All around great music shop! Todaro’s has a wide variety of instruments from around the world and if Joe doesn’t have what you’re looking for he will get it. Taking music lessons there now and I couldn’t be happier with the staff. Awesome experience!

I’ve never played an instrument but this is the kind of place that makes me want to start. It has a wide range of instruments available, many of them hand made and fun to look at even if you’re not sure how they sound. The owner, Joseph Todaro, was welcoming to me and a friend when we visited with her toddler-age daughter. Not all store owners in a down economy are as relaxed when there are little kids in a roomful of expensive and fragile merchandise are Mr. Todaro, believe me. Mr. Todaro is interesting to talk to, and if you want to know about any local music events that the area papers may not have mentioned, he’s a good source. On the same block as Todaro’s Music there are several very good places for coffee, snacks or a meal.

Not since Krill’s at 69 Street, has there been a more caring Instrument /Teaching Establishment. It started as a Hole in the Wall, at a less perfect location in East Lansdowne, moving to Lansdowne, on the same Street, twice. A n impressive range of Musical Instruments, seen in Encyclopedia or Internet are here, actually here; touchable, playable, too! It’s hard to price range Todaro’s. I bought Percussion Instruments for under $ 10 and a Dobro w/case for over $ 800. Joe Todaro travels the world to bring us, what is hard to find and/or buy. He appears to design and build variations of String Instruments. Is there anything he doesn’t do. My Dobro came from his second move. He helped me get a Case for my 12 String. Over the years Tab Books for: «Faking«, Slide Guitar for beginner to Professional, Blues Books and books that make this ‘Old Hippey’ feel good! Recently: Kalimba, An Original Hugh Tracy Kalimba; and a Heart Shaped Mbira; both known as an African Thumb Piano, mine; had one years ago, lost it. Now, i have two. There are ‘stores’ in Springfield that sell to The Musician, Professional Musician; God Spare You from The Righteous Indignation if you’re not in that League. Stay Out. They would not tolerate me or guide me towards the Right Direction. Joe Todaro and his Experience«IS» Todaro’s Music, he welcomes inexperience, that is what a Teacher does. Stay Safe, Joe!

Great place! Not your average music store and that’s what’s good about it. They have a lot of hard to find items, plus the owner is a great guy!

Todaro’s has been a beloved Lansdowne institution for over 20 years. This was the place I picked up my first guitar, and where I learned to play my first song. If anyone in this area wants to play an instrument, this is often the first place they think of. Joe has an impressive, thorough knowledge not just of music but of instruments. Point to anything in the store and he can give you a full background of the item and all the specs. He makes sure that his staff is just as smart and helpful as he is. I used to take guitar lessons here with a hired instructor from age 10 – 16. In the time after that I got caught up in high school, went to college, moved into the city, and found work. When my gf’s birthday came around I decided to buy her a good, used trombone. After scouring the city to no avail I found myself back at Todaro’s for the first time in 8 years. To my surprise Joe remembered exactly who I was and who I took lessons with. He sold me a beautiful, unique trombone that sounded great and my gf loved. A month later I ran into him on the street and he asked how everything worked out. I don’t know if it gets any better than that.
