Excellent Chinese food. My go-to place used to be Chen’s but this is just as good if not better.

They’re open until 2AM, super friendly, cheap, deliver, and are right next to The Avenue. That’s all I need.

Tasty food if a little under seasoned and under spiced(both easy to fix), delivered quickly too. The free soup is also a nice touch that I’ll be having for lunch tomorrow. Additionally, if you order the lunch dishes, they tend to run a little short on rice. This is not a bad thing, because you get almost as much entrée as the dinner order. As someone who owns a rice cooker, I can make rice with about 30 seconds of effort and 30 cents in cost.

I’ve ordered take out here 3 times now. The staff has always been really nice and have given good suggestions. Service is always fast(usually within 15 minutes) and they always give something for free like soda or watermelon. The food itself tastes fresh and not overly salty or oily. The also stay open pretty late. I’ve been lucky to always find street parking but I know the bar next door gets busy sometimes but I’m pretty sure they have delivery too.

Owners are very nice and food comes quick(@12 am)! Sometimes they’ll give you free watermelon or soup. Fried rice was very good, had pork and chicken. Friend and I had gone 4 times and always enjoyed it unless we had dishes we’d never tried before which is always a big mistake but we never learn! I absolutely love the hot and sour soup! I had tummy troubles(not because it was bad quality, I just have a weak stomach) from it the first time but it was so good I ordered more the next time. They have gatorade flavors that you won’t find at Meijers/Walmart/Gas stations. The red one which is fruit punch mixed with something else is so so good. It’s not the best chinese here in Lansing but it’s the best you’ll get at 12 am if you’re nocturnal like I am!

OK, this was my first time, so keep this in mind. First the good; Very Clean and nicely decorated on the inside and close to downtown Lansing. The bad; Waitress spoke no English and had to get the cook(no big deal if the food was good which it wasn’t). I ordered a lunch combo Moo Goo Gai Pan with fried rice and sad to say it was the worst I ever ate. The fried rice contained no egg, no vegetable(not even a single pea or a square carrot) and no pork AND it was bland and totally tasteless. The Gai Pan was swimming in a tasteless gravy, the chicken tough and RAW and very few vegetable assortment not even including baby corn(mainly canned mushrooms, water chestnut and bamboo shoots). The cook did let me sample a cup of hot and sour on the house which was a nice gesture, but it was average at best. And the final blow was the ducks hanging in the open in the back room, behind the cash register. I won’t be ordering Peking Duck there for sure. Like I said, only a first time impression, but not too favorable. Lansing, sadly STILL does not have a really decent Chinese Restaurant.

My wife and I have been here four times now and every time we’ve gotten something on the house, as far as soup, drinks, ice cream, or soup again! This place is quick and delicious and the people are friendly every time.

When this restaurant first opened I took an older friend along with me to try out this restaurant. I had the general Tsao chicken. The chicken tasted great but it basically had no chicken in it. It was like clumps of frosted flakes deep-fried and then covered with hot flavoring sauce. I won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The restaurant doesn’t look like anything special, but the people are really friendly. I was promptly greeted and seated. The menu is pretty comprehensive, but I settled on a dinner combo that had stir fried veggies, an egg roll, and rice. The food came out quickly, the veggies were crisp and fresh, the sauce wasn’t too salty, and the portion was perfect for 1 meal. The egg roll wasn’t too greasy and was flavorful. It didn’t blow my socks off, but it was good, fast, and cheap.

This place was bad, waiter got the drinks right, we ordered the general taos chicken with white rice and Orange shrimp with fried rice. Wow, one order had the wrong rice and the other was Orange chicken, not the fried shrimp I had ordered The eggroll was refried and dripping of grease Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Randomly ran across this place with a friend and let me just say I did not leave hungry. Ordered the typical chicken fried rice and was not disappointed at all. Got the medium size dish and only cost me $ 5 so I decided to try the chicken and rice soup as well as a side. The soup was great. I’ve seen some chicken fried rices that have way too much sauce but this fried rice was perfect and had a great amount of chicken. The restaurant itself does not look like it’s in the greatest condition but what it lacks in curb appeal makes up in flavor of food. The menu is filled with everything Chinese you can imagine so I can assure you that you can find something you will like. Highly recommend this place! People are friendly and is not a busy restaurant so service is quite fast!

