They need more knowledgable people at the front desk who knows more about their facility and can answer questions over the phone without placing you on hold forever. & they also need to do something with Val over in the pool area.(Life guard/Swimming Instructor) I’ve had two encounters with this woman and she totally needs an attitude adjustment.

I was driving through Lansing MI yesterday and was in desperate need of a Zumba class… its true once you are addicted you have to go even when you are traveling. I was so impressed not only with the class but with the friendliness of every person I came into contact with, from the man working the front desk to the instructor to the ppl taking the class. This is the perfect gym for anyone looking for top quality with a hometown welcome feel!

I really like being a member of this Y. The staff is great, facilities are always clean, cardio equipment is all in good working order, lots of weight equipment, nice pool and locker rooms. It is expensive to belong– much more than other gyms but on the other hand I’ve never had to wait for a machine to open up which is nice. If machines are all full you can always swim, play some racquetball, or shoot hoops! There’s a lot to do here. Most classes are not free, however so that’s something to consider if you like taking lots of classes. You could end up paying a lot extra for classes when other gyms offer them for free.

The YMCA is a convenient spot for residents if Oak Park Village to work out. The monthly fee per person of $ 50 however is a bit steep considering you must pay an extra fee for classes like spinning, kettlebell, & step. Some classes are free-but they are few & far between. The staff is nice & the facilities are clean & kept up. The spinning bikes are OK. The pool is closed for a few months due to repairs.
