be their last customer of the night. Shauna knew her stuff. Many people don’t understand the way my hair must be layered and mess it up but she knew better than I did! She suggested she point cut it, instead of razor cut it like I asked. The reason being that with my thick straight hair, the stylist must use very small pieces of hair at a time with the razor technique (or it will turn out blunt and full, defeating the purpose) and usually a stylist won’t because it’s time consuming, which explains why others have messed my hair up. So she point cut it and it turned out to be exactly like my last favorite haircut years ago, I just never knew what the first stylist had done! Now I know, and I think I’ll be coming back.
The place was very clean and neat, and smelled like good products. Shauna was fun and a pleasure to work with. She was incredibly personable and relaxed. She was kinda funny too. I didn’t get a chance to talk to the owner much since she was doing some bookkeeping, but she was very personable as well. Altogether a wonderful experience! Oh, and check for online coupons I got 20% off for «student discount» and there are several others. (Although the prices are very good to begin with!)

The owner of this salon is my friend Mair, but that is NOT why it is a 5 star experience to me. The salon is great, and the hair stylists there are top notch. I had an opportunity recently to be a hair model for a coloring class that Mair and one of her other stylists were having at the shop, with a fabulous Paul Mitchell rep, and I eagerly volunteered since I“d needed to color my hair since September (yes, I’m lazy like that ;)). I was told it was a complimentary single coloring, which I was totally cool with. When I got there, the Paul Mitchell rep recommended color for me, and not only did I get the color done, she threw highlights in to boot :) What impressed me most though, was the knowledge that Mair and the other stylist had. They were «talking shop» with the rep, and the rep was impressed at how much they both knew, and didn’t need to be taught on certain processes with hair coloring. Not only that, Mair let me know that even if she decides not to carry the Paul Mitchell hair color in house, she will order it for me when it comes time to touch up my color. She’s fabulous! Not to mention, she’s also carrying Motives cosmetics including the customized blend line of foundations! She also has events at her shop on occasion, which is rather cool too :) Check her shop out, you won’t be disappointed. Bring change for the meters, unless you park over in Bottom Dollar Food parking lot, as the parking in the back lot behind the salon is Septa parking until 3 or 4pm I believe.