The staff here is so friendly! When I was sick I enjoyed their soup a lot. They made just a plain tofu soup for me even though it wasn’t on the menu. They use good quality, jumbo shrimp in their shrimp dishes, and their Kung Pao Shrimp is my personal favorite. Most times they have given us complimentary watermelon with our takeout orders. Great place!

Nice friendly people… quick service and AWESOMEFOOD! What more could you ask for. Restaurant was clean… which in this area is hard to find. We parked in the back and walked up the sidewalk and they had the door propped open… I looked in to check out the kitchen… it was clean! That’s a HUGE plus. The only thing I could complain about would be the musty smell as you walk in… but it’s an old building and I am sure it has a really bad basement that floods. In the future, I will probably just do take out since musty smells bug me… but it won’t stop me from ordering the food.

Four stars is dead on in my opinion — well above-average bordering excellent Chinese food but the four stars is fully factored in the service(including friendly staff/owner and delicious treats served while waiting for takeout!) and clean space that it’s hard to believe was Lamai Thaai(delish but admit it— it was dirty). If your an Eastsider or live downtown this should be considered for your go-to for Chinese takeout. Love the Kung pao squid and the hot and sour soup. Not a huge fan of the Singapore Street Noodles.

Arguably the best Chinese dining experience in the area. Tea and bottled water are provided on the house, as well as soup(hot and sour or egg drop), usually served as soon as you sit down. Sometimes they also bring a plate of dumplings if the management is feeling generous. I have had the beef with broccoli and also the egg foo young. Egg foo young at China Flavor is the best I’ve had anywhere – it is served on a huge saucer and the dressing is superb – delicate, lightly sweet, and slightly sour. The last time I dined there, they also brought out ice cream and cubed watermelon as a palette cleanser after the meal(as well as the obligatory fortune cookie). The atmosphere is quaint and domestic, all the dishes are served on real porcelain plates and bowls, never styrofoam. The staff is extremely generous and friendly; almost over the top. I also really appreciate that they have an authentic Chinese menu INENGLISH. So many other places have an authentic menu only in Chinese, so I only see international guests getting the fancy dishes. Not the case at China Flavor – anyone can order anything!(Note: I have not ordered from the authentic menu yet because I’m way too scared).

I went to SM and their espresso machine was down, so I figured I’d grab some lunch. Only $ 4.95! I ordered Tso’s Chicken and it was very good, only a little spicy & sweet. My 2 yr old ate 2 bowls of the egg drop soup. The people here are so kind they even brought my little one some complimentary ice cream & watermelon.

Glad to have another quality restaurant in the neighborhood. We ordered traditional dishes because we didn’t have a menu. It was delicious! Good portion size for the price. I tend to judge my Chinese restaurants on the ability to present a great Hot and Sour Soup — they nailed it! They have several items on the menu that are non-traditional which include squid, lamb and duck. I even saw a Braised Grouper on the menu we received with our order. Looking forward to experimenting here!

The bf and I decided to try this newly opened Chinese place. Me and the bf went around 7 or 8p and I would suggest going when it’s bright outside due to the sketchy area and it’s metered parking. When we arrived the owner greeted us and sat us at a booth. He later came out and offered us complimentary soup which was very nice of him. I got the hot and sour soup which cost more but he ended up still giving me and the bf free soups. The soup was prob the best hot and sour soups I’ve tasted in lansing. Food: the owner actually suggested the spicy chicken and the beef hor fun which they were both delicious. We also decided on general tso’s just to try it and that was good also. We also got mini shrimp balls which was yummy. Very good food and nice owners/service.
