Two very dear friends and I go here at least once a month to watch the latest movie that we agreed to go see and we have never encountered any of the«bad» things mentioned here. It may be attributed to the fact that we have always gone on a weekday before 4pm and never on the weekend. Sure it’s an old theater but its always clean inside and out and the staff has always been friendly every time we are there. On a few occasions and on a weekend we have gone to a «better class theater» located in the northern suburbs but we continue to enjoy going to Lansing Cinema 8 because it fits our needs and we’ve never had any type of a problem.

Please do not go to this cinema, your car WILL get broken into! THEYDONOTHAVECAMERAS as I was told by the manager(unapologetically) and it’s something that happens a lot there. I had the worst experience of my life here, be careful. I wish I could give this no stars.

Let me preface this review to say I have not been to a «regular» movie theater in about 4 years. What I mean by that is most of the movie theaters in the area such as Chicago Ridge, Roosevelt Showplace, Michigan Ave., etc. have upgraded their theaters to have a wide selection of food, a bar, and leather reclining seats. I hadn’t been to this particular theater in YEARS… like maybe over 10 years, but I assumed they had followed suit with their peers. WRONG! It is dark and dusty and I’m sorry but the crowd was super ghetto. I don’t consider myself bougie but after years of enjoying my movies in leather recliners, I just cannot go back to the basicness of sticky floors and cramped seating. I should’ve known there was going to be a problem when I saw how cheap the tickets are. Never again… and I will say this experience definitely made a difference in my enjoyment of the movie(«Creed», which everyone said was good but I wouldn’t know cuz I still in horror over the dusty looking atmosphere and crowd).

I have been to this theater on numerous occasions, but have never stopped for a review. The theater is older(late 80s built) but still decent as far as price and movie genre is concerned. I went for early afternoon viewing so there was no line whatsoever. Everything was clean and the seats were comfortable and did not feel old. It has a classic smell of an old theater. Good surround sound even though the screen was not as large as I would have liked. Overall, this is a good place to catch a quick movie. I have come here everytime I visit River Oaks area.

i must say i do not really like coming to river oaks to watch a movie, but it is very convenient and the prices are cheap. the inside is very clean and the food as always is expensive but who doesn’t like to snack on something while watching a movie. they also have deals on food. the only thing i hate about coming here to watch a movie is how rude people can be! either people are on their phones, talking/laughing loud, or making comments about the movie out loud. its annoying. the other day i came here to watch ted and the movie did not even start yet and the theatre was extremely dark while i was trying to look for seats. a lot of people almost tripped or had to use their phone as a flash light which was a bit distracting.

Look at the movie is nothing special the place is subpar but they do have popcorn and they have drinks so you can get those why you watch a movie but other than that nothing great!

Okay experience. Popcorn not bad. Very empty though. Is it because of the holidays? I saw the HOBBIT. The bathrooms were clean and the timing was great for me…

Not a bad place… lots of security… I wonder why… tons of teens out front… and several overweight women wearing excessively tight clothes… fat guy in little coat… just saying!!!

This place is absolutely ghetto. Parents let their kids run around and be loud with out any regard for other patrons. Last time kid kept talking often and loud went to snack shop to look for help no one there. After giving up went to front to ask for a refund. Manager wouldn’t issue a refund even though ticket taker said yes that the manager would have to do it for me. Many other times patrons are are their phones again with out regard for other patrons.

As is the case with this general area, this movie theatre caters to an increasingly ‘urban’ audience. Not stating that as a demerit per se but just as an observation. The theatre itself is merely adequate. If you are in this area and what to grab a quick movie then this is a decent place. $ 6 matinees on Saturday before 2pm makes it appealing to me.
