Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse of Lansing

I urge military veterans to avoid the Lowe’s in Michigan, especially South Cedar location. I just had a horrendous experience with a manager there. I am a veteran of Viet Nam. Recently, Lowe’s began a policy that it will give a 10% discount to veterans; however, it only gives it if the veteran has it on the driver’s license. However, many, if not most, veterans got their driver’s license before the recent Michigan law that allows it to show «veteran». I tried to show her my dog tags, but she became argumentative and confrontational. I lost my cool. (It reminded me of the disrespect shown Viet Nam vets.)
When I tried to point it out to the manager, she discounted my comments. She was rude and condescending. I am very active in veterans groups and will tell them of the discourtesy. I usually do not lose my cool, but she was disrespectful of me as a customer as well as a veteran. Although the floor staff are great there as I have been a regular customer, I will go to Home Depot or Menard’s first in the future.
